Yes, the partial reason why bees die when they sting (and no, they are not stupid for that, there are usually around 60,000 other bees to help out if only a few die in an attack) is because some of their organs and muscles are pulled out with the stinger. That is so that the maximum amount of venom can be pushed out from the stinger into the target, the muscles are set to move on their own for a bit longer.

The bee venom has Anti-inflammatory Agent called Melittin. It works well on disease like arthritis. I sting my feet for gout and so far it works better than the prescriptions meds I was on and the only side effects are a little swelling and some itching.
