This video is interesting it informs about all the different tupes of anxiety disorders. I personally sometimes worry a lot and get anxxious but its something minimal not extreme. Its interesting how a persons behavior can say a lot about themselves
Anxiety is a typical and normal reaction to stress. This video was quite helpful in terms of discussing the different reasons of stress. I know I can relate to it because I've had couple of anxiety attacks where I was constantly sweating and my heart started racing faster than ever. I could feel the pressure from the inside building up. I've had false alarms with anxiety attacks when rushed to the ER and the doctors had found nothing to be wrong with me.
this video was very informal. it describes the different factors of stress and breaks things down to the core. my favorite is the discussion on phobias, only because i can relate to it ;and i am pretty sure everyone can too. intresting!!!!
I liked this video because i thought panic attacks came from flash backs but it gave me many thing it can come from. It also gave me the different types on panic attacks there are.
It's kind of funny when you mention that many people think that they are having a heart attack when they are actually having a panic attack instead. This exact same thing happened to my college roommate and I had to rush him to the ER and sit around the waiting room for hours until the doctor confirmed the false alarm. He really thought that he was dying or that he had a serious arrhythmia, when he was just stressed about school. Not funny, I guess, but certainly something to remember
This was a usefull video to watch because it gives people different stratagies to help manage their stress. This video makes me think of my own actions and how i could have handeled them better. I have made a promise to myself to practice the different stratigies given.
I feel like I suffer from a social anxiety. I am not antisocial and I am always happy to meet new people and start conversations with strangers. Sometimes I am walking through a public area where there are a lot of people and I will feel like some of them are looking at me. When this happens I tense up and notice that I have tensed up because my walking feels unnatural and awkward.
The video gave a thorough explanation of the different kinds of Anxiety Disorders. The most compelling one was the confusion when one assumes they are having a heart attack, but in reality it is a panic attack. It has been noted, anxiety disorders in 1990 cost the U.S. $46.6 billion.
The video was a great overview of what anxiety really is. I have several phobias myself- from birds to elevations. The video mentioned PTSD and some of the symptoms. I had a traumatic experience when I was younger, but have no memory of it. However, it is apparent every time I look in the mirror. Is it possible for a person to have PSTD and not remember the event?
In Korea, over 20 million adults and children are suffering from anxiety disorders every year. Anxiety is the most common psychological disorder in the nation. However, they do not know that what type of anxiety disorder they have. Dr. Elligan explains that types of anxiety disorder which are panic attacks, phobias, OCD, ect. It is very informative.
I really liked this video and especially the pictures. They were compelling and brought what you were saying home. As an athlete, I have a lot anxiety before playing a sport. I worry about getting hurt, if I'm going to do well, etc. I try not to let it get to me but on some days it's overwhelming. Though once the game starts, I'm too busy on playing that I don't concentrate on what I'm worry about. So a good way to get over anxiety is to something in the present and don't worry about the future.
Great examples on the symptoms of anxiety disorder. Phobia anxiety symptoms are one disorder that i would hear one's complain about. Consequently, they do not fly on a air plane or other things that sets off their symptoms. In addition, Generalized anxiety disorder is what many of the people I surround myself with face. They worry about things that should not be on their mind.
This video was a great introduction the different types of anxiety. The very specific examples of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and panic attacks made it easy to relate. Watching this ten-minute video is a must-watch for someone that wants to learn more about their own anxiety or to understand better the anxiety another is feeling.
This video was highly interesting. I find that nowadays, the public has to be a lot well informed about these "common" disorders because we live in a hectic world. I find that OCD and Generalized anxiety are very complex disorders, that are highly frustrating for the individual, making it hard to get by day by day.
having been in a long relationship with someone who exhibited compulsive behavior, i can say that the people that this affects have a hard time with these issues, and routine can take over one's life. Thank you for the informative video.
I sometimes go through anxiety especially around midterms and finals. It is very alarming that future events that haven't even happened yet can cause people such serious problems. Stress has such a negative effect on the body and mind. Thank you Dr. Elligan for opening my eyes to such a interesting topic.
I can show this video to my mother to let her know that she's not having panic attacks when she sees earth worms, but that she simply has a phobia of them that causes her to become extremely frightened of them simply because she refuses to believe that they do not or cannot bite.
Anxiety and anxiety related disorders can be very hard to live with. It is overwhelming how life can put soo much pressure on the body physically by mentally disturbing us. These disorders affect lives soo traumatically and alot of drastic means are taken to deal with them. The best way to help yourself is to find your own special way to cope with the apprehensions and fear so that your body can be ready for the next one mentally.
This video is very informative. Most of people are experiencing anxiety in everyday of their life. But often people are not aware that repeat panic attack can leads to panic disorder. So this video discussion is helpful for me and for all the people who are struggling with anxiety. cicily joseph
This video is very informitive. Wow alot of disorders have something to do with anxiety. Panic attacks sounds really horrible, Ive heard about a girl who had a panic attack in college because she was undocumented and felt very anxious all the time that someone might find out she had no papers. Very bad to have.
Dr. Elligan explains anxiety and disorders related to anxiety very well. This information is very helpful because sometimes in life we may experience anxiety. Once you understand what is happening, you may be able to develop coping mechanisms or ways to defuse your anxiety.
I think its important to learn about different anxiety especially people that experience these types of anxiety. I know a person that experience panic attacks on the regular, so it's very interesting to know.
Dr. Elligan did a great job explaining the anxiety disorders. It was helpful to learn more about phobias because there were things I didn't know. It's important to know what kind of phobias there is and he explains them very well. He seems passionate about the topic and seems comfortable. Also, he gives good example of how people live with these disorders and things like that.
This episode made me realize that everyone has different ways they handled anxiety. This also showed me that anxiety and anxiety disorders have different categories. These anxieties may be difficult to overcome, but it is possible if the individual put their mind to it. Very detailed and interesting. Great examples to illustrate the topic
I find O.C.D to be very interesting. I most recently come into contact with two people that may have symptoms of P.T.S.D. Both persons were victims of rape. I had no idea as to how to go around this issue, but I told them both that i am here if they want to talk about it-- but also recommended a therapist. It seemed like they wanted a relationship, but couldn't get passed the experience :-(
I had my major anxiety attack around one year ago and it finished at the ER.... so far I'm doing better i guess. You could give some info how to deal with it. Good job with video though.
I wished I would've had some knowledge of this when I was younger. I used to get panic attacks all the time. I was about thirteen years old when I started getting them. After the panic attacks, I also had OCD, only that i did not know & I was scared to mention it. Gratefully, the last time I got one was probably about two years ago & OCD simply disappeared. i'm glad I dont suffer through that anymore; because it was hell. Thanks Dr. Elligan, now I know what disorder I used to have.
