I like this song and video but is anyone else hearing a little bit of the live show playing in the background? The vocals seem to have a bit of an echo that is not on the studio album version.
John is the man. The music makes you think. His live shows are off the hook. Sharing the stage with this man I can say he's got what hip-hop needs. Drop some of that over produced under thought music.

John Reuben has been around for awhile. Toby Mac has gotten more noticed being from DC Talk but I've been to John Reubens concerts and their amazingly fun I'm gunna see Toby in a month I'll see who I like better then.
i am not hating on anybody at all and dont take it that way at all... but how are we being christian and spreading Gods word or trying to show other people the music we sing and listen to and praise God with.. when we cuss at the people who dont beleive in God... i know many people who dont beleive in God and i dont hate them.. i try to get them to beleive in God but cussing doesnt help AT ALL!
For every time I see people start debating about God´s existance or Christian music on videos of Christian artists I wish people would go on secular videos and debate the meaning of the lyrics, there´s some things in songs that are mainstream that really make me question society...

I love John and his music! It gets me fired up.I met John at a little event in michigan called blitzfest. totally rocks. My 10 year old was so excited that day, she loved the music and then go to talk to John after the show. That was a great day.

Mmmm I have listened to the full lyrics. I understand your point of view, definetly, but I don't see any glory towards God in the song. It seems more about feeling good and adrenaline. I know God is talked about in it, and a walk with God is mentioned but God steps into our lives to put the control back into our lives.

I interpret it to be a song that honestly, people are so deluded by the world and follow it's little fads and 'rules' that you hit a point where you fit in with the world, or you say that's it. I'm out of this. Out of Control. And that moment can be God inspired too. And it feels good to say, I'm out of this. Still, to each his own. I can't force you to like this song. I do though.
There's different perceptions of the words 'Out of Control'. It could, as you say, be perceived negatively. But it could also mean just to let yourself go for a while. With all the pressures on Christians today because of our believes sometimes it helpes just to let it go, go out of control, and let God take over. It's all in the perception. All I know is I perceive it in the latter way as my life is controlled by 1 and only person. God. If you EVER feel even a hint of his spirit, your stuck.

Personally i think the song is about how God is in control and if feels good to know that He is in control.

to be honest i didnt know who he was and found him listening to pigeon john, and throughout the whole song i got no impression that it was about god, i guess you need to read the lyrcis or maybe i wasnt listening to the lyrics enough, as a MC myself i couldnt even notice until i read all the previous posts. Promoting god or jesus is absolutely dope, but i can see eves point about how her friend got confused, because i personally thought he was talking about being pissed off.

I love John and his music! It gets me fired up.I met John at a little event in michigan called blitzfest. totally rocks. My 10 year old was so excited that day, she loved the music and then go to talk to John after the show. That was a great day.

I love John Rueben, I think he is a great Emcee. Though I do think he often uses lyrics you have to really listen to, to understand. That said he is a great performer.

I'm under the impression you won't listen to this but, lest you forget Christians were once thought to be rebels against society. Maybe he's talking breaking out of societies control, not leaving God. Listen to the lyrics. John Reuben is one of the most honest Christians you could listen to. Mmmm I have listened to the full lyrics. I understand your point of view, definetly, but I don't see any glory towards God in the song. It seems more about feeling good and adrenaline. I know God is talked about in it, and a walk with God is mentioned but God steps into our lives to put the control back into our lives.

Well that's your call, if you interpret it to not praise God then go ahead. I interpret it to be a song that honestly, people are so deluded by the world and follow it's little fads and 'rules' that you hit a point where you fit in with the world, or you say that's it. I'm out of this. Out of Control. And that moment can be God inspired too. And it feels good to say, I'm out of this. Still, to each his own. I can't force you to like this song. I do though.

There's different perceptions of the words 'Out of Control'. It could, as you say, be perceived negatively. But it could also mean just to let yourself go for a while. With all the pressures on Christians today because of our believes sometimes it helpes just to let it go, go out of control, and let God take over. It's all in the perception. All I know is I perceive it in the latter way as my life is controlled by 1 and only person. God. If you EVER feel even a hint of his spirit, your stuck.

I see your point Eve...but the message here does seem to be to let God take control...thus leaving you out of control. in fact if you take a closer look at those lyrics you will see that hes not talking about going out of control and doin stupid stuff like alchohol drugs or any of that. he is talking the ENTIRE song about being out of control of his life... the song is spiritual you however are taking the hook line and judgin the whole song. that said, Rueben is a decent emcee at best.

Evolution isn't even a theory, actually. Evolution is a hypothesis. By definition, "theory" is a hypothesis that has been tested and proved CORRECT by multiple tests. And, any tests put to evolution have eventually been proved wrong. It's not so with Christianity. You can ask a Christian any questions about Christianity and they can be answered. Evolution leaves a lot of holes.

Evolution is a possibility, but scientists have taken a look at it in the mathematical terms of the word "probability" and have come to the conclusion there is a one out of ten quadrillion chance that it did happen. This happened through Chronological clocks, as well as several different aspects of testing. So honestly, it takes a little more faith to believe in Evolution than it does to believe in God.

Also, I dont believe what people tell me to believe. I used to believe in god you know, but I suddenly realised the concept of god was completely ridiculous. Of course the media is brainwashing, but I try to ignore it. I dont listen to this appalling modern music, I listen mostly to 60's music. Im not fashion obsessed etc. And even if I follow what scientists say, Im sure you do too.  When you eat, do you live of burgers, or do you eat healthily? this is kinda late to jump into, but the concept of God is ridiculous to what? It takes more faith to believe we all evolved from a lower level species, that the galaxy was formed by a big bang, and that we all have a common anscestor. It takes more faith to believe that this is all coincidence, and that the earth was exactly placed by chance so that two degrees closer to the sun it would burn up and two degrees father it would freeze. It almost sems ridiculous to NOT believe in God.

When I was young I saw the supernatural, angels & demons. So has my little sister, but no-one in my family has. You have the control over your life, not god. If you look back on everything that's happened to you, you'll realise it was merely cause and consequence, god had nothing to do with it. Also, it's slightly understandable why people believe in god, but it makes NO sense why people would in the bible. Why is it superior to the quraan or any other 'religious' texts. Did you know there were dozens of gospels, but the romans burnt all but the most conservative ones.
