  • i sure didnt care if it were irish, scotish, or british. point is it sure made that yank .......... well you know already lol.

  • I'm sorry, but why is this funny?

  • @21ishy21 Have you ever tried to change the course of a lighthouse? ;-)

  • iiiihaaaa

  • This is always good for a laugh when there's nothing else to watch...

    Silva navigation equipment, since 1932.....

  • lol

  • HA!

    fail

  • The captain reminds me of an old boss I used to have.....

  • HAHAHA

    same m8

  • Hahahaha lol! xD this must be an old swedish comercial or something. All the subbtitles are in Swedish and at the end of the clip it says " Silva, riktigt navigationsutrustning, till land och till sjöss, sedan 1932" meaning "Silva, real navigation equipment, to land and sea, since 1932" lol XD wonderful

  • @Chiakichama its irish not swedish it says its in the irish sea, the lighthouse guy is irish and the subbtitles are in irish

  • @emmetgb ._. dude wth? if you think the subtitles are in Irish you obviously can not read.

  • @Chiakichama dude where do you come from?

  • @emmetgb Sweden.

  • @Chiakichama Nah its an irish one

  • LOL!....he was threatening to attack a lighthouse if they didn't divert course, better move lighthouse!

  • owned

  • And the Australian defense force is so much better am I right? Before you say anything, pertaining to this video, this video is just a joke, never happened.

  • Kinda like the fact that if he was using proper navigation equipment that the commercial was implying, sure. YOu fucking Aussie prick.

  • ha ha thats true

  • that guy in the lighthouse sounds irish...

  • Yes he is - I have this idea that it's one of our stand-up comedians but I can't quite place him. It does say at the start of the ad "somewhere in the Irish Sea" though AFAIK there are no manned lighhouses in Ireland (or UK) since 1996/7 when the last one on the Irish Sea, the Bailey lighthouse near Dublin, was automated.

  • @eclecticmagpie Sounds a bit like Keith Barry..

  • LOL the USS Montana was the 15 16" guns

super battleship on the drawing boards at

    the end of WW2

  • It's just a joke, folks - a spoof, a send-up...... it's not a political statement, a criticism of the US Navy or the USA. It's an old joke, a story ascribed to various Navies that's been going round for years, that Silva, the makers of navigational equipment, made into a memorable advertisement. Chill out guys!

  • lol i shat myself laughing

  • dude its a true story

  • @DjTurt Insulting the USA is never a joke and the makers of this video shuld be sent to Guantamino.

  • Wait...What?

  • @halo1razorhead

    Fuck the US, fuck you.

  • @SLiDEnl Yes, fuck the US for saving Europe, smart ass.

  • @halo1razorhead

    lol u mad?

  • @paddytheduck Do you not have pride in this country? God wrote the Constitution for a reason traitor!

  • @halo1razorhead

    1. fail troll is fail there for you fail.

    2. I am not an american, there for you must be a fail troll, there for you fail at trolling.

  • @paddytheduck Everyone is an American.

  • @halo1razorhead

    Fail troll.

  • @paddytheduck lol u mad?

  • @halo1razorhead

I make my point, it's just funny watching a troll fail at failing.

  • @paddytheduck Please tell me your point again.

  • @paddytheduck The internet saved my life! Go back to Ireland and worship your queen.

  • omg i just pissed myself.. like i litterally just fucking pissed myself

  • lol I don't care what you all say. Thats gotta be true!

Its also the reason why they dont make me a captain.

  • LOL

  • its still funny.

  • Facts: There is no USS Montana. US Navy vessels do not identify themselves by name over a VHF radio. There is no "North Atlantic Fleet". Lighthouses do not use VHF radios to communicate with vessels. The ship in the video is a UK Type 42 Frigate. You can't change course 15 degrees to the North. You can't change course 15 degrees to the South. You CAN alter course 15 degrees to Starboard or Port. This is an advertisement based on an urban legend going back more than 50 years.

  • You dick.

  • dude... shuuuuut the fuck UP.

  • Who cares?

  • dude, ....... what is your problem. of course it is fake it is a comercial. it is surposed to be funny. why do you care, is it because your some sort of showoff from the navy that starts to cry if a real threat is comming

  • m82a1barret-READ THE OTHER COMMENTS. I know this is a commercial and urban legend. My "Facts" posting is a response to the comments made by people who think this is real. Shockingly, quite a few people believe this is some kind of Naval Documentary.

  • what is youre problem with his comment?it is very informative.

  • take a joke or get off youtude asswholes

  • I just love how people say "oh, this really happend in canada" or " off the coast of wherever" but cant actully give the specific name and location of the lighthouse. Probably because they cant even find one that actually has a radio operator in it.......It is a funny video though.

  • You are right - this did not happen - but maybe way back there was such a radio conversation between a ship and say a harbor control or something? If you talk to people who were in WW2 or miltary service they will have lots of stories of military stupidity, bureaucratic stubbornness and idiot officers.

I guess like Chaplin movies this is the Machine against the Little Guy - and for a change the Little Guy wins!

  • bah! dont listen to those people! people like that on the internet are only saying stuff like that for attention...

  • US Navy warships don't identify themselves by name over the vhf radio. They just say "This is US Navy warship" and follow that with a number. And the warship would also have given a CPA (closet point of approach) to the other "ship" to let them know what the minimum acceptable distance is when they pass each other. On the high seas, this is often measured in MILES. Warships normally like to keep a nice buffer between themselves and civilian ships whenever possible.

  • Lighthouses don't even have a radio operator. Think about it. The ship is at sea and the lighthouse is on land. Do we all bring a vhf marine radio when we go to the beach just in case we see a ship on a collision couse with us? Do beach front hotels have a lookout with a radio operator to talk to ships to tell them to alter course. NO!!!!!!!!!! IF this was real, the lighthouse would have identified itself as such at the start of the conversation anyways. That's standard protocol.

  • how stupid do you feel aftyer something like that?

  • that actually happened in Canada :P

  • rofl, this was so funny, IMA POST ON FACEBOOK AND MYSPACE XD U GUYS R SO FUNNY! |:P

  • lmao

  • hahaha, that´s funny

  • lol

  • The ending text says: "SILVA- real navigation equipment. At land and at sea. Since 1932"

  • Thank you for the translation.

  • He will be forced to take messures to ensure the safety of his ship... Wouldnt that be to change course right away? retarded american is retarded

  • What he means is, "Get the fuck outta the way, or your gettin your ass blown sky high!!".

  • aha arrogant mericans

  • That is so funny!!!

  • I just love how this was a true story, it really goes to show how arrogant the Americans can be sometimes.

  • except its not a true story and the original version of the joke didnt even have Americans in it you idiot.

  • It was a true story, it happened in the 70's and it did involve Americans and a British lighthouse. It started out as a joke in the 90's.

  • Comment removed

  • lol..idiots

  • Hmmm... I put this up a year ago. You joined youtube Aug 18th, 2008.....hmmmm....let's figure this one out... I copied you? I don't think so. But did I copy it? Of course I did! This is YouTube - 99.9% of everything here is copied! I think I nicked it from the old Google Videos or possibly metacafe.

  • Big fault in the video, thats a type 42 Destroyer, the Americans don't have type 42 thats a British ship!

  • Well - it's just an ad, not a factual documentary. There are others "errors" in it - AFAIK there are no longer any manned lighthouses in the Irish Sea, the one shown may not be in the Irish Sea anyway (anybody know?), and so on. But it's a funny video nonetheless.

  • Yeah true, was just pointing it out anyway. Good video always makes me laugh, thanks for posting it.

  • and the uss montana is a very old ship, that ship is fictional, the uss monana was canceled as a battle ship, it is something like the titanic

  • yea the montana is a cruiser, not a type 42!

  • dam american navy

  • this is funny as hell, but the uss montana does not exist. it was planned, layed to construct but then was cancelled. the uss montana was to be announce the world's most powerful vessel ever build but since it was not completed and the Yamoto of imperial japan navy was sunked, the Iowa now holds the title of the worlds most powerful vessel ever built

  • sunked....nice lol..

  • Once again, there is no USS Montana. Not since World War I, anyway.

  • hahahahahahhahaha ÄGD

  • of course it was a joke, but it was still a great commercial. I don't know what they sell, and i don't really care, i would buy it. haha, it is hysterical

  • Lol

  • Oh boy. Yeah trying to move a lighthouse isn't going to work to well.

  • HA HA HA HA HA HA, WONDERFUL AD.

  • this video is actually a filmatisation of a REAL radio recording.

  • you idiot there was never actually a uss montana, i challange you to find an actual ship named the uss montana lol there are so many things wrong with this comment, but i will leave it at that.

    Funny vid all fictional

  • i have no idea if there actually is a ship called the USS Montana, but i know for a fact that a radio conversation, almost identical to this has been recorded between a ship and a lighthouse.

  • Before calling someone an idiot, be sure you are not an idiot yourself. This happened in real, but in the commercial they changed the name of a ship.

  • i concur but u gotta luv the irish

  • there was an american battleship, to be called the montana in ww2, a super ship, but it was never built =P

  • And you have proof that this radio conversation happened?

  • It's an urban legend guys, it's been around for a good few years now using a variety of different ship names.

Just Google: Urban Legend Ship Lighthouse

  • now you want proof? you silly silly person, proof has no place in these things. all the proof you need is my buddy new a guy whose dad was in the service and ws there when it happened. probably happened between a oil tanker and a light house and the story just got better.

  • eid

  • so fun movie of a classic joke xD roflmfao

  • better than Stephen Covey's version

  • Great! ^.=.^

  • :) Lovin' it

  • seen it.......

  • LOL
