i reckon 2:11 is perfect, a big drum beat really wouldn't fit the song and in my opinion i don't think the song is supposed to fit into normal song standards if you get what i mean it's completely different from almost everything out there and i love it even more for it :D

Ah boi. Thank goodness for the break and vocals. I'm not the hugest fan of minimalism. John Cage bothers me with his 4 minutes 'silence' piece where the musicians are in the play position but don't actually play anything.

But I do appreciate that Bon Iver explores a range of styles though.

You right though, I would have to like hearing piano to know how difficult it was to play.

This IS annoying though.

The notes are dissonant to each other, especially when the melody starts, and repeated for far too long.

This isn't difficult to play, no one in their right mind would sit there and play two notes with their right hand for 5 minutes.

It is most likely recorded and then duplicated to fit the length of the song.
