  • this game kind of looks like Fallout 3...

  • just got this on STEAM for $4.99 today.

    what a STEAL!!!

  • the enemys are like cavemen, when they see fire, they get scared just like cavemen and they would run away :)

  • @tonyinthe602 Well, if you are in dry grass land and see a speading fire, you better start running. In such places fire can spread really fast, especially if the wind is blowing towards you. Quite a number of people are dying in bush fires every year.

  • @peri2502 yeah especially in Africa

  • @tonyinthe602 yes especially there

  • @peri2502 :P

  • 14 bucks on steam, along with ac1, tom clancy rainbow 6 vegas 2 and call of juarez

  • That transition between vehicle positions really is top-notch, but I totally agree on the weapon jamming. Game devs have gone way overboard with that concept. Starting from 100% new condition, guns just don't wear down as quickly as they do in games. It especially cheeses me off when it's a high-class rifle like the HK G3 (which is known for reliability). Also, the G3 has a non-reciprocal charging handle but it reciprocates in FC2 (same for the MP5 from the unmodded STALKER games).

  • @IggyHazard I fully agree. I hate games where your weapons feel like they were made in Taiwan.

  • @peri2502 Have you played the STALKER games?

  • @IggyHazard Yes and I love them. But there also, weapons degrade too fast. Your gun goes from perfect condition to "falling apart"after about 500 rounds. And we are not even talking about the gun needing cleaning. You have to take it to a mechanic to have it repaired. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind a jam feature in a shooter, but it should not become a chore to paying regular visits to a mechanic in the game just to make sure your weapon won't break down, or having to carry 3 rifles around.

  • @peri2502 What if some day they implement field-stripping and weapon cleaning in FPS games? In the Oblivion Lost 2010 mod for STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl, you can get weapon repair kits. They're one-off items that instantly return your worn-out weapon/armor to 100% condition. In Fallout 3/New Vegas, you can macguyver your own repair kits out of junkyard scrap. In either series, you can also pay mechanics to repair your stuff. By the way, have you heard of Project Reality?

  • sound out of sync

  • There is a cheat for the pussies who cant handle a bit of jamming

  • @eatbeavers The jamming is over-exaggerated so it's not an issue of "pussies." Guns just don't wear down that fast, especially not a well-made and respected rifle like the G3.

  • @IggyHazard Can´t handle the jamming?

  • @eatbeavers I just don't think it should be so exaggerated. HK rifles and SMGs are well-made and you should get a lot of use out of them before they jam even once (assuming it starts out in like-new condition and your ammo isn't faulty). And I wish your character would use pliars to clear jams (pliars are standard equipment anyway) unless you're using a weapon with an open-top receiver. Then you won't need to. A stovepipe jam in an open-top receiver is easy to fix.

  • @IggyHazard Well yes since all he does is smash the gun with his hand ? :p

  • @eatbeavers His point is that it's not just a "bit" of jamming. It's way over the top. Plus, yer dude doesn't clear the jams right. For example, with a pump shotgun, if you have a "stovepipe" in the ejection port, you don't bang on the receiver to get it out. Usually, you can just pry it out by hand. Otherwise, you could use needlenose pliars (which are basic equipment in this game anyway). Pumps don't usually jam unless the user "short-strokes" it (which is operator error).

  • @IggyHazard And since when was games meant to be realistic?

  • @eatbeavers Well, it's clear that they're at least making an attempt. They're just being halfassed about it. Anything worth doing is worth doing right. And you don't have to sacrifice gameplay for realism (or vice-versa). They can be perfectly reconciled. It's just a matter of figuring out the right way to do so. Ever heard of Project Reality? Look it up here on YT. Grenade launchers function realistically in that game even to the point that you can aim them AND set their angle of trajectory!

  • @IggyHazard They never claimed any type of realism so who fucking cares?

  • @eatbeavers We should care because firearms should be represented realistically in video games and movies. We shouldn't allow our intelligence to be insulted by laymen.

  • @IggyHazard Why force proper gun use on people?

  • @eatbeavers I could just as easily turn that around and ask "why force improper gun use on people?"

  • @IggyHazard No one is forcing anything on anyone, not a HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR WEAPON IN THE FIELD game ffs.

  • the audio sync was waaaaay off

  • gun jamming is a great feature!!! they dont jam if you upgrade them -which i think is a really good idea- but if you make regular trips to the arms dealer you wont be faced with that problem.

  • 20 by 20 "square miles" - that would be 400 square miles. I think the game is about 7 Kilometers by 7 Kilometers - or approximately 50 square Kilometers - or about 18 square miles...

  • far cry 1 was a let down i didn't like it....But this has restored my thaith in far cry i WILL get this game

  • dont work on my pc cuz i have widescreen :(

  • Lag

  • I like the fire dynamics but I dont like the way it looks, I felt that it could have looked a bit better.

  • @Pinface34 why do u british people sound like you have a cock your mouth. "would you like to hov a cuppa tayy?"

  • @samslykid Stereotypical

  • @samslykid Because we aint dumbass americans my good sir.

  • fuck you

  • I'm sure this guy just doesn't understand how weapon quality works. Yes obviously a weapon is going to jam if you use it too much or pick up an enemies weapon. Can he not see how degraded his G3 is? Thats why you BUY WEAPONS!

  • Its only 10$ on Steam for the PC right now. Buy it before it goes up to 20$ again!

  • Actually you never spend any time more than 5 minutes killing people. This game is awesome. Got it a couple days ago. And i recommend it

  • i have a 8600gt 256 mb car and a 3.1 ghz duel core amd athilon 2 2 gb of ddr3 ram and im running this game on very/high settings and its damn smooth

  • everytime you go through a village or something you have to kill everyone. Cool at first but everytime you leave the village everyone comes back to life and you have to do it again and again and again.

  • nah its good lol

  • i thought this game would be awsome, trust me its not. u will find urself wanting to throw ur controller against the wall. fc2 is boring and frustrating. i had to switch it off after less than an hour. fc2 is a nicely wrapped piece of shit!

  • @thispagesux hahaha frustrating? your a fucking dumbass. it is a good game. go bck to playing the shitty mw2.

  • @Pinface34 it depends where do u come from dickhead?

  • the guns dont always jam only the old crapy ones u pick up from dead bodies but theres onenes that u buy at the store that are in perfect condition and any gun will get old and worn out over time and eventuly break compleatly

  • sound is delayed lol

  • sorry. sound is ahead

  • Because we don't have fake accents

  • It seems more real when the guns jam..

  • Good review, I have to say to anyone who hasn't got it, get it!

I got some wicked deal for mine £7.99 for a game as awesome as this :)

  • lol screaming guy at the end XD

  • i <3 this game xD

  • Great review

  • They jam to make it more reaistic, you can always buy guns and take them from your gun house and they will be 100% good!

  • what resolution are you running this game at?

  • I think it's cool that the guns jam it adds some more suspense in the fire fights

  • yeah, and make is WAY more realistic and always leaves your thinking "Let's not just rush in there, that wont work"

  • i don't mind the gun jamming, ive never had one jam on me yet though,as i get enough diamonds to buy new guns if i can....great game!.

  • only stolen guns jam......buy new ones you cheapskate ...

  • no, new guns can jam they just take a lot longer because, of course, they are new.

  • I remember in STALKER my weapons would occasionally jam. Rarely, but it happened once in a while. It was the most frustrating thing in the world when it happened, even though it almost never happened. I can only imagine what it would be like if it happened more like it does in this game. Looks like an awesome game though.

  • Your gun rarely jams if you've bought a repair manual and restock weapons a lot. I wish they would jam more, even in their best condition. Like your rifle jamming and having to take out your secondary to defend youself.

  • dumb of him to complain about the gun jamming...That's actually kind of cool

  • So when you did a search for a FPS game like Far Cry 2 it means you are NOT a faggot, right? :-)

  • the only problem with this game is driving around!! ya it realy cool but there is so much driving and there is constan fights you will be driving and u get rid of a guard post they chase u with machine guns u kil them 1 second l8er some guy comes out of no were and u have to kil him to this hapens like 4 times while ur heading to 1 place

  • WTF is the guy saying he said that its bad that the weapons jam, wat a tard it realistic of coarce thied do that

  • @insanemutant1876 weapons doesn't jam every 20 minutes, if they do you should get a new one

  • @insanemutant1876 no he says tehy done it to much

  • @insanemutant1876 Yes, weapons do tend to jam (except for the AK, which almost never jams in real life), but as in most games that implement weapon degredation, it is over the top and can quickly get annoying. More often then not, you will have to replace your weapons after every mission or two, which adds nothing to the gameplay and is a pain in the butt on top of that. You can virtually watch your gun rot in yhour hand in the course of a day. That's kind of silly.

  • @peri2502 AK almost never jams in real life haha you do realise people who have AK's make them by themselves with cloth and sticks.

  • @TheCdeboy Well it depends on how well you take care of it. I have seen an AK 47 being rolled over by a truck, thrown into the mud, and hit with a sledgehammer and that thing would still fire afterwards.

  • @peri2502

    sure ...

  • @TheCdeboy Well I can't force you to believe me. But a jamming AK is almost alwats due to old or bad ammunition. The tolerances on the gun itself are very high so mechanical failures are very rare. Look it up if you doubt it ;)

  • @peri2502 Obviously when cave men make them they would last forever.

  • @insanemutant1876 Eh, what he means is it jams too often and is over-exaggerated. The HK G3, for example, is a very reliable weapon and you'd probably have to beat on it and run it over with a truck before it jammed as often as it does in this game. He isn't against the idea of weapon jamming. He's just saying it's over-exaggerated. Also, he could be implying that it would be a good idea to be able to repair your own weapons with kits (a la Fallout 3 and New Vegas).

  • i love this game, if it had Co op and a better story it would be the best game out this gen.

  • The lack of gore is a really a killer for me in this game. It is good fun nevertheless.

  • i love far cry 2 :D

but to bad its to easy

    i beat it in 2 days >.>

  • what difficulty was you playing at?

  • im playing on normal

  • ok then. I play it on Hardcore or Infamous. Since i find it more realistic that way. If you think the game is too easy, try those difficulties to get some more fun out of it. If you like a bit of a chalenge that is :)

  • should i get this or fallout 3

  • Fallout 3, to be honest. Far Cry 2 is better as a shooter, but Fallout 3 is a better game overall.

  • you sound old

  • While the free ammunition(or bullets as the reviewer calls it) is cool, it is not realistic as the reviewer says. Cartridges by themselves will not "spray everywhere" as was said in the review. The SHELL is what becomes a projectile, and the bullet itself remains in the same location it started in. The shell is usually projected with the flat end first, and doesn't have enough force to do any serious damage. Just a little info for your next FPS review. The review was helpful though, thanks.

  • the reason u jam is cus u dont buy guns u pick them up u should buy them go diamond hunting thats what i do

  • what player yo using?

    (i love this player)

  • hang on, you said something wrong there mate, you said, i hate the way the weapons jam, and the blood is really great too, im afraid thats not very proffesional in the way you just switch from one to another and then back like that. Dw though its a good review, shows lots of the game

  • getting this with my new vid card and it looks awsome

  • COOL

  • i am gonna buy this game it looks really wicked also how many diamonds do you start off with

  • you start off with none, but after the first mission, the guy tells you where one is and you find it; its worth ten diamonds (and im pretty sure thats the only one, the rest are worth 1,2,or 3.

  • Love the style of review! Very normal! Love it. Love it. Love it.!!

  • both the graphics and the physics is better on crysis but when it comes to game play far cry 2 is better

  • The animations are better. e.g. it looks more realistic as in more human but crysis as you said is better in quality for people who don't need realistic movements. I really want this game. Looks fun.

  • if tehya dd this game aniamtions into crysis i would buy the game even if it was worth $100 !

    lol

i love crysis as gameplay but hate its animations but i love farcrys animations :D

  • would far cry 2 play good on a asus 9800gt graphics card?

  • yeah

i can run it on very high on the 8800GS

  • yes

  • Even 5 hours these days is better then most game's. Other then MMORPG's where people are known to spend hundreds of dollars a year on them. Most shooters people get 4-6 hours.

  • you are a bull shit artist my friend

  • I agree with you, they said everything is destructible. In reality only a few sheds are breakable. The tires on vehicles won't even pop if shot. The vehicles look like tonka toys too.

  • really good review

  • It's 50km2x50km2, not 20km2x20km2.

  • im getting this game with my x-mas money i like the realisticness liek the jamming and graphics. im also looking forward to the map editor unliek halo3 u can actually make a map from stratch

  • nice review, and nice game

  • What the hell were you expecting thefool19!?

    It's a review, a good review I might add.

    Fool.

  • yes he lives up to his name doesn't he. great review i'm gonna buy this game now

  • people seem to overlook the fact that alone in the dark was the first game to use real time damage systems and dynamic fire propagation. that said, far cry does both better, but people seem to claim that far cry invented both.

  • its great that things can jem in this awsome game... more funnn :)

  • does ur health reganarate if u dont take no damage or is it only the injetions which make ur health go up or are there food and stuff?

  • Let me see: better than crysis and more and more light of a computer configurations?

    WTF HOW IT IS POSSIBLE?

  • for 360?

  • yes!

  • ilike how it injecting yourself with a needle of stuff makes you heal after being burnt ? :D

  • The only problem is the jamming and vehicles breaking down is so far from being realistic it's not even funny.

  • Early in Vietnam marines were getting killed because of there m16s jamming in the wet, dirty environment. Yes guns jam and if I take a machine gun and shoot your car repeatedly I think it might just break down

  • I never said that weapons DON'T jam. I'm all for weapons to jam in games, it just adds to the realism.

But the amount of times the weapons jam in FC2 is total shite. Most of the time you're better off using the machete because of the amount the weapons jam.

The vehicles break down way too quickly too, a car in a demolition derby doesn't break down as quick.

As for the M16 comment, the weapon was new and as such, the rifles weren't being maintained as they should have been.

  • Well I havet played the game yet, but I like that your guns can jam. Though I do think its stupid that you can't clean your gun. So it won't break on you in a middle of a firefight.

  • When I first heard that the guns could jam in the game I was excited about it too...until I was able to play the game, they do jam way too often.

  • Thats why you should by the reliability manuals and also consistently pick up new weapons as you pass by the gun shop (which I find myself doing a lot)

  • yeah agreed, way easier just to use a gun from the shop

  • Good stuff there. Where is the game meant to be set in?

  • Africa

  • the gun jamming is cool, but here's the problem... Ubi obviously knows nothing about guns or did any research anything about guns. When you pick up an AK47 from an enemy it tends to jam quite a bit. Ak47s are one the most reliable weapons in the world and rarely jams and yet in this game it jams all the time

  • they try and make it equaly to the other guns but if u check that stats it as 100% reliablity the shit that i hate most the gaurd post them motherfuckers are every where motherfuckers will shoot u in sight

  • great freaking game =] good review Andy.

  • Very Professional! You could work for GT :D

  • Wow, I've never really thought about playing this game, but now I think I'll reconsider. Also, it looks fabulous on your machine. What kind of rig to you have?

  • You sir, are an idiot

  • the guns jamming isnt supposed to be a problem of the game. Its supposed to be realistic. If you buy new guns, they dont jam as much.

  • Im just not feeling this game.

  • yea good job dude was pro

  • Great review andy, looks a really good looking game.

  • the game is 50km2 by 50km2

    not 20 lol

  • serious FAIL, not 50km2 by 50km2

    its 50km2 = 50 square kilometres!

  • He said 20 square miles

  • man that looks so cool i got to get it

  • review sucks !!!

  • Your channel SUCKS!! Zero videos and two favorites. You're a real contributer to YouTube.

  • I'm so pissed off. The shop I was trading my games into to get this game sold my reserved copy.

  • I'm sorry to hear that.

  • good review

  • Thank You.

  • Very nice review, thanks :D

  • Thank You.

  • i just unlocked the dart rifle the the owner isn't there what do i do

  • Well the jamming is realistic becuease africa is dirty my friend. And allso ubisoft team wants you to do buddie missions to get diamonds to buy better weapons. Allso you could have said its a pain in the ass to like drive so much....

  • ok weapons jam but they dont jam as much or as the game makes them look like they jam becuase in real lifean AK47 will have about 23 jams ina lifetime of dirt mud and blood and if it were to jam it wouldnt be as hard as this pussy makes it look like.

  • is there an optional HUD?

  • I did not see one.

  • Oh, and he said "You press 5, on the computer version"

  • looking really good there Andy, i was a bit wary about purchasing this as it was made by Ubisoft. But from watching this it looks really good. Can i ask a few things? Do you think the world is as explorable as Oblivion? And what is the "actual" objective, because from watching this it just looked kind of like free roam.

  • Oh, also, was that on your PC or PS3?

  • By the steering of the vehicle at the begining I'd guess PC. If you had sticks you could steer really smooth. In here the wheel was moving in bursts.

  • The version I'm on is for the PC, The world I would say is about as explorable as Oblivion, there aren't really any dungeons to explore underground, but there are some nifty buildings, The overall Objective is to kill a man by the name of the Jackel, how you get there and what you do along the way is what makes the game.

  • good eview what about mutiplayer

  • I didn't have much to say, it's just typical Death Match, Team DM, and a couple of other unique options, just like any other FPS Multiplayer game.

  • Looks good. Nice reveiw as usuall ANdy. Oh, Grossman Update. I've recentlly moved from Denver to Lake Elsinore, California.

  • About the jamming effect, is it possible to repair weapons that get jammed up a lot? Or will your favorite personal weapon eventually become too damaged to use and you will have to discard it?

  • I think you can´t repair a weapon, it just gets older and then it exploads, so you have to buy a new one. : )

  • weapons picked up from enemies are more vulnerable to jamming. When you buy a weapon with diamonds, it rarely jams and you can always pick up a new one from your storage if you lose it.

  • Ah I see, so when you buy a weapon you can replace it when you want? You don't just buy one?

  • Yes but the point was, that the new one's start to jam way to much and way to quickly.

  • yes you can always pick up a new gun that you've purchased at a storage room, they are located next to every gun shop :)

  • Hey, Andy. Do you think you could do a review for Dead Space? It'd be great for Halloween.

  • but i miss one thing in the night time there is no flashlight WTF?!?!?

  • Yeah there is, Flame Thrower :)
