  • Are they still dumping the green water on the first years?

  • Considering leaving Boston Architectural College for Cornell... your opinion on the economy's forecast and which would be better for architecture. So hard...

  • Comment removed

  • @H8Cr1me I'm sorry. Did you read this title? I go to Cornell; I'm not going to make any money. TRUTH

  • They are wasting their time with that crap. Students should be focusing all of their time learning AutoCAD, Revit, 3DS, and the principles of construction and entitlement. If there is any time after that they should be learning what they can about structural engineering.

  • @H8Cr1me ... WHO ARE YOU

  • @chnkgrl Someone watching videos on Architecture and drafting while I sit here and design a hotel.

  • @H8Cr1me I am making a synthetic landscape out of 3d scanned walnuts. LALALA

  • @chnkgrl Sounds fun. But in that same amount of time I could probably import my Revit model into 3DS Max, generate a 3D rendering for presentation, and bill the client. :) gotta get that money

  • @chnkgrl If your art doesn't get you paid you won't be doing it for very long.

  • @H8Cr1me ALSO TRUE

  • @H8Cr1me model building will ALWAYS be a useful part of architecture, those programs wont, other programs are always coming up and technology is always advancing, someone could just go study AutoCAD for 4 years and by then the software has completely changed and advanced. 3D Model building will always be a useful way to present a design.

  • @H8Cr1me I would'nt say that. Doing it by hand expresses whats in your mind. Show whats in your mind before you plug it in the computer. Its an excercise. :-D

  • @H8Cr1me ur gonna come up with some shitty design concepts if ur only using autoCAD and Revit

  • @H8Cr1me Anyone can learn programs. Thinking about architecture is what moves the profession forward.

  • what is that brown paper thing? wha is it called? where can i buy it?

  • @yonex310 carboard?!?!?!

  • @ignescentfilms I can't find the same one at amazon...

  • @yonex310 its brown board, you don't have it in your area?

    Any tips?

  • what inspired you to become an architect? Is it fun? Was the college good? i want to become an architect too!

  • UofA, University of Arizona

  • ahhh freshman architecture students. how absurd it all looks after making it out of school.

  • cest la vie.....

  • i'm not surprised that my studio at UofA looks very similar to this

    ...

i wish we had that many trashcans though

  • @KelTheLesbian

  • hey chnkgrl! can u plz tell me the name of the asian boy shown in the video(who shows his leftover meal and juice)... i know someone who resembles with him alot...please do tell, maybe u might become the source of our reunion

  • Your first year studio is waaayyyyy bigger than my first year studio was. =/

  • @vakno123 dude we dont even have a studio, al of our models are made at home

  • @ivanlunaelizarraras that's pretty brutal. Working in studio helps everyone push themselves harder

  • lol, the wire trees at 0:57 look so cute, lol.

    i want to pinch it.

  • Cool -from Miami, FL

  • That is impressive chnkgrl.

In 5 months from now I am going to study as a foreign student in Australia, all of my money will go to pay for the tuition fees (which is ~10 times higher for all foreigners). It was very inspirational to read that you have proven it possible to work/study successfully at the same time.

  • hey, is this undergrad?

  • SPONGEBOB!!

  • Ha 1:12 look at that chick passed out on her drafting desk.

  • have any of your architecture studio been almost closed down by the firemarshall?

  • right? there are so many students in there. big distraction for me.

  • @iCALEBORiCUA yea I dont like that studio so big

  • american is so much better than Britain

  • Architecture Studio is a WARZONE!...I seen a dude faint because he didn't get sleep in a few days.

  • that will be me.

  • I was about to reach yesterday

  • damn yall have a lot of people in your studio

  • Looks like every freshman design studio I've been in. You guys have cool lamps though.

  • i see.

what if you don't have time for a job with all the work load!! i heard it's intense....i'm thinking of doing architcture...can you please explain the kinds of projects we need to do? are they hard? do you need stellar imagination? and what is the presentations process like?

anyone is free to answer,...it'll help a lot, thanks

  • so i have to pay for all this expensive material for the models? what if you cant afford it? usually how expensive is arch studio class?

  • i like cad/architecture....do you like this schoo? how expensive is it?

  • that guy's a fag

  • gosh your studio's like a rubbish heap! i'm an architecture student too

  • ahhhh i want to go to cornell for my master's!

  • If thats Cornell work..goodlord help us

  • I've been working at an Arch firm for about almost two months now. What I'm doing looks nothing like what is done in this video.

That's not to say what they're doing is wrong, I am actually going to take my first course at Pratt in 20 days, perhaps aside from all the practical stuff, theory can be a way to aspire creativity?

I vow manipulating cheap materials gypsum boards in style = creativity, not everyone has money to pay for construction costs! lol!

  • Someone also once told me never sacrifice your creativity for practicality. Then you can be another Zaha Hadid. LOL! I am apparently biased. hhehehh

  • The tuition for this college is sooo expensive...hope its worth the education.

  • ahh, the good ol days....

    (not) :)

  • brings back memories of my own Dragon day in 1998!

  • aww...i miss cornell architecture and rand hall! i went to cornell summer college 2007 and had the time of my life. awesome video..remindes me of the good times this summer. =)

  • many indians out thre.....

  • its the number of students from all over the world that apply for cornell every year and the low number of students that get accepted that makes it hard. Probably lots of students do apply for this uni every year. Plus, its very pricey too, you wouldn't get by without some sort of part time job or financial aid.

  • Cornell....my dream university.....too bad its too hard for a foreign student to go there.

  • cool video

  • how many freshmens are there?
