While Iron Maiden took the main riff for this for their song "2 Minutes to Midnight", I'm sure Budgie was probably listening to the song "Rock and Roll" by Led Zeppelin, which is based on one of the most popular structures in rock and roll, the 12 bar blues progression (in A). This just proves that all good music is derived from the blues.
@DoomMetalSludge Wish there were more dudes like you on the scene, givin things a bit of thought, i.e. remember the era that budgie derived from. Listen to the sound man this is a THREE PIECE, Magic.
@Nikiyolstik not all of them but heres a few swords of tequila-riot welcome to hell- venom play it loud- diamond head stranglehold- ted nugent seek and destroy- virtue curse of the pharoahs- mercyful fayte stand up and shout- dio skin o' my teeth- megadeth flash rockin man- accept head out to the highway- judas priest there may be slight variations but the VERY beginning of the riff is the same
Budgies Wildfire Was Done in 1980 Iron Maidens 2 Minutes to Midnight was Done In 1984 Iron Maiden Also Done A Cover Of A Budgie Song Called "I Can't See My Feelings"
Yes, I am also reading Mustaine's book and he mentions how much he liked Budgie! I had never heard of them and now I have. Dave, thanks for sharing! You rock!
Never even heard of this band 'til I bought the autobiography of Dave Mustaine (Megadeth) the other day. He and Lars Ulrich (Metallica) have Budgie listed as one of their top 3 fav bands... The others are I.Maiden and Motorhead
i love budgie, but i feel this was their weakest era. the songs they were writing in late 70's/early 80's were going along the rocka nd roll type route, in contrast to the heavy-sludge rock of the early days where they were truly awesome.great band though. just my opinion folks
hay man put the lyric on the side love sing this track I cant talk, I cant walk I cant think, I cant drink I cant crawl, I cant fall I cant move, but I can groove I got a wildfire, I got a wildfire in my bed Shes just a wildfire Wildfire is a high wire in my head Thats what I said She dont cook, a she dont look She cant dance, she put me in a trance
you can find it on "the BBC recordings" and "life in san antonio" and "we came we saw".. if there's any other budgie album featuring this song please let me know.
@prodeckman It's On the Rare 1993 CD Release Of Power Supply, They Put the "If Swallowed do not Induce Vomiting" EP On there as Bonus Tracks which Includes this and 3 Other songs. The CD's Hard to Come By now though.
@killerb720 idk when this particular song was written, but ALOT of bands have used this riff.... (riot, judas priest, diamond head, venom, accept, and MANY others)

Didn't Budgie release their first album in 1971? Because in the description it says being played as early as 1973. I think that is wrong?

dantes1815 1 year ago
@dantes1815 so true. Maiden has done tons of Budgie covers. At least they acknowledge the band! But, 2 minutes is def. a ripoff of this song's riff!
