I have the ripcord on my guardian and still have not had one issue at all.not sure how many arrows i shot thru, but I'm on my third string 4th D-loop.if it ever gives me a problem it will be gone.
i had a ripcord on my hoyt vulcan and shoot about 3000 arrows a year maybe more , it got noisy and was slaping the shelf , ( kinda like the springs wore out inside ) so now i use a G5 which doesnt have the containment that the ripcord did but it is dead silent and no contact .
I don't recall me ever saying WBs can't be tuned. This is an old video however, where is the marker? You are right, all bows need to be tuned.
On a still day I have achieved 1-1/2 to 2" @ 40 w/the Dren and bow as seen. I don't shoot nearly as much as I used to. Today, I might not pull it off but get closer to season and maybe. It has little to do with me; basic physics cannot be denied.
Your opinion is valued and appreciated. I wish you the best of luck in the future.
I like how in your vids, you say WB VS. Ripcord, you don't show a WB. I know my WB has no sound to it, and I'm shooting 2.5 groups at 30 yards. With my NAP RAZORBACKS BROAD HEADS. My field tips shoot the same. Some said you can't tune a WB. Well if your bow is not tuned right. Whats the point? Aways yes a WB can be tuned. Don't blame your Rest, Check bow tuning and Arrow spine.
You know these arrow rest are like a love hate relationship all comments aside it's what's best for you. Now I am not a user of the rip cord but to me it looks great. I have had some problems with my whisker biscuit but hey it's not up to me to spend your money and buy your arrow rest.
@bluegrasssingingman - I can honestly say I have never seen a WB or round brush style rest at the Olympics. I invite people to look. Perhaps somebody has Photoshopped one somewhere - Idunno.
If you are talking about the Ripcord, most malfunctions are related to one of two issues: 1) the bow's design/user don't pull back to a solid wall or 2) the string/clamp/cable slips (can happen). In the case of no 1, some bows simply don't have a solid wall or the bow may be a tad heavy/stout or possibly long/draw-length.
In the set-up video set I do show how I personnaly guard against slippage. Maybe it will help, maybe not.
DO NOT buy the RipCord rest. If you look close at the beginning of the video you can see a brass bushing that holds the fork rod to main assembly. That brass bushing is press fit in there and works loose and falls out. Then, when you try to get it fixed the company gives you horrible customer support and blames it on something you did. Junk product. Junk company. I've tried two and both did this to me. Once in the field.
I honestly cannot attest to the company service because it has operated flawlessly. I don't know them, they never sponsored anything but it is (least everyone I have ever met/known of) has also had flawless function.
Any company can make a dud, perhaps even a batch but with the deepest respect, something does sound off. Companies just don't stay in business dumping on their customers.
Maybe a passive system fits your hunting needs better. Good luck
@codicamartin I've been shooting the same ripcord for the past 2 years and I've never had this happen or have ever heard of this happening, maybe the problem is you not the rest?
Oh yea i absolutely love it, no that the sight that came on my bow wasn't good it just wasnt quite up to snuff. Well good luck to you this archery season, started last saturday here =D
It rained here opening day and I didn't go the weekend. I did make it last Saturday and managed what I figure is a 2-1/2 probably, very symmetrical 8 point. He is only ear width but well balanced.
This really isnt a vs. video, you are just talking about 1 rest and aren't really doing any tests on them to see which ones better, its just the on you prefer.
I don't have to have "tests" to know the sun rises in the east & sets in the west. I, & many other people, have observed this our entire lives. It is common sense. Being said, sometimes we just don't stop to give it much thought as to why - we just know it does.
It is what it is, nothing more need be done. IMO The WB was once a market leader because it was simple & effective rest that kept the arrow from falling off; but. progress comes; look at the Model T. How much should a toothbrush cost?
lol, yeah today i went to the hunting, bait and tackle store and you can buy a new bow string for 6 bucks but for them to put it on its 25 and i took it to my neighboor and he just leaned on the bow and i hooked it to the tear drops, then put my rings on for arrow alignment, and then the razor heads are like 25 and up, i just look down my arrow for my sights, im cheap
A little mole skin addressed the upside down flip-around. Really, that isn't a normal hunting action.
Wisker Bs can be very noisy on the draw with many carbon arrows depending on the texture/finish. That too can be addressed with a different arrow and a micro-fine finish.
Unlike standing the bow on its head as seen in this demonstration you pretty well have to draw on every shot.
The WB concept was genius. I never would have thought of bending a toothbrush in a circle to hold an arrow
I love my WB. Great rest for stalking and moving around while you carry your bow. Plus it actually increases the rotation on your aroows. gotta love that.
WBs are world famous for vane damage. Keep an eye on them & you can avoid any surprises. Add a dab of glue @ the front of the vane & prep with alcohol; de-vaning the arrows will improve.
Try Blazer vanes - they are more rigid & do OK. They don't steer broadhead quite as well but if your bow is really well tuned they are fine. I'm not sure how you figure WB's increase rotation; what happens at 7 fps and 250+ fps (what an arrow has at the end of the stroke) are two very different things.
I figure if you are looking into hunting arrow rests you might be a hunter. If that is true, you may be interested in home processing and making your own sausages. I have a few "how to" clips you may want to see. Just click on the rldel149 and it will take you to the "channel".
For me, the big factors in choosing the rest were 1) the fact it is a fall-away and so I'm less likely to heel or torque the bow & I get very good accuracy with capture; and 2) unlike a WB, it will work with anybody's vanes, straight, right, left, curly, shark-tooth.
If you like the simplicity of the WB, check out the new passive rest by Catawaba Archery (the website isn't hard to find). The idea behind it is the same as the WB but this rest won't rip your fletching off.
WB don't rip your fletching off if you tune your arrow to the rest (think opposite of prongs) and avoid the black center rest. If that is too hard, just put a dab of glue on the leading edge.
Dad has a Ripcord and loves it.
I'm considering the QAD after the WB for the fun of it.

Nobody wants to mention it? Okay. I'll be the one to say it. It's funny because whisker biscuit is another nickname for a pussy.
