Do the new ones fix that old tranny 'chucking' problem it had? It had problems transferring power to the wheels smoothly with the old 2.2 engine. I have no idea how well the new engines run, but I remember mine was TEMPERAMENTAL as hell.
To some of the commenters, The blue wire is traxxas biggest fail. Great concept, but it doesn't deliver enough voltage to the glow plug after even just a few uses. Too much resistance at where it connects to the glow plug, especially when hot. A nice *Hot Shot* ignitor not only delivers proper voltage, but locks to the glow plug incase you are running a pull start which is 100% necessary to lock or you'll need three hands to get it going.
@MarioJunior2011 not really a long time. i was running like 3 tanks a weekend. and i got like 12 or so tanks on a gallon. idk. it's a lot but then again it isn't.
and btw u looked like u were having a hard time starting it you should try to start it while kinda covering the pipe for a second that way it like prims it
your the dumbass pinching the fuel line leaning out your motor what an idiot the only thing pluging the exhaust does is flood the motor.. but dont you get the excess fuel out when your putting in your after run oil anyway?? it does absoloutly no harm but pinching the fuel line can damage the motor..
cause its not the way traxxas came up with... theres no harm to the engine and to tell u the truth ur realy waisting my time with this BS. iv been doing it this way for years and i havnt had any problems with my engines over this matter.
Try tightening your spur gear.... my 2.5r was doing that, and it was a loose spur gear. put a hex key or something in the hole in the spur gear shaft, and try to turn the spur gear. if it turns tighten it. u might gotta take the motor off to tighten it tho
factory settings for traxxas 2.5 2.5r and 3.3 are 4 turns out on the high speed needle from closed , a 1mm idle gap, and teh low speed should be flush with the end of the barrel on the carb...hope this helps everybody
Hey, if its that hard to start use gum out and richen the fuel mixture. when you say its slipping, your spur gear is probably too far from the engine, loosen your engine mount and move it closer to the spur gear.
Hey man you might not wunna use the top stuff it shorten's egnine life and have you ntoice why it's hard to start? use 15% bro you get a longer lasting egine and a healthy truck just some little edvice i used top fuel 33% in my t-maxx 2.5r it overheated the piston so swtich your fuel you will get a better responce.... :D
the 33% has just as much lube as the 10 or 20%. And overheating is not because of fuel. Its because of a bad tune. runs byrons 20 or 30 and it is easier to tune.
Also it is told by traxxas to not put your finger over the exhaust to turn off simply pinch the fuel line. it allows most os the fuel in the carb to be burned off.
i shut it off that way if im gonna start it back up in like 20 mins or less but other than that i do after run maintenance and everything. my 2.5r is still a pos tho starts 1 pull wen cold, takes 8-10 wen waarm.
I have the old first generation TMaxx.

NitroRC4life 2 years ago
B/c the wire only makes the plug blink on an off.... the plug ignighter keeps it hot untill you take it off.
