She is definitely like first soprano when her voice taking care of and rested! She sounds well rested for this!!!!!!!!!

I think Yolanda (now) is more of a dramatic mezzo-soprano. When she first came out she was definitely a first soprano though. She can still get up to G5 most days but she has gained more power behind her voice since her tessitura has lowered.

I agree and sort of disagree with what you said. I think she is more of a second soprano now because i think she is more comfortable in her soprano range than alto range. I rarely see a video of her singing really low the whole time. But i also agree with kmaur21 that when her voice is rested she can do first soprano.

I'd say she's in between alto and soprano tessitura. I'll put it this way. If she's singing in a church choir, she'll probably sing alto, but if she sings in a concert choir she would probably sing first or second soprano.

I would still have to disagree...i saw videos of her singing backgrounds in both Jesus be a fence w/ Fred Hammond, Donnie, and Shirley and Heaven w/ Shirley caesar and she sang the soprano part both times and Held it DOWN!! I DO AGREE with you that her tessitura has lowered but I still think she herself would prefer to sing in the soprano section.

i love that performance too, but the highest note there was "only" f5 - yolanda's signature high note. but i've seen a behind-the-scenes video and she hit g5 there during the rehearsal

I think should would be a soprano in a gospel choir and probably a first alto in a concert choir..considering the fact that in gospel u use more of your chest voice, concert choir requires more of the head voice..however both genres of music at times require you to mix...just my opinion
