Hah, I love looking at the old comments. I remember when all this was happening, I was begging them to take Rose over Beasley.

Beasley plays on the perimeter way too much to have 20-10 numbers. That was obvious, even in college. He's a good player, for sure, but Kirk+Ben Gordon+Beasley wasn't going to work. Every great team needs a dynamic scorer who can create points on their own. It's rare to see a finals team without one.

Remember that Ainge had one of the worst teams in the league assembled and then "lucked into" Garnett (and Allen) when his old teammate did him a solid favor. AND...Mitch Kupchek "lucked into" Pau Gasol when his old boss Jerry West helped put together one of the most lopsided trades in RECENT NBA history. Unless you are an idiot and believe that Gar Forman is really the architect of this team you should be giving Pax his due. He put this entire team together, had enough flexibility to sign the Big 3 here (the fact that they already made their minds up in China isn't on him. The thing you keep forgetting is that they can go out and trade for a 20-10 guy. There will be some guys available. They need a guard that can break down a defense and finish at the basket, Rose is that player. Then they can use one of those extra guards to make a deal.

Draft Rose, make a trade for an inside scorer, eithe in the offseason or at the deadline.

He is a sure pick ie he will definately be good, no risk involved. Often you have to take the biggest risk to succeed but buisness doesn't work like that. Elton Brand supposedly wants out of L.A., and if the Bulls can package Hinrich, Hughes, and Sefolosha(even though I love his potential) to get Brand then they would be top 3 in the East automatically. They would be better than the Magic from day one.

Elton Brand is the guy I would want. We'll have to wait and see if he opts out of the last year on his deal. Either way the Bulls could offer Hinrich and Nocioni for him. The Clippers are very cheap, so they wouldn't take on Hughes (I don't think anyone will unless we take their garbage) but Hinrich's deal goes down in value, and Noce's is the same way. Conracts that go down, instead of up, would be a lot more attractive to the Clippers. Or the Heat, if the Bulls try for Marion.

The fact is that it's not likely that the Bulls make a huge trade and pull out a move to trade their guards for a dynamic big man. Beasley is a great player but the Bulls need to let their young forwards develop and not draft a forward for the 3RD STRAIGHT YEAR. Even though I think a move (free agency, trades, etc.) would help the Bulls a lot but it's not likely they pull something off. Overall the Bulls need a guy like Derrick Rose who is going to go out make plays and win games for the Bulls.

Assuming Brand's gonna make anywhere from 16-17 million, I would offer Hinrich (10 million in 08/09, Nocioni (8 million in 08/09) and Tyrus Thomas (3.7 million in 08/09). Or we could just offer Hinrich and Gooden which would be a little over 17 million in salary. And Gooden deal expires after next year, which would be attractive to the cheap Clippers.

But what happens to thomas if Brand is the starting PF? I don't know. Maybe package him with Hughes and try to get something?Paxson has work to do

I really want them to draft Rose. I think they can try and trade for a scoring PF. I would like for them to try and bring back Elton Brand. Not sure what the Clippers plans are with him? Will he opt out or will the Clippers give him an extension, I don't know. Maybe take a chance on Jermaine O'Neal? That would be risky but could pay off.

Draft Rose and trade for a verteran star PF? That's all the Bulls need...a front court dominance. Keep the players that provide dimension (Gordon's 3pointers, FTs and Deng's versatility). If Rose can be that star assist guard why keep Duhon or Hinrich? Trade the aging players...Gooden and Hughes while they still have trade value. Maybe throw in a rookie...Cedric Simmons and Brown?
