I use my argonian as a mage O.O The females have 10 higher intelligence making them better for magic based classes. Just wanna put that out there.

I love playing as an Argonian, I use stealth and marksman, awesome combo. I did take a slightly nerdy step of raising as many stats as possible before I saved and left the sewer (Sneak 100, Athletics 100, Acrobatics 100, Illusion 100, and one or two others, I can't remember now). I am so playing this again before 11/11/11 :)

@hooplablahblahblah it is written in a disease. you cannot become a vampire (excluding valtieri's offer of course) if you dont first contract 'porphyric hemophelia' which is a disease. vincent valtieri of the dark brotherhood, however, will always succeed in giving it to you, because that way the disease is scripted into a part of the 'darkness eternal' quest, and diseases scripted into quests and bosses bypass all resistances.

Well, you can get Water Breathing AND Night-Eye with Fin Gleam, which you can get any level, glass helm. (search it and it'll show.)

Why would you pick strength as a favored attribute? Argonians do kick ass, I have an Argonian custom class Thief/Assassin. Your strat guide kind of sucks, sorry.

i was wondering if someone could give me a little advice. i haven't had oblivion for long.

i an Argonian with the birthsign thief with a custom class that spicalizes in stealth. strength and luck for the attributes. with the major skills: blade, conjuration, destruction, restoration(these are the ones i always get when i start a new game), armorer, mysticism, and sneak.

can anyone tell me if this is good or should i replace something?

You should have:

Blade/Destruction (one or the other)

Alchemy

Illusion

Sneak

Mysticism

Marksman

That's what I have and it's a very well-rounded character.

@TheChronos17 if your using argonian stick to illusion for stealth and mysticism, other than that dont use magic cuz mainly bretons and high elves are magic races. for an argonian i use sneak, security, i dont use magic cuz argonians dont have much magicka, i use speechcraft, blade and marksman, acrobatics and athletics

bretons are overall the best race. i made a breton that can sneak, shoot arrows as good as an elf can. when detected it could just use its destruction and conjuration to win the battle.

@Zanmatt2g bretons take a hardcore subtraction to speed and agility, making them the worst thieves, assassins, and bowmen. each race is designed for some kind of class or few classes, there is no best race, every race can do anything at least to a mediocre level, but if you want to be GOOD at a particular thing, choose a race for it.

nope. A breton can jusrt train it's agility and speed. an argonian or whatever cant just train to get 50 extra magick points and 50% immunity to magic attacks

@Zanmatt2g also false, I can add points to my willpower and intelligence as i level and, over time, easily get 50 more magick points and more. I can also enchant my armor until I get 100% absorbtion, no problem. And it is true, a breton can train up it's agility and speed. But false, you cannot raise those stats as high as an argonian, because no matter what it is at, it will always be 10 less than it could be, argonians speed and agility, however, will always +10 both

Lol? this is funny. A breton will always have 50+ magicka. if you level an argonian to 100 intellignece and willpower, then level a breton to 100 intelligence and willpower, the breton will have 50 more magic.

The argonian's speed and agility will cap at 100 as will the bretons so they will both eventually be the same.

also, the breton has also 50 magic resistance while the argonian has water breathing...

@Zanmatt2g This is funny. You're right, the breton will always have 50 more magic, making it a better mage. But if you cap speed and agility as a breton, it will be 90, you can find all these stat boosts and detriments on UESPwiki. if we both capped agility, speed, and magicka, the breton would have 110 magicka, 90 speed, and 90 agi, and argonian would have 90 magicka, 110 speed and 110 agility, making breton the better mage, argonian the better rogue. you clearly have no clue how TES stats work

Are you a troll? A breton is capped at 100 in every stat including: intelligence, willpower, agility and speed.

argonian is capped at 100 in intelligence, willpower, agility and speed.

the argonian just starts with an extra 10 in agility and speed.

breton starts an extra 10 in willpower and intelligence

argonian starts with free waterbreathing

breton starts with 50+ magic points

@Zanmatt2g You're just making my point more and more valid. Cap everything, and true, all the argonian has is their poison and disease resistance and its waterbreathing. But all the breton has is the 50 magicka. that does not constitute a 'best race'. what about the 'eye of night' khajiit power? seems ideal for thieving. orc beserk? not going to do well for a mage orc. there is no 'best race', each race is suited to a certain class. And no, im not a troll, im just right, and you're stubborn

Mysticism is very underrated by players, loads of people think illusion is the key magic skill for a stealth character but mysticism's detect life spells and soul trap are so useful. Alteration is useful too for getting past guards using the calm spells

Wa-wait, you didn't put SNEAK or MARKSMAN as major skills? Yet you put ILLUSION(calm down people or make them angry) and MYSTICISM (the useful spells are really high level)? You need sneak for damage multipliers and marksman so you don't have to sneak right up to the enemy. A friggin' thief without friggin' sneak?! You won't have a chance to get somewhere undetected, you won't even be able to do the thieves guild without getting illusion to level 50!

I would never ever ever start with major skills Security and Athletics...Athletics skill increases all the time and can be trained anywhere, and picking locks is just a matter of patience and timing. You can pick Very Hard locks as a novice of Security if you know what you're doing...

@Ganondorfpwnz Flawed logic, im sorry to say. although it holds up nice to typical players, you have to remember: you can only level up by leveling up your major skills, if athletics or security is a minor skill, that means its very difficult to level up. you run and pick locks as a thief ALL the time, which means you level up incredibly fast if they're major, but since minor skills never progress towards a full level up, you lost a lot of leveling speed if those two are minor skills.

my argonian has has 100 in every stats except for willpower, speed and agility and acrobatics. they are all 255.

i have 100 chameleon and 100 magic resistance and 85 shield. i used the permenant enchantment glitch to do this so im stuck for all eternity as an idistructable invisible argonian... it sucks ass
