Poor John Locke... So under-appreciated by both the other survivors in the show and by the majority of the fans watching... Don't tell him what he can't do.
One of the best lost moments...Scratch that, one of the best scenes I've seen ever grace television. You wont get a show like this for at least another decade. It was truly remarkable.
Man, the writers of Lost really didn't like John Locke. He was my favorite character and they fucking murdered him. I wish I could have written the last 3 seasons and make it not stupid.
@Rude666 I didn't literally mean that they didn't like him. I said that because to someone who was new to the show or didn't watch in-depth, they would see Locke as hated by the creators of the show due to his unluckiness.
I could watch hours of Terry O'Quinn just walking around and looking apprehensively at things. This man is one of the most compelling actors in cinematic history
I want to be knocked out and loose all memory about Lost and rewatch every episode, this movie has been so life changing and its to powerful and emotional.. honestly there will be no better show than lost, i enjoy Breaking Bad but its not as powerful as lost is no way.
dudes, if for season 1 to exist season 6 had to exist I'd say we got the best deal ever, and would just chill with the "season 6 negates everything LOST accomplished" stuff...
Fuck you lost. You were so good. You made me watch 5 seasons of 40 minute episodes. 5 glorious seasons. Then you came out with season 6. My god was it a shit ending. Really disappointed.
@dragonangel6 no, fuck YOU, you don't deserve to call yourself a fan, you said it yourself you loved 5 seasons of it and yet you're attacking it? fuck you, you're everything wrong with television audiences.
@TheMindHeist My god... Wow. And it would appear you are everything wrong with calm minds. Seriously dude? @dragonangel6 you don't watch 5 seasons just to have the sixth season be amazing. you watch for the journey man, and you're doing it wrong. go take your hate train elsewhere. don't reply.
@TheMindHeist 'hate train' what are you on about? I was simply passing feedback to the moronic creators of Lost, and you come with your first three words 'no, fuck YOU,' I will ignore the in proper grammar as I see you clearly have childhood issues which forced you out of school. Oops, I guess I read that last bit too late, I accidentally replied, what you gonna do? Dickhead.
@dragonangel6 I appreciate you saying that. Btw what didn't you like about season 6? The season in general? Or the last episode where you find out the flash forwards were just a purgatory?
@Sora90Kairi Yes. My comment was really full of 'hater' content. Jeez. Some people need to a) Learn not to be a fan boy. and b) learn what a hater is. The final episode showed the ending of a stereotypical approach. It was lazy. All of those questions produced during the 6 seasons, you expected around 10 episodes nearer the end to get those answers, but they didn't bother > lazy. I can't think of a more stereotypical ending than 'Purgatory'. It's the exact same as ending your story with 'And I -
@Sora90Kairi - woke up and it was all just a dream'. 5 year olds do it, except 5 year olds don't produce 6 seasons of questions and then don't answer them. Learn something dickhead. In no way was my comment a hate. It was simply a measure of expressing my disappointment, if I hated it'd be something like 'FUCK LOST. IT'S THE SHITTEST SERIES EVER!' Sit down Kid.
@dragonangel6 Dude everything that happened on the island was real AND important. All the answers are imbedded in the show, you just have to put the pieces together.
When I watched this scene for the first time the other day, you can't imagine how much I wanted Locke to punch that bitch of a mother right in her fucking face.
Locke and Ben's episodes always had at least one epic moment. It's debatable which one was ultimatly the show's best character but Season 1 Locke is in the pantheon of great TV characters
It's such a shame that LOST became so convoluted and boring after the 3rd season. They could have ended it on a cliffhanger and I would've been happier than the half baked finale they gave us.

Back on the island, Boone was like Locke's son--he even calls him "son" informally in this episode. And who's blood is on Locke's back while he pounds on the hatch? Boone's. The irony is thick. Boone was a sacrifice the island demanded, a sacrifice that resonates with the Isaac/Abraham story--the reward? The hatch.
You know, Terry O'Quinn's acting is heartwrenching, the writing is magnificent, and the music is breathtakingly beautiful... but Eddy makes this scene what it is...
Is it embarrassing that I've listened to "Locked Out Again" over a thousand times on my Ipod and it still gives me chills and tear up from time to time?
This is, hands down, the most impactful moment in LOST history from me; I've watched it when I've been challenged, when I need inspiration, when I need hope.

when that hatch lit up, that was the peak of the whole feeling that the island was seriously more than just an Island. This right here, is when the Island truely felt alive
Lost has early episodes like this called Deus Ex Machina and then people get angry at spiritual elements toward the end. These people were just too stupid to not see that it always had spiritual elements.
@demiser21 especially those moaning that the show has always been science-fiction and not fantasy, but even though it's a combination of both no element of science fiction actually appeared until season 2. Fantasy was there first.
@sanyo51 parts of the second season and third season suffered from lack of direction, but once they declared an end date (roughly around the half way point in season 3) then it became a completely different show. It was brilliant.
Survive the ups and downs of that area of the series and you will be greatly rewarded. The second season's finale should be more than enough to keep you invested.
@Damon242 Wow, I couldn't disagree more. I followed Lost starting with season one, and I honestly think that one's the best. The third and fourth are also pretty cool, if only for some very memorable moments.
But personally speaking, I think the show really started going downhill in the later seasons. I felt it progressed too fast, without any questions being answered and without the same character development from before; was a bit sloppy.
I thought that the first three season progressed too slow, they answered even less questions, and the character development played upon what the first three seasons established and we actually saw payoff for it.
When the show decided to completely become serialized, it stopped running in place and actually got somewhere.
Issue with the first two and half seasons is that so much time passed, but so little actually happened. Hence the drop in viewers.
I've only seen up to Season 2 Episode 7 so far, but this is honestly the best ending to any show I've EVER seen. The music is fantastic, the mood is great... mind blowing.
@Creativedonkey Definitely. I'd suggest laying off the YouTube videos though mate. I'm on Season 5 at the moment and i've read some pretty annoying spoilers in youtube comments on some soundtrack videos, and once you've read them they're pretty hard to forget, believe me, I've tried slamming my head against all sorts. :( Enjoy it man.
The problem with a show like this and its actors is that they get typecasted. I just saw a preview for a lifetime movie with Terry Oquinn, and all I could think was " Look theres John Locke!" LOL
This scene is a perfect mix of writing, acting, and musical scoring. It is truly a tear-jerking scene, and amazes me in its perfection each time I see it. The sense of betrayal, loneliness, and yearning in Locke is palpable in this scene. For me, the scene's crescendo is O' Quinn's agonized cry when he says, "I've done everything you've wanted me to do, so WHY DID YOU DO THIS?!? WHY?!?" This is such a powerfully despairing statement, and so human, and so beautifully conveyed.
For anyone who's never seen Lost. The show has scenes this powerful throughout it. Every character has there moments and every episode a new character is your favorite. So go watch it. Now.
I like how under ever lost video now the whole story is ruined. I feel bad for anyone that is just getting into lost and goes to re-watch a scene and looks at the comments.
I feel like John Locke at the end of this episode ALL THE TIME. Every time I put my trust in someone, and believe that there's no way they could let me down, I've suffered enough, THEY GO AND LET ME DOWN. I try to be strong and the go-to-guy, minding all the morals and values a good, Christian person is supposed to have, just to find myself fucked over once more by a morally lacking world. Only a select few left in this world could relate to what happens in this ep.
@sickfixxreturns I see you're a fellow follower of Christ. It sucks living in a fallen world, doesn't it? But if we let it, the people who let us down in this world can serve to point us to the One who never, ever lets us down and who loves us as a perfect father. He doesn't even care about you "minding all the morals and values a good, Christian person is supposed to have." If you belong to His Son, that's all that matters. This doesn't make the world hurt less, but it does give it meaning. :)
@chadgeri All religious people are hypocrites. You people make me sick and if you think im possessed by Satan, you really need some help. You probably belive Ted Haggard wasnt gay, or that Jesus Christ was the only one of his kind. Most good Christians are sinners, liars, thiefs and morons. Thats the truth!
Hi Matt. No I don't think you're possessed by Satan. I don't know Ted Haggard so I won't make any judgments about him. Yes, I do believe that Jesus Christ was the one and only son of God as he claimed to be, but I don't believe that makes me a moron. Yes, I'm well aware that I'm a sinner, which is why Christ is my one hope of salvation.
Anyway, you've obviously had a bad experience with religion. I agree that hypocrisy is a big problem among the "religious" just as it was in Jesus' day. But there are plenty of secular hypocrites too, and I certainly don't agree that all followers of Christ are hypocrites. I know many who are the kindest most loving people I've ever known. Anyway sorry if I offended you -- I was just providing encouragement to a fellow Christian who was facing a struggle in life. God bless!
@WickedLiquid hahaha. yeah, dessie is probably like "wtf is going on up there? either there are a lot of coconuts falling on my door or there are people up there."
@jay041302 No it wasn't. Not even close. Walkabout was the first we inspiring nad legendary LOST moment and let you know that you were going to be watching a truly special show. Locke finding a miracle with all the chaos surrounding, all highlighted by perfect music and editing.
@ThatwasTERRIBLE: My guess is that he/she can relate to strong betrayal. Many people can relate to that. While people can relate to miracles in some format, the miraculous recovery from paralysis is less likely. So betrayl would be the high percent, miracles...the very low. While Ep.4 was very engaging, this episode gave Locke's character...well...character. Locke was my favorite, but it was the backstory of each character with the intrigue of the Island that made LOST so special.
If Terry had submitted this episode along with Walkabout for the Emmys during Season 1 he would have won. I still can't believe he chose The Moth over this for his Emmy reel. Big mistake on his part that cost him the Emmy.
John Locke was always the best character. This episode, Walkabout, The Life and Death of Jeremy Benam and The Man from Tallahassee were all the best episodes of the show (and coincidently they were all Locke episodes). When Locke was unceremoniously killed off in Season 4 the show was never the same
i have watched this scene over 500 times , no kidding , for years now i have been seeing it and no matter what it still gives me goosebumps , the acting and incredibel music , w.o.w
Locke always had the best episodes, and they typically have some of the strongest endings as well. The only one that comes close to Locke in terms of great centric episodes would be Ben in my opinion.

What most people never notice about this episode are the symbolic allusions. Locke was betrayed by his father--"stabbed in the back", as it were, and has a bleeding back to prove it. The hatch.

Only a select few left in this world could relate to what happens in this ep.
sickfixxreturns 1 year ago

FanaticmusicMatt 1 year ago
@FanaticmusicMatt
Hi Matt. No I don't think you're possessed by Satan. I don't know Ted Haggard so I won't make any judgments about him. Yes, I do believe that Jesus Christ was the one and only son of God as he claimed to be, but I don't believe that makes me a moron. Yes, I'm well aware that I'm a sinner, which is why Christ is my one hope of salvation.
chadgeri 1 year ago
@FanaticmusicMatt
God bless!

After watching episode 6x15 we can now understand how much meaning that light coming on had for Locke. =)

Locke's dad is a son of a bitch. He is one of the biggest douche bags in any form of media.
But Terry O'Quinn is one hell of an actor.

OcelotNow67 1 year ago
@jay041302 No it wasn't. Not even close. Walkabout was the first we inspiring nad legendary LOST moment and let you know that you were going to be watching a truly special show. Locke finding a miracle with all the chaos surrounding, all highlighted by perfect music and editing.
ThatwasTERRIBLE 1 year ago
@ThatwasTERRIBLE i can relate to this moment
jay041302 1 year ago
@jay041302 Your daddy stole your kidney too?
ThatwasTERRIBLE 1 year ago

Locke always had the best episodes, and they typically have some of the strongest endings as well. The only one that comes close to Locke in terms of great centric episodes would be Ben in my opinion.
shane9999100 1 year ago
@shane9999100 Locke, Ben, Sawyer, Desmond and Eko all had the best flashbacks IMO, while Kate, Ana Lucia and Claire had the worst
