  • I actually didn't know anything about it because I watched the full match. I was stunned the next night on Nitro and annoyed when they re-aired it cause I had already saw it. Then I heard about how many people missed it and appreciated that WCW did it.

  • I know somebody had stated that DirecTV and Dish Network had shown the event in its entirety and that cable providers were the ones that pulled the plug at 11. Does anyone know if Primestar Satellite had shown the whole event? Reason I ask is because Primestar was owned by cable operaters and cable operators had pulled the plug at 11pm and I'm curious to where this left Primestar in this whole thing

  • I looked at the stats and the following Monday night after this was the last time Nitro led in the ratings.

  • @unclefestus and that was only because they showed a pay per view match on free tv lol. didnt they only take the lead 3 times after the wwf ended their winning streak?

  • According to Eric Bischoff (take it for whatever it may be worth), no one was ever refunded. WCW would have lost more then double on orders because the PPV companies take more then a 50% split. Looks like WWE can't stop the train bullshit they always put out.

  • I remember begging to my parents about ordering this PPV & they kept saying no because of the cost. When i heard about this cut, i'm glad my parents didn't order it for me. Good thing is the match aired on Nitro.

  • wcw was runed bye vince russo who killed the bussiness for them

  • i remember this =(

  • wow good thing i was there haha

  • at least victory road got to witness the end of the main event.

  • Not only did the ppv go out-I remember the entire event having no sound. I called my cable company at the time and they had told me tons of others had the same problem.

  • this was the first and last wcw ppv I ever bought

  • heres what they should of done.... insted of puting Goldberg and DDP in the main event they should have put hogan and the warrior in the main event or some other kind of match... because it would been better to see the match you have been waiting for and to not have it cut off.... i mean WWE has some how done the same thing... when Rock face Hogan every body thought that was the last match but then they had the WHC match... not a good way to end a PPV

  • Anyone who bought the show on cable, through InDemand, or whatever the ppv provider was at the time, lost the show at 11.

Anyone with a dish got the whole thing because DirecTV (and I assume Dish Network as well) schedules the ppv shows for 4 hours.

  • Complacency kicked in. The team did not care if they f**ked up because they had an unlimited bank account and those who were friends with the big bosses were guaranteed their jobs regardless.

WCW was not ran as a company but a bunch of people who did what they wanted

  • They had too many damn matches on that card for one. 4 out of the first 5 matches should've not taken place that night. They should've been matches for Nitro.

  • I got to see the whole PPV the night it aired, and had recorded it on VHS, but for the life of me I can not find the full PPV that I saw so many years ago, I've been looking and looking for the Meng vs Wrath match, Finlay vs Wright, and Saturn vs Lodi.

  • I may have been making fun of this but for real I do feel bad for those who order the ppv and this shit went down and were robbed of their hard earn money

  • Nevermind my previous comment...I read the comment wrong...

  • I had this PPV on VHS...o.O...I swear it had a conclusion...Besides the fact that Goldberg won...Point in saying this is because I saw a comment that said the VHS tape cut off...

  • @SlasherLink119 Yeah, well footage of the match still existed, the full match made it onto the extras on the "Rise & Fall of WCW DVD", and you're right the VHS had the whole match. The match didn't leave the ENTIRE PPV audience in the dark, but a significant percentage was. For example, I was watching this PPV at home and I did catch the entire match. However my cousin, watching the PPV at a sports bar just a 5 minute drive away, didn't see it, because the bar was using a different PPV....

  • @SlasherLink119...cont'd....provider than I was using. He actually callled me to see what was up, and I could hear all the people in the background pissed off!

  • You know what was sad afew months later Jerry The King Lawler made of WCW when they show a preview for Survivor Series and he said "And You will See The Survivor Series Uncut".

  • @Terryfan yeah, I remember King mentioned that during the Rock/Foley match int he finals, and JR replied, "It's not nice to make fun of those less fourtanate than us". Hahaha! Burn!

  • @Samoajoefan Yeah that was classic King for pulling a joke much to the dismay of WCW. I'm sure JR laugh about it after the show. Still classic JR and King when it comes to play by play.

I'm surer the fans that were pissed off about Halloween Havoc 1998 being cut off order Survivor Series 1998 to get their revenge

  • I understand WCW made a big mistake that night but lets look at the rest of the card: Chris Jericho Vs Raven, Hulk Hogan Vs Ultimate Warrior, Scott Hall Vs Kevin Nash, Sting Vs Bret Hart. That's a bigger lineup then Wrestlemania will probably have this year.

  • @xcef2005 Nothing techinically wrong with the card on paper, sure! But lets look at this! Sting vs. Hart met a lot less than it should've, the feud was badly booked, and Hart was a lost cause at that point. Hall and Nash also had a bad feud. Don't even get me started on Hogan vs. Warrior! That has to be one of the biggest atrocities in wrestling history. Raven vs. Jericho DID deliver, and guess what...it WASN'T EVEN advertised! So yes, despite the caliber of stars, this show was doomed!

  • @Samoajoefan I was still young when I started watching WCW so perhaps you remember the feuds better then I do. I own the PPV though and I felt Sting Vs Hart was a good match and Jericho Vs Raven as you mentioned. Your right Warrior Vs Hogan was bad, but I did enjoy the build up. Also I personally Loved Hall Vs Nash. They were best friends when Hall turned to the "dark side" Nash wanted to teach his friend a lesson and wake him up. I loved the ending myself.

  • When I saw this, I thought it was cut off air because Goldberg and DDP really began going at it by stiffing each other and not following the script.

  • yeah i have it recorded on tape and it stops during the warrior hogan match but the main event was re recorded probaly on nitro not sure WATCH MY VIDS OR ELSE

  • @nwo4life3 Did it stop during the first part of the match or during the middle of the match?

  • @Terryfan middle then picks up at the end

  • @nwo4life3 Thank you for your help I heard stories about the ppv cutting off but I mostly hear it during the WCW Championship match which in my opinion was a better match then "hogan vs warrior 2"

  • LMAO ... Can only imagine thousands of viewers going ape shit when this happened

  • this piece in the documentary is just more of WWE trying to make the people in WCW look bad in comparison. It was all about Vince waggin his dick like he never booked someone heavily that never drew shit and how he never made terrible booking decisions. this dvd was garbage

  • That only happened to about 25% of the audience, and the next night on Nitro it was aired for all to see.

  • @MissDeeCole But you see here's the problem. That pissed off the people who paid there hard earned money to see this match. Maybe a majority of the 25% of the audience who lost the feed might've been happy, but the 75% who paid money and still saw it, were angered that it was available to anyone and everyone the next night no cost at all. So even THEY started demanding refunds. See Vince McMahon had to handle a situation similar to this, about two years prior......

  • @MissDeeCole...(cont'd).... Durign the In Your House: Beware of Dog PPV in May of 1996, Tornado weather hit the area, and knocked the feed out. That wasn't the fault of anyone accept mother nature. But since there was no playable footage to show the three matches nobody saw, on the Tuesday night Vince actually had the three matches completely re-done, and it aired for free to ONLY those who ordered teh PPV on the Sunday. And the complaints subsided quickly.

  • @Samoajoefan I never knew that part on that the WWF fans that order Beware of Dog got to see the show for free I think it is the right thing to do for the fans who didn't get to see the show in full so I give Vince and World Wrestling Federation points for their good deed to the fans

  • IMO Goldbergs greatest match....put on TV for free....what a waste of cash

  • McMcMannequin.

  • wcw in a nutshell

  • @joshoct1984: How the hell could McMahon have had anything to do with it? WCW fucked up and went over their scheduled time, simple as that.

  • @joshoct1984 Retard

  • This was really just for effect by WWE on the WCW DVD.

In reality, the PPV cut off toward the end of the Hogan/Warrior match. I remember Warrior coming off the top with a double axe-handle, and the feed then cutting to black. After that, Time Warner started offering the immediate replays of PPVs for free, so that sort of thing never happened again.

  • I think it only happened for some people, though. I taped it on VHS years ago and remember watching the pay-per-view from start to finish, including this match. Still, interesting piece of history.
