As much as love iron maiden as they formed with Bruce. Two of his solo recordings are my absolute favorites among all of his work. Chemical Wedding and Tyranny of Souls. Maiden was the 80's Bruce's solo project was a generation forward.

adrian left in ´89 and bruce in ´93, they left to pursue solo careers but they both returned in ´99 and now iron maiden has 3 guitarists \m/ \m/

Bruce wanted to work on his solo work. They were more than happy to reunite and make more music, but Bruce's work outside Iron Maiden was better than the X-factor and Virtual XI (Iron Maiden's work during that time) and Tyranny of Souls was better than a matter of life and death.

Of course Adrian and Bruce both went back to maiden after the solo work was over, but without them leaving Janick Gers would never have joined and we wouldn't have the amazing three guitar sound.
