  • Damn all that work just to get to the Battery?!

Thank god I have a Yamaha.

  • ok I have a 97 monster which is sweet...and have no idea where to begin installing the battery tender after taking the seat off-any help?

  • I just followed the same exact directions to install my Adaptiv TPX Radar detector on my 2009 Monster 696. Thanks for the video. It was pretty simple as long as you have patience.

  • That is a very nice bike

  • I actually did this and it worked like a charm. Just prop up the tank with a piece of wood. Its a bit precarious, but it works and is better than disconnecting all the tank lines and removing all the vent hoses. Took me 1 hour. And I work real slow.

  • Wow so I just did this entire routine. Only it was to replace the fuse in the pig tail. :(

Oh well at least now know how to do this in the future if I need to replace the battery itself. It really isn't that hard. I didn't even need to unplug the fuel plug connector though on the right side. The hose on the right side just need to be un hooked from their hooks on the under side of the tank.

  • I am only 18 years old and soon going to buy a Ducati 696

  • OMG .. that's sooo complicated on the newer Monsters!!! On my older Monster 750 i just remove Seat open tank latch and open the tank !!

  • Thanks so much for this video. I went to take my 696 out after winter storage, and the battery wouldn't hold a charge. Couldn't for the life of me figure out how to remove it without the help of this video.

  • Very good video, thanks. I have a M1100 and needed to know how to take the tank off to install upgraded ECU and air filter.

  • Good video, thanks....

  • wow I"m gonna have to go through this every winter???what a pain!

  • @bakidge Ummm... no, you do it once. Or if you want to shell out for the Ducati-branded charger then you don't even have to do anything just plug right into the existing connector.

  • @slntdth42 , Where is this "existing connector" that you are referring to?

  • @superduc99 There's an existing pigtail connector already connected to the terminals. It's for Ducati's own battery charger.

  • @slntdth42 the ones form optimax fitt aswell. costs you less.

  • @JanKaas100 Do you know which one exactly? Is it possible to post a link or something?

  • Great vid, thanks.

How come you did not want to use the ducati factory plug? Cost? I know the ducati tenders are very expensive. I have a 2010 696 monster and am just getting ready to think about a tender.

  • @TheTaoistdragon Cost too much. You should know well, everything w/ a Duc brand costs an arm and a leg.

  • Which frame slider did you use? It looks good on the monster.

  • @timo4chen T-rex. Just got them on eBay. Great cust serv by the way. My original right slider cracked due to bad design (no metal insert), they sent me updated ones for free of charge.

  • Much thanks! I wouldn't have been able to install my battery tender connector and charge my battery without your video.

  • check out my new video

  • Thanks for the advice! Nice bike - I like the dark style.

  • looks like a pain!!!!

  • Thanks for the video, used it to install my new K&N air filter!

  • Do you have to take of the fuel tank to charge the battery as well? or is there a short cut?

  • excellent video. thanks a lot!

  • It's a cheap stand. I dont' remember the brand but I think it's Lockhart Phillips or something like that, they are not that good really, but works fine.

For good stand, look for pit bull, they are build like a tank. There's no official spool mount on the little duc. But you can buy rear axle slider that acts as spool for easy lifts.

    Good luck!

  • i need your bike stand, can any one help me out with getting one? i bought one for ducati's but i don't have the right spool or what ever its called.

  • good video! now i only need the duc.

    id love to have one

    :D

  • As with your oil change video you did a great and very concise job detailing what needed to be done.

By chance can you do a chain cleaning and adjustment video along with any other maintenance videos for this bike? Again great job.

  • Great video. Glad my dealer put this on when I bought my 2009 last week. Question: Did you paint your handlebars, or are they an aftermarket? Love the look.

  • Wellll, that video is great - still I wish it was as easy as taking the battery out of my old SV650.

I'm going to give this a shot - before my battery dies completely - probably not too different from 2007 696

  • good video good bike!

  • Great video! Thanks for taking the time to put together a good quality video like this. The manual makes it so much harder than it has to be. I see you bike is stand. What kind of stand do you use? Also, it is hard to tell but did you find a way to get spools on your bike or is it a standard lift?

  • It's a standard stand. I don't remember what brand but it doesn't use spools, just lifts both sides of the swing arm.

  • Thanks for taking the time to record the process. Many will benefit from it.

  • Nice Bike, love the termis!
