  • WHAT A WASTE OF HISTORY

  • The house that Ruth built and Steinbrenner tore down.

  • They tore down the house that Ruth Built!!! =(

  • They tore down yankee stadium because Red Sox won the world series against the Yankees, breaking the "the curse".

  • They tore it down because of course, the owners just want more money from the luxury boxes that no one really needs. Greed, greed, greed, and more greed hurts history. Why is American history so neglected in favor of greed? Keep history alive.

  • so where did the ghosts go

  • of course they take it down slowly, NYC has had enough controlled demolitions

  • 0:14 who could forget the tino martinez grand slam in game 1 of the 1998 w.s. that landed right about there.

  • They built that stadium for Babe Ruth so he could hit all those home runs. Anybody can hit a home run.

  • such history gone

  • howcome they didnt blow it up like they used to destroy stadiums

  • I think people should stop whining. Sport's facilities are like cars or machinery: they have "best used before" dates, after which they become outdated, crap, limited in comfort etc.

I have some objections to the new projection in relate to use of public money, but to get rid of an old stadium was a nice move.

  • i would expect this from the greedy bastards

now they say the astros have to move to the american league

to them our history means nothing they want to tear down the astrodome

  • On April 20, 2012, Fenway Park will be celebrating their 100 Anniversary in front of the New York Yankees. That's going to be a sight for sore eyes! ROFLMAO

  • @Jiltedin2007 yea.....where's your team this year??? Pieced together by an inept manager whom the Yankees beat in 5 games in 2000, and an even more inept GM.....yea you guya are in great shape!! Se you in October mother fucker!!! LOL

  • @rockaway25 Yeah, whatever! At least we still have our Ballpark. Where's yours? And we like Bobby Valentine in Boston, especially after what he did to the Mets. There is a Manager any team would be proud of. And our General Manager was the Assistant to Theo Epstein.

  • @Jiltedin2007 what he did to the mets?? did they ever WIN a WS with him?? And our ballpark is bigger and better than ever. NY'ers like out with the old and in with the new. I had the privilage of going to both parks and I have to tell you even though i miss the old one this one is WORLDS apart better than the old one. ohh and what team WON a WS in the first year of their new park?? Oh yea that's right....WE DID!! lol...

Boston fans just remember this..... 2 WS wins in 91 year STILL SUCKS!! ha!

  • @Jiltedin2007 and just because some one's an asst to a GM doesn't mean they know half of what the GM does......the Red SUX will fail again this year just like that monumental collapse last year!! LOL YANKEES......enough said!!

  • @rockaway25 You mean the "Red Sux" will collapse just like "The House That Ruth Built" collapsed shown on this video? And by the way, 2 World Series Championships since 2004 is plenty enough for me after seeing the Red Sox suffer since 1918.

And we're going to keep Fenway Park long, long after Yankee Stadium #10 will be taken down, or if Major League Baseball will still be existent in the 28th Century.

See you at the party on April 20th. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

  • @Jiltedin2007 Typical ignorant Red Sawx fan from Bawston....don't know any type of factual info but likes to talk shit anyway.....it's cool.....continue sounding like a dumb fuck.....it's quite Hilarious...It's ALSO quite hilarious that even though the Sux won in 04 and 07 the YANKEES were still named Sports illustrated's team of the decade!! LOL....face it.....The Yankees are a FAR superior team then the Sux will EVER be!! don't be jealous!! It's ok...Like Pedro said: "The Yankees are my daddy"

  • @rockaway25 The only one between the two of us that is talking shit is you! And the fact that you are trying to rub into my face the 27 World Series Championships the Yankees have won is totally absurd, and is just making you the Arrogant Pompous Ass that you are. I am damn proud of the 2 World Series Championships the Red Sox have won since 1918. Only you look at it like it isn't enough. Typical Yankee Fan, maybe when the Yankees win 60 World Championships you would still cry!

  • Don't worry Red Sox Fans, Fenway Park will still be standing for the next 700 years, or maybe 800. By then, Yankee Stadium #10 will be long demolished.

  • If anyone wants a piece of history, they can always come to Fenway Park!

  • tearing down a pice of history go red sox

  • and thats wat happens when u makebets with the red sox!!!!! thats right bitch whoooo

  • no explosives? boooo!

  • Good riddance stupid Yankees fans. Where are your balls? Im a red sox fan and if they tried to take down Fenway we would burn boston down

  • I hate the Yanks, sox forvever

But it makes me sad to forget how old this was

The 04 ALCS happened here, and now its gone

I never got to go here :/

  • Not only did they tear it down, they left absolutely no trace of it!! With the possible exception of Rome's Colisseum this was the world's most historic stadium and the tools that planned this new park can't leave SOMETHING? How about a small portion of the outer structure? Or atleast leave the original diamond where Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio and Mantle made history? How much would it take to leave markers where Gehrig stood or where Maris' 61st landed? Nice job guys.

  • @ed1cat1

no. Id say Madison Square Garden is more historic

  • @cwiens007 actually, we're on the 4th version of MSG.

  • Dag I grew up in that stadium..thats crazy

  • Very sad to see this go, what a historic place and it's just a shame that they tore it down to make more money and make it so its easier to hit home runs. why couldn't they use the old one for other events?

  • GREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREEDGREED

  • @ed1cat1

There was no need for a new stadium. Yankee Stadium 2 was fine.

  • i hate the yankees with a burning passion, but i still feel sad that they tore down one of the icons of nyc. its like if they tore down the statue of liberty bc it wasnt good enough

  • Was that the same stadium used in some of the NYG's NFL Championship wins before the Super Bowls started??

  • THEY SHOULD OF MADE IT INTO A MUSEUM.WHAT A SHAME IT HAD LOTS OF HISTORY EVENTHOUGH I AM NOT YANKEE FAN.

  • I am a Red Sox fan, so naturally I hate the Yankees. However, this video makes me sad. Everybody knows, whether you love the Yankees or hate them, that quite a bit of history was made at the old Stadium.

  • its like 2012 for the stadium

  • Sad and pathetic...THAT STADIUM WAS A ICON WHY DIDNT THEY JUST SLAPD SOME FLAT SCREENS HERE AND THERE UPGRADED IT KINDA LIKE WAT DEY DID TO WEAR THE ROYALS PLAY, DAM THAT'S WHERE RUTH PLAYD DAM THAT'S WHERE WADE BOGS RODE A HORSE AFTER WINNING DA WS, DAM THAT'S WHERE MY MARLINS IN 03 DANCED DA NIGHT AWAY! LOL......P.S. CUBS YOUR STADIUM IS NEXT!

  • Comment removed

  • @3zer05 that guy is right

  • what are they spraying with the big fan and the thing with the big arm? lol

  • @1zeroBlackmagiczero1 It's standard practice for large-scale demolitions like this. It is a dust suppression method typically used on very large structures.

  • I hate the Yanks, but tearing down one of the most iconic sports venues of all time? WHAT THE FUCK

  • that stadium was perfect i dont know why they wanted a new one can u please tell me if u know

  • Theres a ballpark like this..But collage..Home to the CWS. Or was,61 years of history at that ballpark...Its name...Rosenblatt Stadium..Its set to be demod soon...But we need to keep it there...As A mueam or something...Please SAVE ROSENBLATT!!!

  • i think the stadium should have been turned into a yankee/baseball museum, that would have been much better than just tearing down almost a century of memories.

  • I HATE baseball. HATE it. However, this is disgusting. Panathinaiko Stadium in athens has been around for over TWO THOUSAND YEARS. And not one Greek ever DARED tearing it down. But us Americans want INSTANT GRATIFICATION. If a stadium is over 30-40 years old (Yankee Stadium and a few others are/were exceptions), it s almost AUTOMATICALLY slated for demolition. Thumbs up if you agree with me, and post this to every YS (demolition or not) video. Let this be known to the world. Thank you.

  • People are bitching too much. New stadiums (like houses, malls or schools) come and go. What was good in 1960 is old in 2010. Tear down and build something better. It's the course of life.

  • You can't replace the memories and history of Old Yankee Standium

  • people wanted better food, better seats, a better stadium. You can get that. but you can't replace history like this. Babe Ruth, Barry Bonds,Pete Rose, Lou Gerigh, Joe Dimaggio,Ken Grif JR, and many more are people who walked through this stadium. History, may now rest and Peace.

  • There are only two old-time MLB stadiums left - Fenway Park (which will turn a century old next year) & Wrigley Field (which will turn 100 in 2014). I have a strange feeling Wrigley will be the next ballpark to go, although I sincerely hope not! What I meant was, the Cubs most likely won't be playing baseball there within the next five to tem years from now. Wrigley Field cannot be torn down because it's on the Chicago registry of historic places. I miss old Yankee Stadium. The new place is odd.

  • tear the new stadium down as well, move the Yankees to Cleveland, they need a second team.

  • One day I actually looked on the wrong side of the 4 train, because im used to the stadium on the other side. I miss that place mannnn

  • @AV4557 im not from new york..but i went there this year, and toured the new yankee stadium...but how do you look on the wrong side? aren't they both on the same side?

  • @matt17389 yeah on the same side of the track, but when you get outside 161st station its completely weird to see it across the street lol

  • its truly saddening to see the old stadium gone. as a yanks fan who hates the redsox (obviously), i have to give that team mad respect for sticking with fenway for so long and not ruining history

  • When Yankee Stadium died so did George Steinbrenner. Yankees not the same!

  • it is like "hey i found mickey mantles home run ball!"

  • The real Yankee Stadium died in 76 when they renovated it.

  • I''m grateful my Dad did'nt live to see Yankee Stadium get demolished. It would have broken his heart as much as it did mine.

  • yup, all the great ones are going....or gone....like the orange bowl.

  • uh, excuse me, you guys are tearing down the wrong ballpark.

  • I'm sorry I'm a diehard Yanks fan and I can't stand the new stadium because it just reminds me that what we used to have was better, kinda the same reason why I don't like Girardi either...

  • you mean to tell me that a fuckin piece of red tape was the only thing stopping me from taking something? It may be a crime to steal, but its a bigger crime for steiner to charge almost 2 grand for a pair of seats!

  • why do they have to demolish it just keep it up

  • Wrigley is still standing lol

  • @benw0602 Whats older you self-loving Chicago fans? FENWAY PARK 1912.

  • @tparaiso601 2 years older lol

  • i would of paid to see games there even if the place was falling down on my head, one of the most amazing places on earth wish it could've stayed

  • I wish that they wouldve rebuilt it on the same grounds. Share citi with the mets, and keep that land historic. I am a mets fan, but as a baseball fan.., that would be my route(as owner.

  • Babe Ruth would be disgusted, Gehrig, Joe D, Mantle, Heck I bet Ted Williams would be disgusted!! EVERY single Yankee is disgusted; even the ones of today. It's all just money. Filthy, rotten money...

  • I can't watch this. I, I really can't watch this. SCREW YOU WHOEVER THOUGHT OF TEARING DOWN YANKEE STADIUM YOU RUINED A TRUE PIECE OF AMERICAN HISTORY. CONGRATULATIONS LITTLE NIGA'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @GMT1221 it was the unions of New York, the whole reason why this famous stadium was demolished was to make jobs for people. I'm not a really big fan of baseball, but this was a stupid action. that stadium was I think 83 or 84 years old (I could be wrong) There was nothing wrong with the old stadium, wait a minute, New York has landmark laws! developers should think of the fans feelings about demolishing a stadium, who agrees with me?

  • @pennyf9 It was 85 years old. And they really should listen, but they're not gonna. They're just stupid. It's that simple.

  • @GMT1221 oh, 85 years (i was close) yeah, your right, those people are stupid, all they care about is money money money. Want to know something? People are saying we have a bad economy (do we still?) and theres no money, where did corperate of america get 1.5 billion to build a new stadium? our tax dollars! What do you think of that?

  • @pennyf9 With taxes, they take money from us for themselves. I know you know that, but they already have trillions of $'s, why do they need more? And you know what I think? I think the government, the economy, all this political stuff should be GONE AND OUT OF THE WAY!!! How's that for an idea?

  • @GMT1221 I totally agree!

  • why couldn't they just keep the old ballparks and let minor league teams play there or turn a part of it into a museum?

  • even though i hate the yankees just the same as i do communists, i am saddened to see such a memorable ball park get torn down. i have a lot of family history there. my great grandpa went there the day after he became an american citizen and never missed a home game.

  • @chillaxer1993 why was it actually demolish??? what was the reason

  • I am sickened by this....and I'm a Red Sox fan. Another historic ballpark destroyed.

  • Yankee Stadium should have been kept.

There are too many historic moments there to let it go.

It is a shame that money means more than history.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • WHY???? This should have never happend... it's all freaking money.

It says so much about our country, it doesn't value it's history. Yankee Stadium should had been restored, not destroyed. It's a shame.

Same thing goes for the Old Cominskey Park in Chicago, there was somthing special about the park. The new one lacks personality...

Now, try to demolish Fenway Park, or Wrigley Field... that would be the real end...

  • u have no heart

  • they tore this historic building down because the fair weather fans of today want a skybox with a sushi bar, art gallery, wine tasting party. Screw the Steinbrenner's for tearing down an American Icon

  • @tigersruhl84 i agree. the old stadium was perfectly fine...

you might as well demolish the white house and build it across the street.

And as a person who live just about 10 blocks away from the stadium it broke my heart to walk past and see more parts of it missing everyday

  • @tigersruhl84 true that . . . baseball is meant to be in the bleachers with beer/peanuts/hot dogs/sodas/chants . . . . box seats I can rationalize, but sushi bars in baseball? NO!

  • @tigersruhl84 Disagree man....modern fans don't want to pay top dollar to have an obstructed view of right or left field when you sit in the upper decl!! Modern fans also want wider concourses. This coming from someone who went to the old stadium for 25 yrs

  • @tigersruhl84 New stadiums are always better. I like new things

  • @tigersruhl84 Same reason they tore down Tigers Stadium .. Corporate boxes.. all about money...so sad.

  • @tigersruhl84 Just disgusting they could have just made improvments easily like Kauffman stadium or the least made it a national park , foolish greedy steinbrenners rewining the yankees

  • I'm sorry, they should have turned the old Yankee's stadium into a museum or something because there was too much history with that stadium and should have never been demolished.

  • New Yankee Stadium demolition photo book now available at Amazon.com

Going! Going! Gone! Images of the Demolition of Yankee Stadium.

  • these fools just destroy our dreams & memory's

  • IMO the Yanks should have played one more exhibition game @ the old Stadium before it went down, cuz the yanks kept it as a backup just in case the new stadium wasnt ready

  • So sad to watch that video

  • I had never even been to Yankee Stadium, but it makes me sad too...I can only imagine how the fans that had been there 100's of times felt. Sad!

  • What a shame.

  • I don't know why everyone is so sad, this is not the original Yankee Stadium. The original has been long gone since 1973. This was Yankee Stadium II that opened in 1976, in the original location, but it's not the original stadium. They ruined it anyway, The new one across the street looks much better. All the good luck was lost when they dropped the ALCS to Boston in 04 after being up 3 games to nothing. See they won a championship with the new Stadium. :)

  • My God. How chilling. Looking at this, the seats where fans, where I, once screamed and cheered, booed, laughed, and cried; where dreams were made, or crushed into the dirt. Where legends were made. And now, looking at this, this great stadium destroyed, I am sad in a way, but so very happy that everyone had so many memories with their beloved Yankees. God bless all of those who gave their all, and shed blood, sweat and tears to bring pride to this amazing field of sport! Go Yankees!

  • I started going to Yankee Stadium in April,1963.

I could have accepted a new stadium if was built around the original field. After all,it's the playing field where all the baseball history was made. But the Yankee management wouldn't even consider playing one season at the brand new CitiField to save the field at Yankee Stadium. So for me Yankee Stadium is gone. There is no Yankee Stadium.

Now we have Steinbrenner Stadium instead.

I'll never set foot in the joint................

  • all you idiots saying " oh this stadium got torn down too boo hoo" the old yankee stadium had no reason to be to torn down it has to many memories and great players played in that park all those other staduims dont mean shit compared to yankee stadium!

  • What is that stuff that they are spraying all over it? Water?

  • I really don't understand why they had to tear it down and build a new stadium. It could have at least been designated & preserved as a National Historic Landmark. Because that's what it was- the House that Ruth Built. Fenway & Wrigley still stand and are still in use. You would think Yankee stadium would get the same respect. Could someone explain to me why this happened?I really don't get it.

  • @gatorcarter Because it's not the Original Stadium that opened in 1923. This is Yankee Stadium II that opened in 1976.

  • @louthebody Yankee Sadium that went through extended renovations between 1973-76 is the same Yankee Stadium- House That Ruth Built. I've never even been there, but even I know that.

  • @gatorcarter It's not the original, It's the original location but not the original Stadium. There was nothing left of the 1923 stadium except for maybe the first level of stands behind home plate.

  • @louthebody

It is the original. The upper deck, mezz, and field levels, the concrete exterior, steel structure, etc are all original. Yes, some things were removed( steel columns, some of Gate 4 and 6 to add the pods, the big roof, and frieze), but the 2008 Yankee Stadium was the original structure. You must not realize what exactly was done in the renovation or you are being fooled by what the Yankees told you( as they did sell the renovated Yankee Stadium as a new stadium back in the 70's).

  • @louthebody

I also advise you to look up the video, " Yankee Stadium Renovation 1974-1975" on youtube. It shows exactly what was done to the stadium.

  • @quagmire2 I watched the video this video was made after a lot of the work was done, but you cant remove the colums unless you remove the two decks taht were on top of them. If you can find a copy of the 1973 or 74 Yankee year book they have pics of the demolition that took place before they started to rebuild. They left only the first level and took every thing else out, I got the year books, I have to find them I haven't looked at them in over twenty years. Anyway Go Yankees!

  • @louthebody

They cantilevered the mezz and upper decks. They then extended the upper deck to help with the weight balance. Then tension cables were added to keep the upper deck from leaning too forward when loaded with fans.

The steel columns were simply cut away. So remnants of the columns remained in the renovated stadium. You could see stubs in the mezz and if you have seen photo's of the upper deck removal during the demo, you can see the remains of the steel columns there as well.

  • @quagmire2 You seem to know what your talking about, however from the pics I saw in the Yankee yearbook, it had to be 74 beacuse they played the 73 season at Yankee Stadium, it looks like most of the original structure was torn down. Also like you feel now, I was disgusted by what they did to the Stadium back in 1976 when it opened. That's why I like the new one better. I have to find that Yankee Yearbook, it's in such a safe place that I forgot where I stored it. LOL.

  • @louthebody

Also, I wish youtube would allow links because you can find photo's of the stadium under renovation. There is one photo of the renovation with the extension of the upper deck done and the moving up of the portals, etc and the steel columns are still there.

  • they may have destroyed more of america than Al Qaeda with this

  • 87 years and countless memories (For Yankees fans anyway, I'm a Sox fan DONT KILL ME) being smashed by a wrecking ball.

  • And i almost started to cry thinking of all the ball pleyers and celeberties like JFK Hendrix and Presley. I knew that was going to be the first time i would see Old Yankee stadium and it was going to be the last. As i left i was thinking and the rest will be history.

  • The old yankee stadium had the most history behind out of any stadium in the world. I was fortunate to be there last April i was in New York with my law class. And i was very lucky to go in there. I almost came to tears i stood exactly where Lou Gehrig stood where he announced his retirement and then stood at home plate and looked around the ball park thinking of all the ball player that stood on that spot Ruth to Gehrig from Reggie Jakson to Jeter and the list went on and on.

  • . I hate watching any stadium being torn down even the kingdome. My heart goes out to all you Yankee fans!

  • The house that Ruth built... should stand forever

  • gonna miss that staiduim

  • im a phils fan, but this is sad.

  • All of the new parks are bland. No character. The new Busch in St. Louis really shows how plain and bland the new cookie cutter parks have become. All these cities will wish they would have kept these parks in 10 years when the new wears off. The new Yankees, Oriole Park and The Ballpark in Arlington really did a great job, but where is the history?

  • @colbymercury "all the new parks are bland" - that's not true. The cookie cutter parks were built in the '70s, most of which have been torn down.

  • @gatorcarter You really don't get it. What i was meaning is that all the new parks are built cookie cutter as in all the same as in no character. There is only 5 or so alright parks out of the new bunch. Te ballpark in arlington, The new Yankee, Camden, Coors and that is about it. The new one in St. Louis is bland as they get. KC remodeled their park a few years ago and it is better than some of the new ones. St. Louis could have done the same.

  • @colbymercury Well what about CitiField, Safeco, MinuteMaid, the new Pirates ballpark? Those are beautiful & unique IMO. Not here to argue just stating my opinion. "Cookie cutter" was the term used to describe the really bland parks built in the '60s-70s. Riverfront stadium, Memorial Stadium, Shea, Kingdome etc.

  • @gatorcarter Actually the phrase 'cookie cutter" is also used to describe bland things that all look the same in design, ask anyone. And that is the way all they new parks have become. Ask anyone like myself that has seen them all.

  • this brings tears to my eyes to see this go! all the greats, the most famouse players in base ball history walked these halls, played there, and now its all gone this was the worst thing they ever did. i am a big yankee fan and i been to many games ! i was just at one today and it kills me to see this!

  • as a red sox fan part of me loves watchin this video, but to the same aspect it is a sad thing knowin all the greats that walked those halls...old yankee stadium, wrigley, and fenway should be allowesd to stay up as historical landmarks...man law

  • why why why

  • it's wrong to bring down anything with the amount of history that occured in it like yankee stadium. im an A's fan and I still believe this was wrong. sorry yankee fans

  • Local 79

  • if i was one of the workers for that demolition compay i might quit my job. im an A's fan and it almost brings me to tears to even think that, that amazing place is now gone. RIP

  • wow who would do something like that. im an A's fan and it almost brings me to tears to watch that stadium go down. RIP

  • im a angels fan but its kinda sad to see this stadium fall

  • i remember when i was younger i used to love going to yankee stadium now my parents dont bring me there anymore its sucks when im on the highway every friday i always see the little bit of yankee stadium left to demolish :(

  • as a sox fan. it was kinda sad to see yankee stadium fall. the new one isn't as nice as the old one ( no history in the new one) u can't destroy history!

  • To this day, I will say that there was no reason to build a new stadium. It was all for the $. Why do I say that? SIMPLY STATED I CAN SIT IN THE OLD STADIUM AND ENJOY THE GAME SURROUNDED BY HISTORY, get that NOSTALGIC FEELING that can bring me to happy tears, LIKE I AM HOME...NOT TO MENTION THAT MY DAD WATCHED "THE BABE" PLAY THERE. Sad! There should be some for of guilt for doing this...especially when individual seats taken away. We've had to endure looking at the "skjyline change" 2001.

  • they shouldve just preserved the old stadium and maybe turned into something like a museum. the stadium had alot of history in there. sad to see it go. :(

  • they just tour down a cathedral. probably the most famous baseball stadium ever. it's a shame what people will do for money tare the park that has all of the 26 world series

  • Day is done Gone the Sun from the lake from the hills from the sky. All is well safely rest god is nigh

  • So much history in that stadium, and just like that it's gone.

  • good bye my fryends

  • 1 may 10

  • The renevation in 1974 was the begining of the end for the old Yankee Stadium. The New Yankee Stadiun has the old time feeling the old one used to have.

  • Damn this sucks! I have seen many Yankee games here since the early 90s, (Yeah I'm a Phillies fan, but always loved seeing a game at original Yankee Stadium, it was simply a great place. Sad!)

  • right now only 3 old ballparks are still up yankee stadium, fenway park, wrigly field

the final piece of yankee stadium falls tommorow 4/14/10 by tommorow 2 old ballparks will still be standing

    RIP Yankee Stadium 1923-2010

  • @victorEL3MEN2 The oldest parks are staying.

  • this whole experience hurts a lot more than I expected it to. Id rather they had done an implosion instead of this day by day deathwatch nonsense. Just get it over with already

  • detroit sucks

  • Its so sad to see this stadium go down.

  • SO SAD.......Thanks for posting though.

  • got more

  • got more

  • DIE YANKEE STADIUM

  • That Sucks.

I'm from Detroit, and We had to watch Tiger Stadium go down last year. Babe Ruth hit his 700th HR at Tiger Stadium.

It's sad to see the classic parks going down, the new parks are nice, but too many memories.

It's like watching the house you grew up in on fire.

  • we completely know what you feel like man. i know tiger stadium meant ALOT to the tiger fans and watching that last game at yankee stadium almost brought tears to my eyes...some of the greatest times of my life there

  • i never thought i would see this day. i loved this stadium so much. so much history and now it's gone. now we're at a stadium filled with technology and shit and horrible surround sound. i'm going to miss the smell, sound and watching the train go by in the back during every pitch. RIP Yankee Stadium (A True Stadium)

  • DIE YANKEE STADIUM, DIE!!!

  • brings a tear to your eye! RIP Old Girl!

  • At this pace nothing will be left by Opening Day. I'm a Mets fan, but loved the old old Yankee Stadium that existed prior to their last game on September 30, 1973.

  • Can you imagine if they would've purposely ripped down the Roman Colliseum or Chichen Itza in Mexico after they served their purpose. Imagine the history that wouldve never been told centuries even millenia later. Why are we ripping down the flagship stadium of our era which catered to our flagship American passtime which happens to be in the most famous city of our times? From a historical point of view... simply Pitiful.

  • what are you talking about? The coliseum WAS ripped down. It was used as a quarry for centuries after it fell into disuse. What's left are just the remains.
