Thanks for the positive comments everyone. It was a long, painstaking process to get it right - I think we did damn good. We believe that 'less is more'; deciding against flat black hemi billboards, flashy wheels, etc. The next lucky owner can customize if they choose, knowing they started with an awesome piece of Mopar muscle built with attention to detail throughout.
i'd take this car a leave it in my garage, and drive a hooptie that looks like crap all day long... as long as i know my cuda is waiting for me to come home.. damn that sounds fantastic.!
All had shaker hoods? Sorry my bud had a real 71 Hemi Cuda his had the cross ram hood, went with the cross ram dual 4 barrel carbs on the intake. His was a 4 speed. And it was one bad ass car. Brings back memories riding around in that beast back in the 70's.
My bad - you're right. I thought they all had shaker hoods. OOPS :) I'm still learning... and trying to remember all the details for the various models.
I haven't driven ours in months which I'm not happy about. She's tucked away, waiting to sell. We thought about taking her to Phoenix for Barrett-Jackson in January since we'll be there to see one of our other cars go on the block but decided not to.
Love the Cuda! Leave the black mags and white lettering the way it is. Great look! Looks meaner and all business! I'm looking to do the same look to my 440 Challenger which is all black but with ralleye rims. Are you running 275s on the rears?
71 hemi 'cudas always had the shaker hood which makes this correct. As for the tires, we chose to do white lettering out since there's so much black & very little chrome. Easy to change according to taste.
@rokrmom Hello, where is your guys' shop located? Got a '73 Fury that's in pretty good condition but I plan on keeping the car for a very long time, I might want to do a full restoration later on down the line.
Sorry for the delayed response - we were on vacation :)
We're in Portland, OR... where are you?
We have contacts with haulers & have done 'remote' restos in the past so it's feasible even if you aren't local. If you want to explore it further, probably best to private message us with contact info.
@rokrmom I'm down by Barksdale AFB :( the only real problem with my car seems to be paint bubbling up / cracking from trapped moisture etc. I've replaced a small patch of metal on each side of the car (where the roof was welded to the body) and there are three or four other "paint bubble" issues that seem less severe, but i'll have to see. Anyway, will you give me your company/shops name, just incase? No matter what the damage turns out to be, my car deserves to look similar to this 'cuda!
Awesome. Nothing meaner than a black '71. however, I'd put on a black elastomeric bumper on the front. Black 'Cudas never came with black grilles, so if you go black, go ALL BLACK! Just my $0.02. Nice ride.
Not an SRT-4, unfortunately. I had an R/T but sold it and bought the SXT which I customized so it wouldn't look like every other white Neon on the road :) The cuda is one of our best projects - we own a restoration shop called Modified Mopars. We do more than just Mopars but that's our specialty for sure. Our driveway is full of Mopars from 1963 to 2005.
This was done in our shop as our personal car - it's a fresh restoration with less than 50 miles on it for fine tuning. She's got a 426 crate hemi with a 4-speed pistol grip and is FUN to drive!! The 440s are good and plenty of power but the hemi is the most desirable in the Mopar world.
A hemi and a 440 are two different motors - 2 of the many Mopar offered back in the day. At the end of the day, it's a matter of weight vs. horsepower ratio. A lighter car with a less HP could beat a heavier car with more HP in a given distance. It would take me a while to explain it all and I'm heading out of town... In my opinion, they are the 2 most desirable options and a thrill to drive. I am blessed to have choices in that regard :)
@Miguelsr1rst A Hemi means it has Hemispherical heads, Think of a bowl shape combustion chamber with a spark plug smack dab in the middle. Which means the spark plug comes out ontop of the heads and valve covers. Dead give away for a Hemi. 383,413,426 (not a 426 Hemi) ,440 are Wedge motors, that means the combustion chamber is shaped more like a wedge with the spark plug coming out of the side of the heads, like most engines. Its cheaper but not as efficient.
your car is amazing !! i own myself a 1974 cuda like you... my cuda is triple black too... paint black, black interior, black plain steel wheel, black wall tire... 4 speed console delete... no stripe... lugage rack wheel opening moudling and rocker panel chrome moulding... so your car is verry nice
I agree... He wasn't very happy about that either, let me tell ya! We're hoping to get some new pics & video this weekend. Gotta show off her pretty new bubble.
nice,i just picked up a 71 cuda, thing is a basket case but looking at your car it will be worth the work im putting in. im digging the steelies and hub caps too. good look with the sale!
It's beautiful. :')

Originally it was planned to do flat black billboards but decided not to. Easier to add than remove.
