@sk863cuz: check for any leaks on either the master cylinder or your slave cylinder. If everything seems fine, it might be your clutch. But first check for leaks

Just got a 98 today ! 4runners are the shit. I have a question though.. I cant shift into 1st or reverse with the engine on now. I think i need a new slave cylinder but im not sure, any advice?

@Jakeman2164 when I was 12 my dad taught me how to drive our 88 toyota 4runner v6 5 speed. The clutch was 20 years old at the time. Didnt stall it then, have a couple of times since! Cool

One thing you are doing wrong is driving with your foot rested on the clutch. Always take your foot of the clutch between shifts. You'd be amazed how quickly you'll wear the throw out bearing

someone asked me "Would you rather shift to the next gear or change to the next song?" I was like both, ignorant automatic drivers must think you have to have your hand on the shifter constantly, no, only when shifting. Nice video, the 4runner is a very decent vehicle.

There is some truth to that. It's not terrible, but you might be putting strain on the syncros if you use your shifter as an armrest.

id think its a better habit to have it on the shifter in case you need to shift into gear really fast, though i usually keep my hand off out of habit. i wouldn't see a reason why you cant do that though.

I never drove it in the snow, I can imagine that it would be pretty good, although I believe it was a 2 wheel drive. this was actually taken in the summer after I detailed it as well. It was a trade in at the dealership and thought I'd take it for a spin! Taught myself how to drive a stick and it's so much fun lol :P
