  • That part reminds me of "$1,000,000 Chance of a Lifetime" where the couple answered all 5 clues, they won a million dollars.

  • It's cool that she's the highest-winning woman in game show history, but it's too bad she won on an answer she didn't know. She just got lucky.

  • a $1,635,000 mistake.

  • DO YOU HAVE THE ENTIRE SEASON 1?

If so, can you please post it?

  • Ouch...that was one expensive brain fart, forgetting that oil floats on water....

  • what's with the chips

  • @hijackdrc To reply to your 5 month old question, the players have 10 chips: they lose the chips that are on wrong answers and keep the chips on right answers. If they don't put a chip on the right answer, they lose the duel. She covered all four answers so there was no way she could get the question wrong, but he left one open in an effort to save a chip for later. He was wrong. She won by not knowing the answer, and more importantly, admitting it.

  • awesome!! i loved this fuckin ass show but it stopped airing:( maybe it'll come back someday. o, & ashley is SEXY!

  • its definatly not water...it could be water...oh it is water, well goodbye $1.7 million

  • just show how stupid ppl are

  • I even watched this when I was on vacation!

  • Oops! I must've did the math wrong!

  • You would think a ***CAR SALESMAN*** would know that oil *floats* on water, so that would mean that oil is lighter than water.

    Very *easy* question.

Either chalk it up to him being nervous or just being an idiot.

  • WE HAVE A WINNER! THE REGISTERED NURSE HAS WON ALMOST $1.7 MILLION!!

  • @monahanpt You mean OVER $1.7 MILLION!

  • This was so inspirational! But poor Robert-he lost more money then Ken Basin.

  • I really enjoyed "Duel", I wish that ABC would bring it back.

  • would you like some epic with that fail

  • that dumb whore didnt deserve to win!

  • Excuse me, fellow YT's, I have the answers to this question, once and for all. According to WikiAnswers, here is what I have found: Gallon of Water: 8.35 lbs.; Gallon of Crude Oil: 7 lbs.; and Gallon of Vegetable Oil: 7.6 lbs. So, I hope this helps everyone who is wondering the answer to this question.

  • @ORwu thanks i have been trying to fing the answer but i never could

  • Comment removed

  • gallon is about volume not weight. and if oil floats ontop of water then it weighs less that is simple!

  • "yes douchebag you leave here with not even 100,000 dollars because your mind is so countryfied....but the girl gets almost 2 mil..have a fun month with that 55,000 because the nurse is rich for life!!!!"

  • Just like AlphaTheMan said IT'S AGALLON!!!!!!! It doesn't matter of what, it still is a fucking gallon! And it was not about which of those substances is thicker or more dense than the other, it's about the weight. Jesus!!

  • @richardhalo AlphaTheMan is wrong as a Gallon is VOLUME and not WEIGHT. Think about it.

  • thank you thats what i was trying to explain to @motleyhar the guy lost the duel and only left with 100,000 almost compared to the nurses 2 mil winnings...my comment was basically just me paraphrasing as if i was the host thinking mentally! lol

  • At 1st was a little bit of mind blowing, but now I get it right. Thanks.

  • Woah, woah, what?

If all of them are a gallon, then they HAVE to weigh the same.

Like what weighs more, a pound of bricks or a pound of feathers.

  • But a gallon has no dependence on weight. Pounds are for weight, gallons are for how much. Water is denser than oil, hence the reason oil floats on top of it.

  • exactly the quanity of bricks compared to feathers might be different but the weight is what needs to be the same....same as this question

  • @luckyc120 Who are you agreeing with? I am having a difficult time understanding. They are asking what weighs more, they give no weight, just volume. There is a huge difference. HUGE. So I ask you, again, who are you agreeing with as if you're agreeing with AlphaTheMan then you're sadly and ridiculously wrong.

  • But a pound of feathers will take up considerably more space than a pound of bricks.

If you were to take 2 drums with a capacity of 1 gallon, stacked normal bricks into 1 and in the other, stacked bricks of jelly (or whatever you Americans call gelatin desserts) so both had the same amount of bricks of the same size, which will WEIGH more? The gallon of bricks, because brick WEIGHS more than jelly. The gallon is just a measurement of how much.

All the question is asking is, 'Which is heavier?'

  • still love watching this! a win is a win, and i'm glad that she won. if only more videos of Deul were posted!

  • Wow. That was one short duel. He should've covered all of his answers.

  • Ugh you truely are ignorant...

Okay, and what happens 3 questions into the game, when, according to your ideology, you have 2 chips left...?

  • Hmm.... Kinda sad that it's taken me a few months to realise that with that comment I made earlier, I sounded like a real moron...

Thanks for helping me with that. Let it be a lesson to me for opening my mouth before thinking.

  • wow i feel bad for that guy thats a shitty way to lose

  • Na na na na.... na na na na.... hey hey, we stole this song!

  • The difference between knowing you don't know the answer to a question and not knowing you don't know the answer to a question is over $1 million...jeez. Easy question too - of course oil floats on water because it's lighter, idiot!

  • Oil doesn't float on water because it is lighter, it floats because it is less dense. Idiot!

  • Density is measured in kg/m³ meaning....kilograms per cubic meter...you know, kilograms as in MASS. Oil floats on water because the density is lower, ergo less MASS per VOLUME, meaning it is LIGHTER. Idiot.

  • Mass isn't weight, idiot. And weight has nothing to do with floating. You could float a pound of oil on a pound of water or you could float a ton of oil on a pound of water because it is still less DENSE. Idiot.

  • Mass is weight...

massxgravity=weight. Since all three are on earth, gravity is equal and excusable...

  • I bet you not every 1 knows that though...

  • omg i learned this from Hi - 5 when I was like 6

  • i miss duel, i think the 2nd season was better, and i just miss the show, it was great :(

  • I'll be honest, the UK version seems more tense, and that seems to suit this show.

  • they were both idiots....i have known that answer since 4 grade

  • Weight and volume do not correspond equally across all liquid.

Think about a cubic foot of marble versus a cubic foot of sponge. It's the same volume, but the marble weighs a lot more.

  • a gallon is a measurment of volume, not mass

  • i dont feel good for the girl, i just feel terrible for the guy. i think i wouldve done the same thing.

  • Is she the biggest female game show winner?

  • I think so...

  • There's no crying on game shows, unless you win BIG!!!!!

  • I really enjoyed this game. It's too bad they monkeyed with the format to make it a weekly show. It would have been better keeping the original format and having it as an off-season replacement series, as they originally did with U.S. Millionaire.

  • I miss this show

  • When I was playing along at home with my mom, I said "lay chips on A and B." She kind of looked at me. "Well, remember science class? Vegetable oil floating on water? So it can't be C or D. I don't know about crude oil, though."

This would've been a great show to play. Too bad the weekly format didn't work out.

  • anyone with a clue should know that they can't be weighing the same, both are idiots.

  • Indeed, how many times mom tell kids "DO NOT TRY TO EXTINGUISH A FIRE PAN WITH WATER!". :-)

  • Why do you think oil floats on water? Did you not learn in 7th grade the Laws of Density in science? Less dense things float on top of more dense objects. It's just science, no fixing.

  • ice floats on water.

ice is more dense then water..

  • No. Ice is less dense than water. Because it floats on water.

  • ohh yeah thats what i meant ^^

H-bridges between the molecules and all make it less in density even though the temperature is getting lower... My bad ^^ english is difficult huuh =*(

  • Hahahahahaaa... OMG! hahahaaaa.

  • registered nurse? she probably makes 3 million bucks a day. used car guy shouldve won.

  • anyone who finished school should know the answere straight away... or is it just schools in russia r better??? and there is no such thing as "Crude" oil... its a stupid game.

  • crude oil is basically petroleum. We're falling behind in math and science but the government wants schools to focus on language. go figure.

  • right, that's what i'm saying. we NEED to start catching up with other countries in math and science. but the government says different.

  • i would have just offered to split it

  • guy shoulda won he needs it more..

Doctor> a dude who sells cars..

  • what a stupid game show where you can be a stupid ass and just guess all the answers.

  • I felt bad for Robert when he lost it there.

  • Lookup Extra Heavy Crude oil, There is no such thing as just "Plain" Crude oil it comes in many forms

  • Does no one know what DENSITY means??

The obvious wrong answer was "they all weigh the same"

  • I saw this 1st version of Duel, and sorta liked it...however I skipped the 2nd one, since they changed some of the rules and also had the jackpot at a fixed 500K and not let it increase steadily throughout the gameplay.

  • Word dude. They gutted the living hell out of Duel when they brought it back.

I don't understand why people thought Duel was so complicated.

  • Because many people are too lazy to try to "think", I guess. That's why such "mindless" shows as a lot of the "reality" shows are so popular, and though I like "Deal or no Deal", it's quite the opposite of "Duel" in that hardly any real brainpower is involved in playing lol. Any wonder why DOND does so well in the ratings? And Duel had to be retooled the 2nd time around?

  • That was probably the least enthusiastic way you could possibly win 1,795,000 dollars....

  • Lol at how he bumped up the prize money...

    "MORE than 1.7 million dollars"

Yet it wasn't even at 1.7 yet.

  • Yes, BUT with the personal banks, the jackpot would necessarily overtake $1.7 million, even before the beginning of the Final Duel.

  • Oh ok.

  • In France, the gameshow I see isn't so good. I really prefer the US one. More tension, a better set, a better music...

In such a situation, when you play for more than $1,700,000, the pressure ("What is my opponent doing? Is he going to Press me?"..) can make you mistaking. In this game, you have to be sure. But we can't blame Robert for following what he thought. But the two opponents were great! Too bad it wasn't longer...

Can somebody give me a link to download all the soundtrack of Duel?

  • US really had higher ratings than France did. 15% of the population-- that's not good for France! Russia's opinion-same music as US, same tension as US, set is very similar to US version. Australia-fail. France-same set as US, sounds are tiny bit different. (partial fail) In a situation when people play for jackpots, the contestants will get pressed.

  • What a tense moment of television there. I've always been taught that water is heavier than oil & it's common sense to remember that from science class. Ashlee & Robert were amazing players & I expected the duel to be longer but that's the nature of the game. Robert wasan't dumb he just second guessed himself; seen that done many times. I know it's hurts Robert but you took the loss like a man. Congradulations Ashlee you deserved it. That was an excitng moment worthy of 5 stars.

  • This was the highest rated game show question moment ever in 2007.

  • i wish duel could be a pc game.

  • It may be possible that a PC game may be produced by Atari based on the show as a 689 megabyte game with Atari 3d graphics. The game would be rated T for gambling and suggestive themes. This will help the show get renewed for a third season.

  • Wow...that was glorious

  • water is like the heaviest liquid? yea..thanks for playing

  • Robert said that water is not the heaviest liquid and oil is heavier than water. And he says that they don't weigh all the same. Robert was wrong on this question. I was happy when Ashlee got the correct answer.

  • I remember watching this... I felt so sorry for that dude.

  • I completely missed it to really see what was going on.

  • i was watching this show when this happened. personally, i was rooting for Robert because everyone though he was dumb bc he was redneck-ish. i was so mad when he lost. i even thought is was one of the oils bc i though water floated on oil (you can blame my science teacher)

  • Best gameshow. Why? A host that gets it straight... gameshow women at their best (going the most irrational, unnecessary jobs)... contestants matching strategy, wit, and luck... and the results come up immediately!

    Yeah!!

  • that guy IS SO STUPID OMG

  • "YOU HAVE BEEN PRESSED YOU HAVE 7...SECONDS...MAX!!" mike greenberg is the true gameshow host

  • dam a RN wins shes already rich and wow he didnt think did he lol

  • what an idiot, of course it was water.

  • Well, that's what pressure and $1,700,000 can do to mind...

  • what a ridiculously ambiguous question. what about temperature because that's pretty important. I'd hate to split hairs but... actually for 1.7 mil i'd be pretty surgical on em.

  • WOO! Duel is gonna come back on April 4! YEAH!

  • I want this show back for another season! It has to!

  • they aint made of money, lol :P

  • I wish they would of explained why that was the right answer (what's the weight of each).

  • Well if oil "floats" on water, it has to be less dense. And density = mass / volume, and if the volumn is constant the mass of oil must be less than that of the water.

  • im only 13 years old and chose water. vegatable oil isnt as heavy and oil and dense like you said. making it lighter. and that guy is an IDIOT! if i ddnt know

then i would have chosen all of them

  • I would have placed my chips on A and B, since I knew that vegetable oil floats on oil, so C and D had to be wrong.

However...I can't believe that I didn't think of the fact that crude oil also floats on water!

  • I wish this show would come back on the air

  • I don't think it would happen. Poor ratings, confusing format, ran against 1st run dramas, and other reality shows, may partly to blame for this demise.

  • Honestly I don't think the format is confusing, it's just a very challenging game that is awesome.

  • And if it made Millionaire a hit,it can do the same for Duel.

  • this game is coming back. just saw the commercial and i'd never heard of the show so i youtubed it.

  • It's back on the air tonight.

  • well it looks like you were wrong

  • Probably the first time someone won over a million bucks without actually knowing the answer.

  • is it just me, or did ABC rip off "na na hey hey kiss him goodbye"?

  • You go girl!!! WHOO!!!!

  • i was so happy she won! but i didnt really care who won 1,795,000 thats alot! lol i knew it from the start =) i thought the same thing the man did oil floats on water

  • After watching this again, I didn't realize the used car salesman actually said "oil floats on water." He knew it after he had already locked in. Wow. Just wow. The really stupid part is that the nurse didn't know the answer at all, and she wins.

  • I'm sorry, but I felt that question was extremely easy if you thought about it. Now, if I was pressed, I wouldn't have had a clue in 7 seconds... However, they were all in gallons, thus it's the same amount of volume for each. Therefore, you can compare their densities. Both crude oil and vegetable oil float on water. Thus, water is the heaviest.

  • my dad and all my brothers work with cars, 1 of them a used cars salesman at gogel and my mom is a registered nurse so i was happy with either one winning.

  • to bad the guy knew the answer

    what an idiot

  • It wasn't a hard question, considering oil floats on water eh.

  • wow, incredible total

  • You go girl....

  • That is an inensitive thing to say. Please retract!

  • Don't bother. I saw the game, and I was happy that Minnesota lost that game... of course Washington didn't go far, so it doesn't really matter.

  • anymore like this, comments will be disabled.

  • What do you mean?

  • Yeah, people need to watch it with the comments.

  • I'm guessing she's a Florida Gator. :)
