  • MACEDONIA

  • This man originally arranged the blocks.

  • I like Hvorostovsky's voice better. Gedda's voice reminds me of a billy goat...

  • This was how the Tetris theme song was born. It's still lives on to this day.

  • Gedda wins hands down. Hvorostovskiy has better voice, but Gedda's interpretation is more Russian. Gedda made me smile.

  • I heard the original song of this (on Russian Guitar) also during Snatch on TV. I asked, and dad said that it was the song that became Tetris.

  • roses are red

    violets re blue

in soviet russia tetris play YOU!

  • не виноват, потому что я люблю, люблю, любовь, душа печати!

Я забыл, ничего, никогда не !....

  • who cares about the voice if it does not make soul vibrate?

  • no doubt, Hvorostovsky's voice is 100 times better than Gedda's one!!!!!!

  • Gedda is so playful, flirtatious and versatile, and not due to balalaykas only, he sings in more folk tradition.

  • Nice! Hvorostovsky is so bland in comparison to Gedda.

  • In Mother Russia, we say "In United States" jokes...

  • @TheSecondR In United States, You drive Car!

  • both of them are good, I like all of them.

  • ytf is david icke on the front?

  • In Soviet Russia, colored blocks arrange you!

  • Korobeiniki means "Peddler", not "The Little Box".

  • I can see blocks falling from the sky when i listen to this and close my eyes (-:

  • I like Hvrostovsky better, this song sounds better with the baritone.

  • 2 people were the L-s

  • i wish it had the english translation of what hes singing

  • Oh, my crate is so full,

I've got chintz and brocade. Take pity, oh sweety, Of this lad's shoulder

I will, I will go out into the tall rye, I will wait there till the night comes, Once I see the dark-eyed lass, I will showcase all my goods.

I paid no small price myself, So don't bargain or be stingy, Bring your scarlet lips to me, Sit closer to this fine lad.

The foggy night has already come, The daring lad is awaiting, Hark, it's her! The desired one has come,

  • I prefer Gedda's version, because we can undoubtely hear how the music dance, the rythm is fantastic. You can hear it in the accents.

  • I SWEAR I've heard this theme somewhere before......

  • @HankJwimbleton876 Tetris... though I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic XD

  • @rpgcaster Bingo. I am. XD Well spotted friend.

  • @HankJwimbleton876 maybe tetris? :)

  • Can we get some mp3 downloads for these?

  • does anyone know where i can find sheet music with english pronunciations?

  • KATXANGA!

  • thumb up for Tetris making you listen to this :D

  • Looks like David Icke is moonlighting as a Russian folk singer.

  • this video is better than naruto

  • @Slaangor Dude, a lot of things are better then naruto...

  • For what reason I must compare?! I prefer DH,too.

  • I like the two versions very much, and I am aware that the lyrics version in Hvorostovskiy´s performance is the most common one. But what I can´t really get trough my poor head is the chronology in the first version. In Gedda´s version the story seems to run smoothly, but in the other version the boy goes to wait in the rye, whereupon the haggling begins before the the girl has even followed him! But since I am not a native Russian I may be missing something :-) Ayway, nice song!

  • @MarioAle87 Tetris' sound was made after "Kalinka", I think.

  • Tetris xD

  • awesome!

  • this video is better than naruto

  • The lyrics was performed by Hvorostovkiy is better IMO. BTW, Gedda was accompanied with chorus, so any comparison is unfair.

  • @ahbahpuh

    Unfair to whom?

  • @Herur22, to Hvorostovskiy, chorus usually gives +1 to performance impression compared to chorusless one.

  • @ahbahpuh

Aha, so if I follow your reasoning correctly, the situation is like this: you feel that the second performance is better, but because of the unfair cooperation of the chorus you decided that you like the first one more. That's OK for me, I might only add that the Russian folk songs are usually sung or accompanied by the chorus.

  • @Herur22 Not at all. Gedda's performance on russian folk songs and romances is excellent, but for this song I prefer Hvorostovskiy rendition as is, although Gedda's rendtion stays excellent. The reason is slightly different lyrics.

  • @ahbahpuh

    I see.

  • TETRIS

  • @inumaninuman

Yeah, I love this theme ^_^

  • Гедда, бесмертный!

  • Gedda ! Gedda all the way up !

    What a dynamism.. verve... energy.

Great performance of a great song.

    D. Hvorostovsky lost his Russian soul completely.

  • @Polonaise2008 I think you've lost your Russian soul (if you had it, of course) being in Canada lol

  • Voice is brilliant!!!Beatiful.

  • Heard the great Nicolai Gedda perform live a half-dozen times, once, unforgettably, as Lensky... and had the privilege of meeting him once as well, and working together. What a genius!

  • Lucky you :)

  • Love Хворостовский, but, honestly, no one tops Gedda in any recording or concert performance I have heard of this song. He really, really understands it.

  • I like Gedda's better, and it's not just because we're both from Sweden ;)

  • Oj polnym polna moja koroboesjka Jest i sitets i partsja Pozjalej, doesja-zaznoboesjka Molodetskogo pletsja. Vyjdoe, vyjdoe v rozj vysokoejoe, Tam do notjski pogozjoe, Kak zavizjoe tsjernookoejoe, Vse tovary razlozjoe. Tseny sam platil nemalyje, Ne torgoejsja, ne skoepis, Postavljaj-ka goebki alyje, Blizje k molodtsoe sadis.

  • He looks what id picture Dante from DMC to look like in older age aha^^

    Powerful image.

  • omg .. tetris!? XDD

  • no it's song used in Tetris

Tetris is a Russian game ;D

  • actually tetris has a modified version of this but its nearly the same

  • The both of them sing very good! Bravo!

  • Screw you, Korobushka's f**king epic!

  • speaking of which.

    Is it?

    Korobienki or Korobushka?

  • Whichever you want. It's a folk-song, therefore trying to name it officially is not wise.

  • @Asurnasurpal Korobeiniki is generally how it's usually pronounced. How it's spelled is another thing entirely.

  • I think Hvorostovsky's version as being much better than Gedda's

  • yes it is

  • mp3?????

  • Sorry?

  • I think he means where can we download the first song you presented us with in this video?

  • I have this song in mp3. If you want it I'll upload it somewhere.

  • Oh by all means, yes! :O

In High Quality though, if that's alright?

  • RockmanNeka2: I uploaded it to FileFront for you but can't send you the link in PM. Trying to put it as a comment on your channel...........

  • Ok, thanks :)

and if that doesn't work, just PM me the link (with spaces and such between them...)

  • But I can't PM you because you have enabled friend lock.

  • Well, just solved the problem, just add me as a friend back and you'll be able to send me the link

  • Do you have both versions in HQ? If so, could you send me an E-Mail, you can find my E-Mail address on my profile.

  • i like Hvorostovsky's version more than Geddas.

  • And last one: "I had to pay high prices myself.

So don't bargain, don't be stingy!

    Bid me your red lips

and sit a bit closer to this good boy!"

  • Thank you, Radivoje , for your detailed translation.

  • "Hey, my carrier box is brimful,

    there's calico, print, and brocade.

    Have mercy, my dear,

with my juvenile shoulders! I'll go to the field, where the rye grows high, and wait there till it's dark.

When I'll see the girl with the dark eyes,

I will display all my goods." Katya uses to bargain with care,

she's always afraid to pay too much.

The young man kisses the girl

and asks her to add a bit to the price.

  • What is it about ? I would be very thankful for the lyrics ! Wonderful music !Greetings

  • Sorry, I don't know whatit is about and I don't have the lyrics.

  • It's about a peddler who waits and meets his girl in a rye field and "sells" the goods for kisses :) Correct song name is "Korobeiniki"

    Oi, polna, polna korobushka,

    Yest ee seetsy, ee partcha,

    Pozhaley, dusha-zaznobushka,

    Maladetskava pletcha

    Vyidi, vyidi v rozh vysokuju,

    Tam da notchki pagazhu,

    A zavizhu tcherno-okuju,

    Vse tovary razlozhu

    To be continued... :)

  • Thank you for your translation, MicroCephalus.
