They don't temporary suspend you after one offense. What happens is they log the activities (called docing) of every employee, for example, you call in sick, they mark it down, you steal some food, they mark it down, you give your friend a discount or free food, they mark it down, you don't show up they mark it down, etc, etc. After a certain number of offenses they have evidence to suggest you are losing the business money and can take disciplinary action.
@conman2317 As for the store inventory, McDonald's inventory runs off statistical data that has been acquired over years and years and years, it is actually head office that runs the reports and determines that required stock for each store at each location. This is the best method they have a prediction but they can never be perfect, you probably had a rush of customers for some arbitrary reason, or were being wasteful with your inventory. That would be up to the store owner not manager to fix
