I know this is an old cast though its funny cause Al all of your questions were valid and explaining senseless answers on the behalf of att is not always an easy thing for reps...lol It's like now-if you were grandfathered into the $30 dollar unlimited plan and wanted to tether, you would need to drop to the $25 2 gig plan and then add an additional $20=$45 total and you're loosing the unlimited plan if you had it. MAKES NO SINCE, Though it does make $ LOL

Hmmm... That's great. Eventually I've got my iPhone for free:) If anybody are interested have a look here: freebies(.)comoj(.)com/iphone Yeaaaaahh! :)
Cry baby. Because you couldn't get an iPhone for free w/o a contract? You managed to drop a call out of the 1,000 you make in a single day? You can't download a movie while in a high data traffic location? You're the reason why I hate my job at ATT. Stupid customers.
As an employee of at&t, for a call center (not in Canada) I can say there was a lot of confusion about iPhone 3G S capabilities and features. I understood them all clearly, but some people around me had trouble adjusting to the new information. They informed us of the new iPhone only about 1-2 weeks (depending on call center location) or the release date, capabilities, and available resources to answer questions. I think this is a call that got someone that was trying to adjust.
hey are there any exceptions u guys do for people who have the iphone 3g that no longer want the data plan? I know we signed a contract and its required but do u guys cut some slack for some people depending on their situation? it's a rip off we have to pay an xtra 30 a month for that shit
Wow, and I thought Dell UK support was bad! I bet Apple are pissed off at the "quality" of support AT&T offer. I wouldn't be surprised if they go with another carrier with the next version if they can't get their shit together. Here in the UK O2 do an outstanding job with them. Great signal strength, fast network, full features including MMS and tethering from release day. Maybe MMS wasn't on the last version because of AT&T? Seeing how they won't have it till later in summer it'd make sense.
Is the guy he's talking to from Canada ?? he seems to have a canadian accent to me ? but that might just be me im from England, i think i can tell the differents ?/??? anyone ?
OMG what liars the iPhone 3G is capable of MMS messaging. There too embarrassed to admit it LOL. I mean i got a message from 02 on my iphone it said this "The new iPhone 3.0 software will be arriving on June 17th. iPhone 3G custemers like you will be able to get loads of new features including MSS messaging, tethering, faster speeds , tap to find out more"
AT&T sounds really bad, I'm glad i'm not on it. Here in the UK 02 is pretty much amazing. I average like 3-4mb/s on my iphone over 3G. when running the connection speed test
Alfred, I know you are an Apply guy, but you should look into getting an Android phone. I have wifi-tethering w/ mine. I have an app that sets my phone to act as a wireless AP. I can then browse the net over 3G, using my Vista DELL latitude 430, my Ubuntu DELL latitude 610, my wife's OS X ibook, or my Fedora Thinkpad. It's awesome, no software required on laptop, works with any hardware/OS with wifi support. Supports MAC filtering and/or WEP if you want added security.
The Android is totally insignificant. It looks horrible compared to the iPhone. The iPhone OS 3.0 update is coming out on wednesday and that also has built in tethering
sounds extremely similar to my phone call to AT&T in Ohio. They also said they will be charging $30 extra for tethering and were "supposedly" getting MMS support but not for a while. Probably near the end of summer.
While it sucks, I can hear AT&T and Apple's argument on the subsidizing thing. It makes sense that if you're only a year into a heavily subsidized phone's contract, then I wouldn't expect AT&T to do more subsidies unless they, of course, extended your contract's life 2 years PAST the end it would have been with your older iPhone, which would suck.
Wow, that AT&T rep was fantastically fucktarded. Obviously, he's just there to take care of account issues and such. Although, you'd think he'd know a little more about AT&T's most popular handset.
Send MMS messages and include video, photos, audio, and contact info.2 Even tap to snap a picture or shoot a video right inside Messages.MMS support from AT&T coming in late summer.
att suck the greed as taken over again with them I wont buy it they suck you in and then drop you ill stick with my 3G I should not have to pay double for video camera and a compas I want video chat and to send my pics to famly and friends
They are clueless. These are basic questions about the biggest phone in history and they have no clue. AT&T sucks ass! If their weak ass network can't handle the iPhone than they should let another company have the iPhone.
I know you were automatically able to upgrade from a Edge iPhone to a iPhone 3g still with the subsidized pricing. I hope the same holds true for the 3g S. Tho I don't really want to be in possession of 3 iphones..
Hey how do manage to get through to a Canadian call center instead to India where my calls are always get routed?;(
Anyways what I'm wondering is. Even if AT&T doesn't support tethering will they actually be able to prevent you from doing it anyway? I seems like any restrictions should be pretty easy to get around. I would think.
No specifics as of yet, though I'm sure MMS won't be too much of a problem. Tethering, on the other hand, will cost an extra amount. I'd imagine the cost will be something close to having a dedicated Mobile Broadband dongle with o2. Keep in mind, these are all features of the the new iPhone and OS 3.0. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to do it from release, whether the carrier will like it or not is a different matter.
What are you guys complaining of? Come to Brazil and you'll see what is telephone crap!"
