@aarfeld: Well, he MIGHT be acting sincere. You know what a wise man said about sincerity? "Once you can fake THAT, you've got it made."
I think Tom Cruise still needs to work on his sincerity, though. I mean, look at those mad staring eyes... It's almost as if he's trained to do some sort of internal monologue at Scientology Camp or whatever...
"Ok Tom, here's how it works. You just lock eyes with someone and internally repeat: "YOU WILL BELIEVE ME, YOU WILL BELIEVE ME." And they WILL, Tom!"
Now I have absolutely no belief system whatsoever; but current faiths are rather suspicious of Scientology becuase of its 'general' basis in 'science'. It is to science that we owe all advances in our human societies whereas religion has held its believers in some sort off ancient, medieval moral suspension that is wholly 'aprogressive', in fact religion is retroprogressive! Humans feel the genetic necessity to congregate and 'shoal', and anything group-based exemplifies this! Darwin rules...
Since when is Marcus Brigstocke "the BBC"? Are they regularly dissing Cruise on "Cash in the Attic"? Are they going to shoehorn a Scientology diss into the next "Walking With Dinosaurs" special? I can hear Branagh now, "The TRex stalks in silence, while right beside him a bunch of gormless alien soul fragments await the arrival of humanity in 75 million years."
Marcus Brigstocke has an independent mind. Unlike Scientologists, employees of the BBC aren't brainwashed into towing the organisational line. Well not usually, and certainly not Marcus.
I remember being young back in the Top Gun days and thinking Tom Cruise talked out of his arse then... *sigh* lol. I love Marcus Brigstocke. Gonna see him live in March woohoo!
LOL I love English programs like this, they're so fuckin funny

If I didn't know better I'd think that ol' Tom was acting in a comedy sketch--but no, he's quite serious. Scary!

No, they're suspicious of it because it sounds like the plot of a third rate sci-fi movie starring John Travolta.
Not that their invisible friends and ghost stories are much more believable.

I'm a paramedic and if a scientologist stopped at a scene I was working I'd have him arrested. Interfering with a rescue is a crime.

Tom Cruise verführt zum Bösen,
zu Scientology,
zu einem die Seele zerstörenden Irrglauben!
Anonymous lässt das nicht zu.

If i'm ever in an accident, call a fucking ambulance. If you're a Scientologist and you come to "help", i will find the strength to strike you.

scientology is no different to any other religion.
TheEnglishAreComing 3 years ago
its not a religion in the uk, its classified as a cult. Buuuuuttttt, i do see your point!
Atheism all the way!!
nitroglysarine 3 years ago 13
It's very different to many religions. The most obvious point being that you don't have to pay to get ahead in any other religion.
