I'm Australian, And I too Have to work for anything I want. I pay for my own schooling, all my art supplies and even for my pets and what not. I dont rely on anyone not even my parents because I hate feeling like I'm asking for too much. I agree with you 100% though, There are kids out there who cant even afford clean water, clothes or even food and yet some kids are far too spoilt, get what ever they want when they want. They wouldn't even know hard work if it was to save their own life.

Actually you don't need to be rich to move out "early" my 2 older sister both got out at 18 or 19 and they paid everything themselves including their cars. Of course they were just renting with a roommate at first but they both own houses a few years later. I agree with what you said though.

Heck, his two older brothers, they ALL live in the same house (one of them is married and has a child!) and you know, his mom is cooking up something good. I think in part, it has to do with our culture (I think: collectivism vs. individualism). We Latinos love our families and are there for each other..we stick together.

I'm 23 and I'm white female that lives in North CA. I had to take out a loan for my Chevy 98 Prizm. My dad didn't give me a car like I see other kids my own age being given cars. My dad went with me when I got the loan and the lady at the bank was like "you're not gonna give her a car?" My dad said I had to work for it. That is why I am staying home and working 2 jobs right now, to prepare myself to be independent when the time comes. I also hate it when people say they are independent just because they moved out. I pay board every fortnight and I help with the housework so it works out for everyone, really :-) Especially since you can't even get a one-room flat in this town because the rent's so damned high hardly anyone can afford it. I'm half white && half mexican, im only 17 (just turnd 17 in the summer) and my parents are tell me all the time to get a job, buy your own car, if i want something earn the money to get it, and thier going to keep telling me this till i do get a job and its not like i constanly ask them for money cuz i dont i earn it by cleaning the house for them. :) (just though i share how things work for me)

If this is what you mean by "American" American is a citezenship. America is the "Melting Pot" most of the Whites don't even know what type of European descent they are or even if they're fully "white/european."

I'm 27 and I live at home with my parents but it's no problem for anyone. I pay board every fortnight and I help with the housework so it works out for everyone, really :-) Especially since you can't even get a one-room flat in this town because the rent's so damned high hardly anyone can afford it.
