Its cornmeal... not cornbread.. the thought of cornbread pizza crust doesnt sit well :).. besides... its a very common practice/recipe to dust the crust with cornmeal.. I think its supposed to help sticking?? but not sure..
Either way this place is awesome... Ive been to lombardi's and most of NY best pizza and this place is right up there.. the best in Boston!!
Santarpios is delicious and I crave it all the time. It's probably the best pizza in Boston, but there's debate between that and Regina's so, if anything, it's one of the absolute best. If you go, definitely get the Lamb with extra peppers!
It's strictly a pizza place so there's no subs or salads or anything else besides Pizza, the two appetizers: lamb and sausage.
There is a second Santarpio's location coming to Peobody,MA. Construction should be done by May 2010. It will be on Route 1 North where the old Bennigan's was.
The chick who is interviewed as the pizza researcher is like some platonic ideal of trashy jewish hotness. If she' not from Long Island I'll eat my hat. Anyway, I would def. marry her. What's her number??!
yo shawn taylor go to Nicolosi's in Phillipsburg, NJ. Best pizza I ever had and I have had it all over. Good pizza doesn't have to come from a big city or new haven, ct lemme tell ya
I'd always noticed that older people seemed to particuarly like the pizza at Santarpio's, which made me suspect that it's an old fashioned recipe of the type that was more prevalent a generation ago. Still, I probably prefer the old school Italo-Boston atmosphere the food; pictures of Mike Eruzione (who has some connection to the place) on the wall & all.
Good piece.... I grew up on Santaps Pizza as did my dad when he was a kid. It's been around for around 80 years. Pizza, Lamb and Sausage.... that's it. Don't go expecting a fancy restaurant.
Get the name right kid !

Some suggestions... Drop the A when you say Santarpios......don't eat the pizza with a fork and knife..you have to fold it and hold it. :)

Santarpios pizza sucks. It is ran by rude asshole guinea wop waiters. I hope the place burns to the ground with all the employees inside.

You get upset rather easily. Oh well, you work on that and I'll work on a new pronunciation of the word "slice." Thanks for the comment.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll see what I can do. I love finding non-nyc, non-new haven pizzerias that are awesome. Thanks for the comment.
