Chicago might get one or two fires a night in the entire city and in the summer there are stretches of 2-3 days with no fires at all.

Also, City Council recently made a statement saying DFD ONLY averages 35 fires per night. ONLY?!

of course this was after the day that we had 84 structure fires in less than 12 hours, but still...

that figure is right detroit is a big city and one station alone will average 2 or 3 fires a night.

@11xr1east Yes Detroit does run more fires than Chicago they even run more than the FDNY or any other Dept. in this country and that ain't no shit either!

@11xr1east : YES more than Chicago. As far as actual fires, Detroit has more fire with less companies than anyone in the US. There are places that have busier companies in terms of medical runs, but not fires.

@detroitfd Just talked to a detroit firefighter, let me say this, it's a wonder we still have houses and buildings still standing. WE do have more fires, unbelievable. How can a city have more fires that a city like NY with 8 million people
