He is parodying the crap interviews that usually happen, which is why she has the answers written down. Kate Bush has always had connections to the comedy circuit. She likes to use her humour whether you get it or not.

I've heard that from other British Kate fans, that Kate had a bit of a cobbled-together accent that she used in interviews. Some of the earlier interviews, especially the German "Kate Bush on Tour", have different one.

But on the other hand, when I showed a interview to some British fans who had never heard her speak, they found her accent amusing. They claimed that "it's the same one as all the used car dealers". But that might have just been gay snark.

I'm English and it's true that she does have an interesting voice. It's usually quite posh and then all of a sudden for a second or two she sounds like a bloke down the pub.

It's weird, cause in some of her early interviews they'd accuse her of putting on a cockney accent, and say that due to her upbringing, blah blah blah, it wasn't her real voice. I'd say like most, we always tend to speak 'posher' in a more formal situation, so that's probably why she does it.

Her background is: grew up in Welling, Kent, went to a Convent school there, got signed and then lived in London in a flat belonging to her father. The school might have tried to instill a more posh accent. Don't know. She now lives near Reading.

She comes from Kent, as you say, and her accent is quite a typical accent from that part of the UK. It doesn't sound odd or put on to me, (I'm from nearby). Going to a convent school wouldn't make her accent any more refined or posh, (if she had gone to a fee-paying private school then, yes, that would have changed her accent).
