In my opinion, this visit is due to growing instability in the middle east as Iran and its great diplomacy prevented Israeli attack so far. It's in America's intrest to pull Lebanon out of Ahmadinejad's axis. Turkey which is a NATO ally and very important country in terms of USA's military logistics no longer seems to be cooperating. All arab nations unite against Israel and may spark serious military conflict many of us haven't seen yet. That's what I see.
