on what basis ? Sambo may have better takedowns but it is no way superior on the ground....Elite BJJ practioner Beats an Elite Sambo Guy 9 out of 10 times

basically what u say is like saying sambo looses to boxing if u can only use ur strikes, well so does everything else.

face it sambo is more of mma then everything else and u cant be good in every aspect of fighting.

I think you have a huge misunderstanding of what the difference between Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and "Sport" Jiu JItsu is....Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has self defense against guns,knifes and strikes

@omar2000089 so does everything else, even 4000 yrs kung fu styles, which were developed when nobody even had guns. They just modify old moves to make them able to do the trick on modern weapons. Sambo however was designed for this, by takin knowledge of over 100 different styles. Main are boxing, wrestling, judo and jiu jitsu but they travelled even to africa to find native fighting styles most of them are probably extinct now.

during the WWII russian marine corps who

had black uniforms were known to use Sambo. They attacked nazis fearlessly even with only a shovel in their hands so Nazis called them "der schwarze Tod" eq "black death".

BJJ has nothing on it, its a good art but its not a military art, sambo is.

one last thing i alway´s wonder how many bjj guys are posting on sambo vids. how aswesome bjj is and how they are better then sambo.

I hardly see any sambo guys doing the same on bjj vids. actually i seen none.

U like it u think its best? well thats why u probably train it. other ppl think different so they practise sambo or some other MA.

bitching about how ur style is best proves only insecurity about it. There is no best style anyway but the strogest fighter.

haha, it does? where? maybe gracie jiu-jitsu but the style brazilian jiu-jitsu being taught around the world right now very very rarely includes self-defense against any sort of weapons at all, not even strikes. gracie jiu-jitsu as taught by a select few remaining gracie family members IS still a self-defense art, though.

The Greg Humphrey's attitude bothered me a bit. Even if you can't compete with the younder guys because your "aging", you are still better than the typical tough guy on the street and, that's what I think is important. You may not be able to do well in class, but you'd be amazed how easy it is to beat non-grappling tough guys, even those much younger. It's all in how you look at the situation.

I think he was really just refering to the number of hours per day and intesity of training. I am sure Gregg could handle the average bloke.

I think the Rissian approach (lot's of physical prep, limited number of techniques per class, lot's of reps) would make me a better fighter than what I've gotten in my BJJ classes, where there is some basics, but too much flavor of the month techniques to please the diehards. That type of thing is fun, but I want to be good, not really to compete, but to just be a good grappler for it's own sake.

Borec is only sport sambo, judo, and sumo. No combat sambo there.

I just watched an episode of "Human Weapon" with Bill Duff and Jason Chambers that was all about Sambo, and they trained with Igor Kurinnoy in his dojo. "Basketbrawl" looks like a great way to train agility, perception and your ability to think quick!

They are actually not bad. Like wrestling mats. They look worse than they are. Footing is fine, especially with shoes on.
