Xavier is right in choosing peace, not to quote scripture, but one must not repay evil with evil, since ultimately it will only escalate things and create a cycle of endless violence. On the other hand, there are those who can only be deterred with the threat of violence. If you do not retaliate then they will presume you are a pushover and will have no reason to not attack you again in the future. The lesson, resist the urge to fight back unless not doing so will actually cause more harm

This is a very fitting song, this was sort of an unofficial theme song for Lex Luthor on Smallville; ironic that both characters were best friends with who will inevitably become their greatest rivals. Great editing, nice pacing!

@WhySoSerious0331 they aren't greatest rivals in the comics. they're just on opposite sides, but have a great deal of respect for one another. Also, they both want the same thing (freedom of mutants), just have different methods to achieve that.

IMHO, Magneto is right and peace is NOT an option in that scenario. If mutants don't fight back, they would be rounded up in camps, experimented on and then executed. Cause humans can't accept and they fear what they don't understand.

@romaggot Yes I meant rivals in the sense that their destiny was to be on different sides of the issue. And I agree with you. I love Charles and his optimism, but there's a fine line between optimistic and naive. Erik was right, the moment they had the chance the humans turned against them.
