Seriously, my only point was that in this rendition the entire feel and mood of the song was lost. The only thing this has in common with the original are the notes that were used. Is my reasoning so childlike to say that? Perhaps I don't spend enough time on Wikipedia looking up the obscure names to instruments that sound terrible to me.

No. I'm sorry you put this much effort into this for me to shoot it down, but no. Make up a song that uses Chinese instruments and throat singing, and do that. The format you use to express music is not universal, thus this blues song loses all of it's character in your rendition. I'm not trying to suppress your music, but this doesn't work at all.

Unlike classical music, folk music, including these old blues tunes, is generally not written but rather passed along in the oral tradition. Everyone is free to make the song their own and to play them either as they see fit, as they can, or as they can remember. I think that's the beauty of it. Saying, "at least learn the lyrics" just sounds stuffy to me in this context! If it were Mozart, I would agree with you.
