My Dad was a scaffolder and actually built this stage and was at the front for the whole concert, me and my mum watched it all night on tele and I remember dad ringing up late saying he had a piss below Eric Clapton under the stage! I was only 8 and have loved Dire Straits ever since!!
Lovely, but this shows how great Clapton really is, if you listen to the "Real" Mandela Gig you can see that he snaps of a string just before his solo and have improvise a totaly new one! Awsome!
Never seen any of these warm up videos from the mandela concert before, but I got the dvd from the real gig and that is really awesome! Well... This is "pretty good" too.
Fantastic, I have always wondered if a recording of the warm up existed, I still can't see what the amp is though, This is the year he changed from Booie to Soldano but has the changed happened yet.
6:56 looks like john is looking right at you

You're absolutely right he does!!!
AND he broke a string at Knebworth 90 with Dire Straits too! Wierd or what!!!

@Leksingen Yes. But Clapton always improvises solos. No matter if he has 6 or 5 strings
