This has *nothing* to do with "wireless energy transfer" It's merely using contacts instead of plugs. It's a nifty little design, but saying it's anyhow related to the (still mostly theoretical, as far as any efficiency is concerned) wireless energy transfer technology is simply bogus. There is no (short range or other) wireless transmission of energy. If that were the case, sticking two forks in an electrical socket to power a lightbulb would be "wireless transmission" since no wires were used.
It bothers me when they say wireless because it still needs to placed on their pad. I know it's technically wireless but most people think of being able to walk around and not being stationed to a single spot when they hear the word. All and all, a decent product with potential.
Technically it is wired , the pad is simply an array of wires. The receiver has 5 contacts that are placed in such a manner that at least two of them are in physical contact with the wire stripes in the pad and no single contact in the receiver can ever touch more than one strip in the pad at a time (preventing short circuit).
they have this in "The Source" Stores in Toronto, Canada

It is wireless. It transmits power at a very short range and the unit charges with the energy that is sent.
Its call Wireless energy transfer
