@esterdion continued... although I think it bears mentioning that is is someone's arrangement of Gounod's arrangement. His was definitely closer to the original Bach. This is an electric priano version. Look around for some that have harps and strings and pianos... may be a bit more satisfying.

Miss Dion is awful. She sings as if this is a love song - silly hand waves and head shakes to show passion and sincerity. She was too young to sing this - probably she would do it better justice now.

I listen to her so often--in French and in English and there was only one time that I have ever heard her miss a note--on Regis and Kathy Lee singing "Where Does My Heart Beat Now" at 23.-- one note--the rest of the song was magical. Celine is so great on stage as well as being recorded because she is a "one take gal" She doesn't make mistakes. The Titanic song done in the movie was on one take. That's how good she is.

There's one where she sang "All By Myself" and she was hoarse, but when she came to the big note, she sang it as though she was fine. There's another with the same song, and on the last phrase, she started with the wrong note, but corrected it so well, it sounded faultless and deliberate. Very few singers can get that done so seamlessly. Truly the best of them all, 30yrs and on!

i don't think there should be a comparison, they are not two versions of the same song, but two different songs, you may feel that one song is more beautiful to you than the other, but one is not better than the other.
