  • @MrGrevy Woah. That all sounds fascinating. I myself take pride in planning and attending Sock Hops and Box Socials. In an age of uncertainty, one man will rise to take his place among the legends. One man. One hope. One future. One Grevy.

  • Thank God they god rid of this angry, incompetent turd. How do "people" like this moron keep getting work??

  • Loved Julie Taymour works on Broadway. This is not the movies. She is producing live theater people. Work it out Julie. Love ya!

  • In which of those hundreds of comic books did Spider-Man fly?

  • The musical's failure was just the result of giving an unbelievably good director WAY too many liberties with the show itself.

Someone just needed to tell her "NO" a long time ago!

  • @UWB596 If you think Taymor is anywhere near being a "good director", you are delusional. You are a joke. please keep supporting this incompetent idiot, it's amusing.

  • @MrGrevy Oh you must be right. Please enumerate all of the qualifications that would enable you to be an authority on this subject! I can't wait to hear all about how impressive you must be.

  • @UWB596 You're adorable. I don't need "qualifications" to state the obvious (who on Earth thinks that way?). It is obvious to everyone that she is incompetent. Do you even know how bad she screwed up Spider Man? Lol I love that you think a person needs qualifications to have an opinion. You are utterly bizarre, but very amusing!

  • @MrGrevy Thank you! I pride myself on being adorable. And you're totally right, I had forgotten that you don't need qualifications to have an opinion. I was merely determining the merit of your critique based on the amount of actual theatrical knowledge you have and not simply because you deeply dislike this one director. For example, I really dislike Shaquille O'Neill, but I don't really have any professional basketball playing experience. I hope that you can understand what I'm trying to say!

  • @UWB596 I said nothing untrue, and knowledge of theater does not equate to having a valid point. Again, you lack critical thinking and it is amusing to see you try to muddle through making silly, irrelevant points. You have nothing of value to say, so you simply demand arbitrary credentials. Very sad.

  • @MrGrevy It would appear that we all have a very different definition of what is "arbitrary." While I do love the ridiculous tone of your posts when you use words like "silly" and say things about how I "lack critical thinking," I feel like these inclusions are entirely unnecessary. You don't like Julie Taymor's work. Fine. However, attacking people for their views on a YouTube comment thread is absolutely pointless, and --when all is said and done-- expose nothing but your lack of understanding

  • @UWB596 I guess you're unfamiliar with the concept of disagreement? In fact, you do lack critical thinking skills, nothing untrue or mystifying about that. I love the irony of you pointing out your bizarre perception that I "lack understanding" when I have laid out all of my points with clarity and precision - you, however, have posted nothing but confusion over someone not seeing things the way you do. You have posted nothing of substance in support of Taymor. Again, your posts are sad.

  • @MrGrevy Are you getting angry? I hope that your New Year's resolution is to use a nicer tone when you write your points online! No one's going to hold your hand at the Annual Sock Hop if you don't write in a nicer way! Happy New Year, MrGrevy!

  • Youtube commenters are far too goofy and childish to arouse an emotion like "anger" as you put it. I also do not believe in "New Year's resolutions".I do not have a fixed idea of what my life should be.Those improvements happen organically, for me, and without planning. I do not attend Sock Hops. I find the very idea frivolous and achingly old fashioned. No need to harken back to a time when our society was even more repressed and oppressive than it is now.

  • Julie can laugh all the way to the box office.

  • All for nothing. Sad.

  • I love Spiderman.

I paid full price for my tickets which I saw on 01/02/11.

In my honest opinion this show was horrible!

  • Let me say, you did a horrible job. Its the honest truth.

  • Incredible , awesome everything Mr TAylo does is awesome , people with negative comments don´t have a clue of the "GREAT" artistic concepts and visual of Mrs TAylor and she always hire the top one creative people to work along in each project, I believe that shes out of this world , And even do Im not a fan of Spider MAN the "comic" I will travel from my country all the way to NYC to watch the show absolutlly yes I love Bono and July Taymor is a woman you all American people should be PROUD!!!

  • @dogwithbluedots No one seems to agree with you. That's the problem with wannabe artists - they don't believe other people when they tell them how bad they suck.

  • fighdgggighuidfgiudfhgiuhgiuhshgghogogodhoghohosghosghoghogoisjgoijosjgoisjgosjgoisjgosgjosjgoijgosjgosjgoigjoisgjoigjosgjoisgjoigjoigjoigjogogjodgjodgjogjodgjogjodgjogjogjodgjdogjgodjgogjoijgogjoisjgoijgosjgogjosgjojgosgjogogjosgosgj

wow look every one i was able to fit every comment ever on youtube into one passage isnt awesome. most people just try and make one comment but i wanted to make all of theme.

  • Lier Lier Lier you have not read one fucking comic if you had you'd know that it would never work

  • While I have no expectations for this show, I SERIOUSLY hope it's amazing.

  • the goblin??? which one??

  • i think she knows what she's doing and lets not foret this is the woman who allowed you to sympathise with actors dressed as and behaving like lions on stage. I think this musical could do well and come on U2 have won loads of grammy and other award for their music I think this show will be good bit only time will tell.

  • @independantwoman Haha, looks like you were 100% WRONG!

  • I like some of Julie Taymor's work, but she is strongest in production design, not writing or directing. In this video, she comes off as ridiculously pretentious, and I predict now that "Spiderman: Turn off the Dark" will go down in history as one of Broadway's biggest disasters.

The only way I can see of saving it is if Alan Cummings turns it into a camp fest like "Rocky Horror Picture Show."

  • @Frieda18 I dont think ANYTHING will EVER top her work on "The Lion King".

  • Spiderman The Musical got canceled :-(

  • Good.

  • REALLY?! DX I mean... it sucks that he can't sing with the mask on... I mean no one could, but... they cancelled it? =[

  • not cancelled yet trying to raise money to finish the show they just didnt have enough money

  • oooh. I misheard then

  • Must be back on......

    Tickets are on sale now.

  • I heard that too

  • I'm getting concerned. I'm a huge Spider-man fan for about 15 years now. Don't get me wrong I think it's great to show the inner feelings of Peter through song. But, the fact of Spiderman not singing in "Spiderman the Musical" bothers me. I know he has to move around a lot but can't he stand and sing for some moments. Well, I hope Bono and the Edge made some classic hits, they usally do. :)

  • You dorks, she means that he moves from one way to another "not walking" or that he is constantly moving! and she meant that spiderman CAN'T SING WITH THE MASK ON that's why she will use something else.

    Dam guys grow up!

  • guys, fly is a generic term for someone moving through air. think for a minute will ya..

and rest assured that taymor has done her research. its what professional adults do. she directed the lion king on stage; im sure she KNEW that lions didnt really talk with birds.

    grow up.

  • did she say fly! Fly! did this women not read the comics!

look i may not be the biggest spider-man fan, but i know what's what in the comics and flying is not on the list of super-powers (unless you count when spider-man had cosmic powers)

and further more spider-man the musical just sounds plain stupid!

  • Comment removed

  • WTF?????????????

  • What?! Spidey wouldn't sing in costume?! WTH?! Ugh!! And flying? um, he WEB SWINGS. you know, "THWIP"???? I don't think she read anything. She probably watched the movies and then decided not to pay attention to the details. This is going to be terrible. What's the fun of a Spidey musical if the Spiderman identity doesn't sing!?

  • She said Peter Parker would sing, but not when he's spiderman. How cheesy would that be?

  • guys

........isnt she talking about a theater act???....cz she said smthng about stage and staff like that....i dnt thnk she is tlkng about a movie

    correct me if im wrong

  • Yeah, this is for the Broadway version of Spider-Man.

  • she admitted it, Lizard for spidey 4

  • Hey, is that the lady President from Battlestar Galactica?

  • O-kaaaaay...she seems to be too obsessed on the baddies, not a genuine, gripping story or event, so it's gonna be a spectacle musical only.

Also, 'flyiing'? Last time I checked, webhead was king of the swingers.

And with a score and lyrics by Bono and The Edge, I dread that this whole thing is gonna turn out to be craptacular. Count me out.

  • I'm with Ryan Reynolds. I wanna see Deadpool the Musical.

  • You missed Iron Spider-Man? Red yellow costume. :P

  • Spider-man best superhero of them all

  • @100yearsofhope Batman. 'Nuff said.

  • O_O spidey flys o_O think i missed something to ok i just came back after washing my ears out and watch it again yep def heared her say fly lol

  • Well he flew when he was the SPider-Phoenix and when he had the power-cosmic . . . But I'm guessing she is just referring to swinging through the city-catching air.

  • spider-man is the best super hero

  • he does fly! i've seen it!

  • after peter parker smokes a doobie.

  • I think it will be awesome. I wonder who will play the lead?

  • Lol I really am not sure of how good it's going to be but I'm wiling to go see it because Spider-man is that awesome...

  • Evan Rachel Wood (Lucy from Across the Universe) is playing Mary Jane! Much better than Dunced I think.

  • Guys, I don't think she meant he flies literally. It's just a metaphor for the speed and acrobatics of his webslinging. So don't be so hard on her.

That being said, whoever came up with the idea for a Spiderman musical must have been smoking crack mixed with PCP. What has the world come to?? Perhaps next somebody should make a Brady Bunch comic book. It could guest star Barney the Dinosaur as a villain. Then make action figures of the Teletubbies.

  • I think they already have action figures! XD jk

  • flies ???? oh well id still creampie her

  • What a great idea... blend 40 years of stories into a [not] singing and flying spiderman. All in under 2 1/2 hrs....

    really?

    Have you lost your minds?

What a horrible idea; even from a marketing standpoint!

    Jesus; where is Stan?

  • yup, coz spiderman flies!

  • because spiderman flys. -_- she obviously knows alot about spiderman.

  • In one of the comics of Spider-man, he was fighting Magneto and there was a moment he was able to actually fly.

In another comic where he was fighting Titania. At some point, where she's keeps coming at Spider-man, until finally Spider-man lost his temper with her and shot her with an energy beam.

Don't believe me, look them up.

  • He probably still had cosmic powers...

  • "I did my due diligence and read hundreds of comic books" ...never once noticing those strange web-like things he's holding onto.

  • This is going to bomb.

  • oh well thanks for clearing it up

  • he flies....I rather see him sing in the costume than fly.

  • of course he can fly. all spiders can fly. lol

  • fail

  • i think she means swing over fly

  • LMFAOOOOO good point there XD

  • since wen does spider man fly

  • He could fly when he was Captain Universe....

  • Can you say soon to be Fail, wait failblog has been needing some new stuff here u go!
