oic, well maybe in the olympics, because when i fight, i remember the judges using clickers, those little hand held counters that counts 1 by 1. Maybe in the olympics they use computers because in regionals they've used clickers.
All three judges have to push the button at the same time, and that's the only way the punch is gonna count. If 2 of of them press it and the 3rd doesn't, the punch doesn't count!
Combos are not scored the same as single shots. Amateur fighters get 1 point for every time the white of their gloves touch the opponents torso or head. In amateur bouts, power shots count as much as jabs, not like in the pro ranks. Knockdowns are also counted as just one punch, whether jab or power shots (any punch other than a jab). That's why there's amateur style or Olympic style boxing and Pro style. Olympic style emphasizes number of punches while pro has a huge emphasis on power punches.

I also box, and started when I was young. I couldn't imagine how bad it broke his heart when he was ROBBED of his dream at 19.
You can feel his pain while he is fighting back the tears as the decision is given.
RJJ is the gold medalist, everyone knows it.. It wasn't even a close fight.

oic, well maybe in the olympics, because when i fight, i remember the judges using clickers, those little hand held counters that counts 1 by 1. Maybe in the olympics they use computers because in regionals they've used clickers.

All three judges have to push the button at the same time, and that's the only way the punch is gonna count. If 2 of of them press it and the 3rd doesn't, the punch doesn't count!

Combos are not scored the same as single shots. Amateur fighters get 1 point for every time the white of their gloves touch the opponents torso or head. In amateur bouts, power shots count as much as jabs, not like in the pro ranks. Knockdowns are also counted as just one punch, whether jab or power shots (any punch other than a jab). That's why there's amateur style or Olympic style boxing and Pro style. Olympic style emphasizes number of punches while pro has a huge emphasis on power punches.

well actually the decision took so long to be made that the referee told Jones that he couldn't believe that they were doing this to him. the referee was for Jones, i think you meant judges though.

yeah its bad he got robbed but its just politics just how some pro fights are unfairly judged. it was such a long time ago, it surely wont happen again...dont forget the judges werent asian.

i see what you mean, some of the people near ring side do look asian, but i heard or read somewhere, none of them were, there were speculations they were well looked after tho before the bout, i think i heard it from a documentary on roy jones..i'm just going on what i know.

Roy had so much he wanted to say in that Olympic Interview but he did not want to sound like a whiny btich.So he held back from complaining about the disgraceful verdict.He even said he was still proud to be American.
Roy has Class.
I also feel sorry for the Korean dude aswell coz It was not his fault how Officials picked his Fight to Fix.
That's why he did his best to Console Roy and he never fought again after his phantom Gold medal victory.
