'The Return of the Eagle' played on fiddle, 'uilleann' pipes and low whistles. The Irish instrumental duo, Flaithrí and Eoghan Neff (NeffBros) were given the freedom by Atli Orvarsson to arrange this track. The Neff Brothers chose to work around the Irish traditional tune "The Musical Priest". Their earthy uninhibited traditional instrumental textures and improvisations can be heard throughout the film's score. web neffbros.eu . The sounds that Eoghan gets out of the fiddle is amazing. Thanks.
Im talking about the lead instrument.im aware of what the instruments uou mentioned are and it sounds like neither.. its definately a string instrument and certain parts of the song could only have been done on a fiddle or violin
@KaiserGray94 It wasn't as simple as that. The Romans wanted materials in Celtic lands for their own benefit, they didn't want to destroy the people . Celtic culture survives today because the independent Celts were some of the only people in Europe stable or unchanged enough after the fall of the Roman Empire to survive relatively unscathed from attacks from eastern invaders. Otherwise, celtic culture would have been absorbed and forgotten long ago.
The Romans tried destroying the Celts because like them we were great... but then again it is the Celts, not the Romans, that still exist to this day... let Celtic culture survive for much longer... let it continue to grow and once again thrive...
@GreenGhost494 its not either its bagpipe and herdiegerdie old forgotten language and herdie gerdie player are only found in places that still go on tradition modern day scotland norwegian nord and gaelic towns
@KaiserGray94 I like this music and I like rap. It depends what type your talking about. Modern rap is shit in my opinion, but stuff from the 90's is great.
this song sounds more irish than scottish. scottish music seems to be more pipes and drums but in a way i can hear a bit of scottish in this song aswell.
@Qurio3 The Irish traditional musicians playing are Flaithrí and Eoghan Neff (Uilleann Pipes, Whistles and Fiddle) ... they arranged this piece around the traditional tune "The Musical Priest" . Danke
I wish Italy could get back 1 per cent of what it has been in the ancient time... just 1 per cent... not this shit with Berlusconi, corruption, mafia and so on... just 1 per cent...
As soon as the movie is over and this song starts to play all you want to do is break out into a giant grin and stand up and dance. And that is exactly what I do.
ok is someone gonna make a cover or not im w8ting for someone with great violin talent or someone with a great bagpipe talent :D comon ppl i want to hear ya!!!
@LovKaiBaby the film's order for the tunes is : 01 - North Of The Wall 02 - Better Angry Than Dead 03 - Barbarians 04 - Testudo 05 - Honourable Discharge 06 - Eagle Lost, Honour Lost 07 - Highlands 08 - Searching 09 - Edge Of The World 10 - The Seal People 11 - Beyond The Territories 12 - Fleeing The Village 13 - Esca's Freedom 14 - I Will Return 15 - The Ninth Legion 16 - Out Swords 17 - May Your Souls Take Flight 18 - The Return Of The Eagle So the song is repeated, not much help, sorry :(
I love the kind of movie that at the end makes you jump up and say "HELL YEAH" in the cinema. Awesome movie with a perfect ending that left me high for the rest of the day. Awesome.
i love the rythm when a violin is being played like that it makes u wanna learn one too and even join with the song :D too bad i have a guitar :D cant do that with it but still awesome song
The traditional musicians playing are Flaithrí and Eoghan Neff (Uilleann Pipes, Whistles and Fiddle) ... they arranged this piece around the traditional tune "The Musical Priest" :)
@MichelleSeven Scottish and Irish music are very much very similar, due to the fact it's Celtic music, the two countries are connected from deep roots. Regardless of whether the Scotti (that you saw in the film) were indigenuous to Scotland or not.
@0rangaStang I'm German and Russian. When I watch war movies, I'm always divided among who I support lol. Even when I play World at War, shooting Germans seems strange to me.
@IBiteTheHandThatFed Haha, I know what you mean! I've got some Scottish blood in me from my grandfather, but the rest of me is English, and those two countries used to go at it hammer and tongs on a regular basis. I'm torn over who to root for :)
Oh man I watched this and when I walked out the theatre I was shocked I was still in NYC. I mean genuinely felt bad for I wasnt there anymore. But thats great theater for you : ]

@RandomLoser21 I think competition for the epicness of The Eagle will be too tall an order to beat. I long had an idea for a movie like this, Romans vs. Britons, and the fact that they were speaking Scottish Gaelic for real (I understood it) and not some made up gibberish is just sooo much WIN!!!!! (Native Gaelic Speakers FTW!!!)
AHHH, I love this soundtrack SOOO Much! It's so beautiful and gave me shivers while it boomed through the dark theatre. Truly a feel of the Highlands! <3
