What about a pragmatic, moderate party? Not enslaved to the Christian right or the fringe academic left, not glorifying ignorant populism but actually benefiting average people. Not isolationist, but not a world cop. Not a science denying, "faith-based" pseudo theocracy. Not tied to any fundamentalist economic policy, but willing to consider what works and what doesn't. That actually sounds appealing.
