  • finished mine: 17volt 75amp~. it was a small MOT i got from a small microwave in the garbage.

  • yeah... i just broke the primary of my MOT trying to figure how to rewind my secondary.... and still everything is glued together... :\ well.. at least now i know i can rewind the entire MOT from scratch... 48v 26amps that's more than enough and all i need..! :)

  • @dzdice Let me know how you go, rewinding the primary is a hell of a job, and fitting that may turns on there again is usually an issue.

  • You could use that as a spot welder!

  • Hours and hours with a hacksaw, screwdriver and hammer :)

I started off by cutting off the exposed part of the winding, then using the screwdriver and hammer to knock the parts out of the core.

  • @LPFthings lol cool

mine took only like 45 min

    i used a chizel

  • @animebsd Mine only takes like 15 minutes to take the old secondary out. All I do is stick the MOT in the vise, hacksaw one exposed side of the winding out, and hammer out one side of the old coil at a time. I will make a video of it when I make my next high current transformer, since my last one got fucked up, shorted and bunt out in a big ball of smoke.

  • How did you remove the original winding from the transformer?
