if i backup my save game and i buy a new sims 2 game with new expansions and packs, can i used my saved game again?

what if the old game that i bought have only nightlife and university while the new one that i bought doesn't have those expansions?

i was supposed to choose kingdom hearts 2 or sims 2 ikea well you get the point but i scchoose kingdo hearts 2 cause whats the difference with it when you have it so POINTLESS
