Learning good technique first hand its better to find a good teacher. Its also possible to use the huge amount of internet resources for self teaching. Learn the simpler chords first G, D, C, A, E, Am, Em. When you can shift between those chords easily you should start transition some basic bar chords. Its all about practice though, play everyday and try finding resources online for good techniques to get you going. Good luck.
