I listen to a lot of music from various decades. My opinion about 80's music. It was a hit or miss decade. When a song was good, it was great! Like hearing the best song EVER made! When it was bad, it sucked hard! Early 80's New Wave was too short lived. First half of the 80's better than the second half. Also, 80's Glam "Metal" & late 80's Pop=Lame. Wouldn't say the 1991-1996 Rock era was better than the 80's but it was definitely better than 80's "Hair Metal" and late 80's Dance Pop!

I was born in 1981 and my dad always had music playing in our house. It was truly a magical time in many ways; no cell phones, no internet, etc. Music was great from the 80's through the 90's, and now is barely even good enough to call music. Even the alternative grunge we had in the mid/late 90's is better than the crap that plays on the radio now.

By the way, I watched the videos that I'm asking about in southern Nigeria -- again, around

1984. My siblings and I watched the videos over at our neighbour's. I remember we first watched the English-language version, then, some hours or days later, we watched the French-language version. The French version seemed (stereotypically) quirkier: more amusing in some parts and more stylishly edgy in other parts.
