  • you dont loosen your grip.. you clearly have never played a decent drop shot in your life. Stop being an insult to real tennis players and learn something

  • Yeah, this guy doesn't know what he is talking about. I'm sorry but you're wrong expertvillage. The drop shot isn't a big scoop of ice cream like you did. You ended up putting a lot of spin on the ball and it went up so high that it looked like a lob. The opponent can easily get to the ball, therefore consequentially making the drop shot a fail shot, and a loser shot. You must have great touch like Federer has. Look at Federers' drop shot in slow motion, it's completely different than this.

  • I got a D grade when i tried explaining this in my Assignment...Guess the icecream didn't work =(

  • Yeah! Völkl raquet!

  • the BH dropshot from the baseline is super easy, its not really that tricky just take your opponents topspin and hit it back slicing it the ball just doubles the backspin and pretty much floats and drops over the cord (atleast thats what it does for me)

  • I didn't realize players use the continental grip for groundstrokes. I thought Eastern and western and their variations were used.

  • @NolittleE No you are right! Eastern, semi western grips etc are used. You'll see Rafa hitting withthe extreme western grip when he's hitting the topspin forehand, the western helps add loads more spin when you hit up on the back of the ball, this makes his shots more consistent, allowing him to grind down opponents in rallies. But if you look at Federer you'll see he uses the continental grip since he's a more aggressive player and wants to hit flatter shots! Hope that helps =)

  • WRONGGGGG

  • 1:20.... that was a good lob :)

  • i think backhand dropshot is easier as forehand dropshot

  • @theaceman888 3rd at sectionals last year, yeah i dont even know what tennis is. and any non-overweight player can move to the net in seconds. my point was I was making fun of his wording, not suggesting i dont know the difference between the baseline and net. this video isnt very good, and if im a dickhead for thinking that then im sorry il try to pretend i got something out of this.

  • Ok, even though this guy is a "pro" teacher, I think I could still beat him. . .

  • @banditjr770 teaching pros are not pro tennis players. They are pro at teaching =]

  • @MrTennisMenace yes, but they are still ranked. oh well, I just said it to sort of be funny because this guy kinda looked like a fagot

  • LOL look how high his "drop shot" floats =A=

  • well what if im at the baseline.... and i decide i want to hit it from the net... what the fuck am i supposed to do then??? haha this video sucks

  • scoop the icecream......... FUCKOFF!!

  • I like the part where he didn't demonstrate or show shit.

  • Ur also a certified dipshit

  • this is a joke if you hit it from the baseline like he does, any good player will be all over that ball in a second

  • this is a joke

  • Wanna learn how to hit a drop shot I suggest looking at Federer. his technique and the way he hides the drop shot is really awesome

  • this guys a joke..

  • zero shiki is impossible, its better to work on sanada's forest. absorb all of the force of a ball and turn it into a drop shot

  • shut up

  • Obviously ALL of us only watched this video to be like Tezuka!!! :D

  • prince of tennis pride!~X]

  • I play tennis in high school because of Prince of Tennis anime. I'm serious

  • @WarenaiSai nice to hear that

  • i guess everyone started watching this cuz of prince of tennis

  • i learned this shot today :) and i played tennis for a week now :D and yes its cause of prince of tennis >.>

  • @DragonUpload The anime?, LOL i saw that ages ago around 2006

  • This is terrible.

  • I don't know what's the worser explanation and demonstration of the drop shot. You guys should check out the other "expert village" drop shot video, at /watch?v=jcCvNhaF6dI

    It's pretty funny

  • i believe a drop shot at the net is called a "drop volley" . expertvillage thanks, but u just lots a lot of credibility. just saying

  • 1:51 yes you are tennis pro no argument

  • Does expert village go out of their way to make videos that are as uninformative as possible? Scooping ice cream? Seriously? That shot from the baseline looked more like a lob than a drop.

  • very bad^^ many technical faults^^

  • NERD

  • Wow. This guy sucks. Even a complete noob would see his drop shot coming and rush the net for a return volley.

  • @Naruto0519 When I went to your profile to see the videos of you hitting better drop-shots, all I saw was a little fat Chinese boy singing on webcam. Can you please tell me where you uploaded a video of you being awesome?

  • @LaDeeDaDeDaDeDa Rofl. So me not having a video of me playing tennis means I'm not awesome? I don't see any videos of you hitting drop shots either.

However, I suppose 3 year old videos and 2 month old comments are things to look at and screw around with.

Besides, when did I ever say I was awesome? I said "Even a complete noob". Guess what? I'm a complete noob at tennis.

  • This things is crap :)

  • Sorry but the baseline "drop shot", isn't that a drop volley?

  • @AznShadowLuk No, a volley is a shot hit before the ball bounces. So a drop volley is just a drop shot hit before the ball bounces.

  • cool thanks Lincoln

  • this video is a fucking shit . bad coach mother fucker ugly

  • hey its james ninh not james minh and hes on my school tennis team! number 1 :D

  • does the guy hitting the volley say "bitch" at 0:53 ? for those experts in lip reading

  • @TestYear no. i believe he says "hows that?"

  • still.. hard to tell.. lol, im joking! thanks :)

  • @TestYear

    LOL

    i think so!

but im not an expert at lip reading

  • BAKLA! ahaha :)

  • paki mo!!!

  • ahah ung nagsasalita..ang lamya :))

  • you can hit a good drop shot if u fake a powerful shot or a lob (in some situations) and at the last second put the power into the spin.

  • So no mustard on the hotdog on this one?

  • Thanks much.

He is a pro teaching for beginner.

It's not fare if someone criticized his instructions just because they want to show off themselves.

  • If i see him take his racquet back like that from the baseline, I know he's gonna hit a dropshot, I simply come on and hit a winner out of it.

If you want to use the dropshot succesfully you gotta camouflage it, pretend like you're gonna hit anordinary forehand or backhand and then quickly change grip and hit the dropper

  • spot on

  • lolyou know demonstrations are different than real game situations.

  • Hey guys! Lets scoop some icecream! :)

  • ball

  • i only know backhand drop shot, idk y but it's much easier. lol

  • thats not how ur really suppose to hit a drop shot..

  • Ugh... It's confusing the way he explains it... Not that I could ever hit a drop shot anyway... (Unless it's by pure luck)

  • no, it's all about skills

  • hey dickhead.

it is ugly, but is sure is effective.

    He is my Tennis coach.

I live in Pflugerville and am about 15 minutes away from Austin.

  • stfu

  • he's pretty fluent in his speech so it's likely that he's a real pro. if you talk about something you don't really know, you won't be able to do so well. unless if you're from hollywood.

  • @Rob0cop or u know if u have a decent amount of intelect and think before u speak which so many dont

  • nice shirt ;)

  • i'd do a top spin from base line

  • i think drop shot from baseline is useless

  • it can be used after a big topspin which your oponnent can only hit far behind the baseline.

It can also be used against players who are really weak at volley.

  • this is how old woman hit drop shots.... lmao

  • he did all these videos in one day...

  • no he didnt. a couple of the vids the courts are wet

  • No He UPLOADED them on 1 day xD

None of us would know if he did em all on one day.

  • there's no demo??? may be he can't do it though

  • very informative. is teh techniques taht same for teh backhand drop?

  • lol.

  • maybe a typo?

  • dumb ass alot of ppl type with out looking at the screen thats why the letters may get mixed becuse one of his fingers if faster than the other stopign being a douch ass hole

  • thanks this is great because I have a match about...hmmm..next monday and it's Friday, tomorrow I'm hitting the courts to practice this.

  • can't wait ti start playing tennis ^__^ been watching too much prince of tennis.. ehehehehe my fav shot through out the whole PoT anime is Tezuka's Zero Shiki Drop Shot xD

  • XD

That's why I'm getting back into tennis too!

  • yeahh haha thats why i started and now im #3 in my school. it takes ALOT of practice but once you become consistant its really fun. it took me about a year of playing everyday 3-5 hours a day to get where i am now! (btw alot of the prince of tennis stuff isn't really possible lol)

  • prob all of it except dunk smash and twist serve

  • actually a lot of theorys went into the show prince of tennis and a lot of the stuff is possibly it's just no where near as flashy

  • same here

  • @xXKuroiHoshiXx

i kno rite i started to want to play tennis cuz of

    prince of tennis

i took alittle lessons n its super fun so

    i totally recomend it

  • @xXKuroiHoshiXx lol, i started because of watching prince of tennis too...

  • @xXKuroiHoshiXx i can do that move it doesnt roll back but it bounces back ^^

  • Lmao i so know what you mean, but ive been playing tennis for two whole years so you cant beat me XD

  • @xXKuroiHoshiXx i know right prince of tennis started this all and tezuka's drop shot is like a double egded sword poor guy

  • @xXKuroiHoshiXx love prince of tennis i love ryoma's cool drive it matchs tezuka's zero shiki

  • @xXKuroiHoshiXx Hahaha, zooming through comments, see "prince of tennis" reads comment...

haha I'm addicted to that show and thats what got me into tennis as well

  • @xXKuroiHoshiXx I'm a fan of swallow return myself. My dad used to hit a shot just like it when he was in high school. Really want to learn it myself but man is it hard.

  • @xXKuroiHoshiXx lol we are so alike lol lol lol

  • first of all, the first one with almost letting go of your grip and drop your wrist. imagine trying to hold your racket when some one is driving a hard ball at you, 2 things will happen. 1 you lose your racket, 2 you break your wrist. regardless of where you are, the most important thing is touch! All you have to do is go at an angle from high to low and caress the ball. It's hard to do it the first time, need a lot of practice.

  • I just wish my town had tennis courts... or an inside place to practice during winters lol

  • what the hell dude dont tell the people too scoop under the ball thats like putting the ball up in there strike zone to hit a winner do everything he says except scoop under it. if you try what he said for a drop shot at baseline and your beggining tennis it will not work

  • lol that doesnt even look like a drop volley. most vollies are what he just showed you kind of just punch at the ball but just barley to hit a volley. hitting a drop volley its like hitting a drop shot retartd

  • I like the instruction for almost letting go of the grip to absorb the power, ill try it out and get back to ya.

  • that looks terrible, it was like a lob.

  • roughly a good drop shot is a really really small lob- that's how the ball drops very close to the net more effeciently. Watch the drop shot that federer executes against Muuray in the Masters Cup- end several other better views of federer's drop shots. when aiming for a cross court drop shot- that's when a drop shot can have a smaller arc.
