THis is not very practical on the street I hope he is just doing the most basic applications and they are suppose to be the ones that work on or in a real situation. That stuff is way to stactic and just unrealistic. Terrible. I sorry!
@abenice I'm not from their group, but what they're doing is what is called "omote" bunkai, or "obvious" application. It's just simple explanations to techniques in kata. "Ura" bunkai are applications which you don't see, such as the strike which comes after the opening movement of Heian Yondan. Those are what you use on the street. They are obvious applications "modified" for practical use. Why? Because kata's interpretation always depends on your teacher's attitude for the kata.
Ok is he just going over simplistic application to prove a point or is he actually teaching that to a room full of black belts? Because I have been in shotokan for almost 2 years now and I learned these concepts and principals let alone the particular application when I was a white belt lol.
wadya gonna do, people are always looking for the pot o' gold. there is no end to learning some1 had to of come away with something new to put in their repitore?
