  • best show EVER...........tv for smart people!!!

  • LOVE NE!!!!

  • I just watched every single episode back to back in one week! Good thing they are out on DVD since television these days is too stupid to rerun them.

  • @GershomTalua Beautiful, heartwarming TV

  • Also remembering that the light is within. Oh yeah!

  • This is a lovely blast from the past. thanks for sharing it. It was one of my favorite shows, too. I especially loved the two (I think) episodes where John Cullum sang. I loved his character Holling but was sad that he didn't get to use his fabulous baritone singing voice very much in the series. Great show. I miss it. Good old Roslyn, Washington. Not too far from here on Orcas Island.

  • Finally a video every one agrees on and doesn't feel the need to use curse words to express themselves. Well done! My heart's not afraid to open.

  • Let their be light - A United World dot net

  • Goosebumps! Lots of Love and Light!!!

  • One of the most inspirational moments of Northern Exposure... and there are so many. And the song. Enja. Awesome!!!

A Joyful Winter Solstice to All. 2011/2012!

  • On this night of winter solstice Northern Exposure was my first thought. The most beautiful and original series ever made.

  • I miss these people. Seeing the clip made me cry. Thank you for posting it.

  • Smart, Brilliant, Perfect show! My all-time favorite.

  • You said it-the best TV series ever, ever, ever made!

  • You can buy the complete series on DVD. True chicken soup for the soul.

  • 7 people are in the dark

  • Does anyone know where I could find the Native American or Eskimo music from the show?

  • @ila1941 There was a soundtrack for the show on CD, I'm not sure where you can find it nowadays, maybe on ebay or amazon. You can find much native american music at nativeradio (dot com)

  • I miss this show so much I want to cry! Waaaaaaaaa! It's up there with MASH in my heart.

  • Is this from Buss Stop? My cousin Kenny was an extra in a number of episodes and I believe he has a speaking role in this episode. Tryin to find him!

  • Thank you thank you for this - the most intelligent tv series I have ever seen and the best scene from the series - more light to you for posting

  • So does anyone know the name of this song or what? It's awesome

  • @TheMaster1Shake

    It's "Ebudae" from "Enya".

  • @soulfire777

    Cool thanks alot :)

  • I own the whole set with the faux suede bag- along with Quantum Leap- these are the only full sets of TV shows I own. What a great great show.. this is one of my favorite clips- they were all great, amazing, characters. I miss them!!

  • i was born in the city, i love to live in the city, but when i watch northern exposure im thinking living in the province can also be cool

  • The song is by Enya, sorry don't know the name of it.

  • what is the name of the chant " song that they sing at the end? It's lovely and I would love to access it in its entirety any one knows PLEASE contact me on Facebook

  • @RhodaLevy

    ENYA ''EBUDAE''

    Here ya go.

  • This show always "watched" like a good book.

  • which episode is this from?

  • We could really use a "Chris in the Morning" to help us sift through all this political mumbo-jumbo going on these days, by summing it up with some philosophy and music to make us realize as long as you are waking up with a roof over your head and food in your tummy you are ahead in the game...

  • Loved this show but can't watch it anymore without laughing. It's really a shame Sarah Pallin had to come along.

  • I love this show. In one episode Chris said: "Last night I stepped back, and took a look, and I got this awful feeling in my stomach. Like when you fall out of love, and you know it's all over, but you're still trying to hang on". That's how I feel everytime I see this.

  • Ok,imagine this scene without this song by Enya. Wouldn't have the same magic, would it? And there are so many scenes like this on NE. I heard the DVD series doesn't have the original music, am I wrong? Because I don't know if its worth buying now.

  • A&E Bring back Northern Exposure!!!!

  • who sings this song???

  • @CichlidsRool

     Enya.

The song is Ebudae from the Shepherd Moons cd.

  • One of the best shows ever.

  • Reminds me of my love...Hi Puck

    forever smith

  • simply a great bloody show. I love so many episodes. But the election one still holds a special place in my heart.

  • Bellissimo!!!One of the best tv series ever! Alaska is a wonderful place!!infact j love also the tv series Men in trees!!j think it's "similar" to norther exposure!shame that was stopped after only 2 season!!

    ciao cheers greetings from italy!!

  • Ahhh, one of my favorites from my collection!!

  • Let there be Light. Nice Enya tune.

  • Breaks my heart that this series is gone! I watched it from episode one, and was immediately hooked! It's amazing how many un-aired episodes there are!

  • i am really, really surprised that this isn't shown in sindication. great show. yeah, pretentious at times, but enjoyable to watch.

  • I knew i recognised that voice. Is he Aiden from Sex And The City?

  • @floozysuzie20 Yeah thats Aiden.

  • @floozysuzie20 Yeah thats Aiden

  • This a quality show!!! Enjoying it every time of year for almost 18 years now!!!

    Greetings from Belgium.

  • very good scene, I miss this show.

  • I got shivers down my spine just as I did 20 years ago when this first aired. The combination of Enya's "Ebudae," along with that fantastically simplistic, yet moving speech by Chris followed by the light show just floors me every time. So many levels of beauty and poetry. Grand scale in a small town demonstrates that artistic passion can happen anywhere. I'm depressed now knowing few conceived visions put on screen will ever have a chance to match or exceed this one.

  • Pure genius. Boink says it all....

  • che meraviglia....

  • Ahhh - Enya's Ebudae!

  • That was a good one, Im going to have to find the DVD's, Thanks for posting.

  • The first and last great tv show. They might as well stop making televisions.

  • @eddiequest4 I TOTALLY agree

  • N X was one of the best shows ever

  • I love the Chris and Bernard brother relationship...that kind of connection...just warms my heart!

  • What is the song at the end? And what does it say?

  • @directorzz it's Enya, Ebudae (:

  • syksy tulee ....

  • Light is knowledge, light is light, light is life.

  • thy word is a lamp under my feet

  • more light

  • i live here in rosslyn washington

  • This show was brilliant, they didn't have to rely on cussing or nudity, the show's charming characters and clever writing made it a classic. They don't make shows this intelligent anymore.

  • @dumbangel75 Cheer up, we have X factor, Hannah Montana show etc. to watch -_-

  • I just started appreciating this show. I don't know if I was too dim before or too fast to appreciate it...or maybe something like Quantum Leap or 90210 was on at its time slot on another channel...but happy my friend re-introduced me..

  • I have looking for this for like 1 hour. Couldn't remember the the name..

  • @GabrielKnightz the song is ‪Ebudae‬ by Enya

  • Comment removed

  • Can someone please tell me the name of that song, its. . . haunting me lol

    Love the show.

  • I'm looking for the episode where Joel is sitting in a boat and comments that he's alone... alone like a stone.

  • Just so dang good! Thanks so much for posting it..best show ever ever!

  • There is something just so perfect about this moment....the wording, the visuals, the music....this was always a favorite show and this particular moment shows the perfect coming together of everything the show had. Am I the only one who gets nearly emotional when watching this scene? lol

  • To me, watching this show was like reading a good book.

I agree this scene was a particular high"light".

  • I love this! I miss the show but have all of it on DVD. Thank God for that.

  • Bless you, Soulfire777! That is one of my favorite moments ever on television. Ever. When it was first broadcast, I waited for a rerun and recorded it on VHS tape which I have kept protected over the years and still watch occasionally.

  • a 90s show made for thinkers and dreamers

  • chills and tears of beauty........a message badly needed in this time of the catastrophe of the oil in the gulf.....:(

  • I so miss the memories ne of the greatest shows ever made

  • Loved this show!!!!! I used to look forward to the weekly episodes and made sure I was home to watch it. :)

  • This is actually my least-favorite episode, just because the whole story line of Dr. fleischmann going on strike and how the town treats him was beyond ridiculous.

  • Greatest show EVER......period.

  • If you like this show you'll love the movie Local Hero. Burt Lancaster's in it too

  • My favorite!!!!!!!It's fantastic

  • @WKaliberr

& you know this because..... ??

  • "gayass nigga show" - WKaliberr, New York Times.

  • @twilson2821 damn nigga that be pretty funny, seeing that shit in a review

but thats realz you know what I mean instead of "best show this year" "immaculate" or "electrifying" some nigga should say "daayum dawg this shit sucks"

  • my mother, vicki davenport, worked on that show, she was the location manager :)

  • @dramawolfie -

They showed re - runs of Northern Exposure on A&E back about maybe 9 or 10 years ago, along w / other great shows. Now, about the only stuff they have are " Reality shows " & similar gah - bage.

  • Wish this show was still on.

  • Every time I finished watching a Northern Exposure episode I always asked myself, "OK, what was the show about?" And I could never put my finger on it. Is there a theme on that particular episode, did it have anything to do with any other episodes? Nothing, there was nothing I could think of. But that's life, isn't it? Much ado about nothing.

  • I Love how he gathered all the light fixtures from the Hood !!!

  • I love this....very nice

  • the music is from Enya

  • Does anyone know what this piece of music is in this clip?

  • I love this show. This is one of my favourite. Greetings from Hungary.

  • This is one of my favorite TV series. Greetings from Hungary.

  • TV makes me barf; this makes me cry. I got to be an extra in season six. Best show ever.

  • One of the best scenes; from one of the best Christmas episodes of any TV; from one of the best shows EVER!

'Northern Exposure' WAS real TV...the kind of real today's shows have forgotten. Remember the expression, "Must see TV"?...this was it!

  • This film is like a drug. I am addicted to it! Amazing.

  • This is my ultimate favorite part...I can't stop watching it!

I miss this show so much...best TV show ever!!!

  • I think its probably among the top 3 shows of all time. Seinfeld as well. Can't figure out the 3rd. I still remember this episode. Chris, Maurice and Joel were the best characters. Maggie was ridiculously sexy. When Paul Provenza replaced Rob Morrow it devastated the series.

  • So great how everyone's looking around at their stuff Chris borrowed for the display. Hey that's my lamp, my bulb, my beer sign. Holling taking a bite of food and looking shocked, excellent. Did Maurice pay the electric bill for this? :)

  • I love this show too. I'm Canadian and I love the little mentions of Canada in this show. Just Love the music. They play all my fav' songs! :-)

  • i love this show

  • My #2 favourite episode.

i think the best episode is the --"Kaddish"

  • Definitely one of my absolute favorite scenes from the series. This episode was one of the best.

  • Many thanks for posting this.

Watched this episode at a friend's house years ago and it took me two years to find out what is the soundtrack. ( "Ebudae" by Enya in case anyone who doesn't know wants to know. Can be found on her "Shepherd Moons" album.)

Great to see the visual again. I agree this is the best episode ever.

I make no apologies for d'loading it - it's a must for one of my websites.

Many thanks, again, for posting it ...

  • On this, the 1st snow of 2009 I want to wish all my fellow NX fans a heart felt BON HIVER!!!!!

  • If this show came back I would start episode 1 with a funeral for walt and ruth-ann and say they perished in a bush plane accident....since they died in real life I would never even try to replace them...every character in this series was irreplaceable...I only wish it could be brought back...tv has sucked ever since this show went off the air.

  • @jedirifleman they ran out of ideas for the show a couple years before it actually ended...

also janine turner's morphed into a fugly neocon pundit. nobody's tuning in for her wrinkled ass

  • @ucihapokujin She isn't fugly she is actually still quite beautiful except for the bleached hair, and yes she is a right winger, so what? There are plenty of leftwinger nuts in Hollywood, no one bothers mentioning their personal politics when watching their movies/shows.

  • @Nenayahe janine turner is pretty damned far from being beautiful these days

  • @ucihapokujin you're just saying that because you don't like her politics. This is her now img2.timeinc.net/people/i/2010/galleries/countrydownloads/100215/janine-turner.jpg I hate her blonde hair but other than that she is still quite pretty. Don't be stupid.

  • @Nenayahe actually i'm saying it because of her inability to cut it as a mature model in today's world.

i mean shit. at least she'd be getting laid if she did that

  • even here in italy there are fans of this movie series. I loved it!

  • The actress who played Ruth Anne passed away so if they brought it back it would have to leave her out.

  • I love this! Northern Exposure is priceless I so sad that they dont make new seasons :(

  • My favorite line from the series:

Joel Fleischman: That's the movies, Ed. Try reality.

    Ed: No thanks.

  • Beautiful:)

  • It was such an honor for me to work on this show.

  • Hunter, Who did you play, I Have the DVD collection, Great Show.

  • Hey john, I was an extra a few times, but my full-time gig was as a grip & lighting member of the show's film crew(first 2 years). Yes, it was a briliant show that really brought some magic to televislion. If the show had a laugh track it woulod have s.u.c.k.e.d. I think. I have great admiration for the writing team(who also gave us St. Elsewhere and Picket Fences). May we all remain residents of Cicely1 -Hunter

  • bring it back

  • This is one of the best series every made.

  • Loved this show.

Maurice: You know what the motto of the state of Alaska is Joel?

Joel: If it ain't broke don't fix it?

  • awesome

  • They always had some of the coolest music on this show. It fit the moods perfectly.

  • Awe

  • respect.

  • wow ... I remember watching this as a child...

TV series that were still magical and even a small child wasn't bored watching it.

But I won't say that people today are idiots I pass thru the comments and I read good words from plenty of You people.I think at least some of You out there will be doing something creative and constructive in future, sure I will...

  • Wich is the sonata that sounds when Maurice's dinning with the marine and talking about strange lights?

  • Wonderful!! This is one of my all time favourite episodes...it's so magical. From a HUGE Northern Exposure fan in Bonny Scotland!!

  • Beautiful, beautiful, as always with Northern Exposure - thanks so much for posting this!! BTW, who is the musical artist and what's the name of this ending song? Anyone know? And where can I get a CD set of all the original music from NE? Is there such a thing?

  • This was always an excellent show and a terrific episode!

  • Oh my, this guy could talk me into anything...I'm glad I'm not the only one who misses Cicely. If only all of our towns could be alittle more like that. Maybe someday. Until then, DVDs.

  • I agree Fadeux. Though Joel may have started out as the main character and his and Maggie's relationship the main draw...I feel the other characters were so well developed and enjoyable as any humans I have ever met in real life that the show could have THRIVED even without Joel. To this day I watch my dvd collection of Northern Exposure and dream of the day I can find a sleepy little hamlet like Cicely to live out the rest of my days....weird as it may seem, I consider myself a Cicelian.

  • @jedirifleman Try the sleepy hamlet of Haliburton Ontario Canada, 3 hours north of Toronto. We have people here who have the same eccentrics and the community is based around the arts. I have heard more then a few people compare our town to that of Cicely Alaska. We even have a community radio station and you guessed it, there is a moose on the front door. Everyone here is friendly and we all know one another. Fresh air and clean water.

  • If David Chase could have left well enough alone this show could have survived several more seasons...Joel's journey was completed but we still had many wonderful characters to spend out our free time with...Maurice, Holling, Chris, Ed, Maggie, Walt and Ruth-Anne.....Chase started making them expose a mean-spirited side in the final season and killed the ratings by tainting our bonded, family and friendship oriented hamlet of Cicely Alaska.

  • I actually grew to dislike the Joel/Maggie relationship towards the end, it almost came to a point where it was just like, "oh, ok, Joel and Maggie are bickering again... Woo...

  • Well played sir.... I love that part....

  • This was the most brilliant TV series ever produced. I am so thankful it is on DVD, as I have the whole series and love watching these episodes over and over. They are fantastic, the acting was superb, and the characters came to life. I was so sad when this series came to an end. Thanks for posting this as it is my very favorite episode ending.

  • @boink99615

    what you said my friend.

    And well said at that

  • @boink99615 I agree with you word for word. I also have the DVDs. Just started watching again as I feel Fall in the air! I realized one of the reasons I loved this show is because practically every character is smart in one way or another. No airheads...even Shelly has a smartness about her. I don't think I have followed a series ever since...except the BritCom "Red Dwarf."

  • You're a bigoted scumbag.

  • Great ending to a great episode. My favourite one was where a satellite came down and killed someone but got attached to the body. They had to put the dead guy with the satellite into the coffin. I cried with laughter on that one.

  • Greatly written TV Show, so much than the CRAP on today!

  • totally agree, this show was too smart for people. now they want lousy sitcoms, cartoons and reality tv. NX 4EVER

  • @xenafan234 Are you fucking drunk? Current television is fucking great. The best it's been so far.

  • where's "our town"

  • This is a throw-away episode for me, one where the writers seemed to have a collective brain fart. Joel would've hired an attorney and would've forced Alaska to give him a vacation or release him from his contract since Alaska initially was the party in breach of contract. And what's up with Joel's "friends" all denying him shelter? Too many people doing too many things that the characters wouldn't really have done.

  • Light is knowledge, light is life, light is LIGHT :) LOL

  • The best television show...ever! The cow/piano chunking episode was a classic..thanks for posting!

  • Big Northern Exposure fan. Nothing touches it today for breath and depth. Thanks for posting!

  • Beautiful! :)

  • yeah, this is such a wonderful ending - thanks for posting

  • fascinating!!!!!

  • I still cannot watch this clip without goosebumps and nearly shedding tears.....how uplifting is this ! Everyone in the town was sad and low, and Chris did this to pass on some happiness to his friends. This is beautiful. Enya's "Ebudae" made this so much more !

  • I agree Yooperlooper, I used to imagine living there. I loved where Maggie's house was on the edge of town. What beautiful, complex yet simple people. I think the tomato throwing episode was hysterical! Cable should have picked up this show but I did love the way they ended it. And the Native music - perfection!

  • I want to live in Cicily Alaska (even though it's not a real town - I DON'T CARE) with Chris, Dr. Joel, Maggie, Shelly and Holling and Ruthann.....and everyone.......I bought the entire 6 seasons and watch them religiously. I agree with rainssilver, and all others - this was the best dam show on tv. EVER! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!

  • yooper, I wanted to live there too - mostly to shack up with Chris

  • No doubt! Best TV series ever made, soulfire777!

Witty, crazy, deep, funny, spiritual... Direction, script, the characters, the cast... all a level on their own, unmatched till today. Couldn't agree more!
