I know that England isn't very sectarian, but I'm surprised you hadn't heard of the view that Catholicism isn't Christianity. Ian Paisley is loud enough to be heard from N Ireland. I'm sure those evangelicals can make some sort of historical and theological argument, but I'm not Christian (or atheist) so I'm neutral about how strong or contrived it might be. As regards shifting responsibilty for antisemitism, you perhaps could have mentioned some of the things that Luther said about the Jews.

Persecution is not all over here in the USA. They are just holding back. Many christain groups here in the USA are seething with hatred. Also you are correct, it is often said in the more active christian groups that Catholics are not (((((( REAL ))))) christians and therefore do not count.
