  • Dave Thomas in a cardigan, ''It was a little too uptempo for me, but I still love him.''

I thought a funny kicker might have been to cut to the audience, all of whom were sleeping.Dunno, that might be considered too mean-spirited.

  • @hfelton Actually, I think it's funny!!

  • Sorry..John Candy STEALS the bit as the fan of Comos.

  • Just had to check this out after listening to Fresh Air with Terry Gross and David Bean Cooley

  • It was mentioned how old this video is. Wow! I had no idea. I'm still laughing at this 30 years later. My wife never got this show so I divorced her. No, just kidding. This skit is brilliant. It is great to have the ability to see this again thanks to the Internet. SCTV was one of the very few shows that I would actually schedule into my weekend during the '70s.

  • I'm watching SNL while watching this clip, I turned this up so I could watch it again. There is no way I could have done this part without crackin up and the director say cut continuously

  • The parody sketch that Candy and Levy did of "Midnight Cowboy" was funny, and how could I forget to mention "The Days Of The Week"

  • This is one of the funniest damned things I have ever seen. I love how he taps he one finger when he is prostrate.

  • Sheesh. That's 30 years ago next month. I remember this when it was first on SCTV. LOL

  • HILARIOUS!

  • Absolutely hysterical. Layered with humor. Not just one of SCTV's best, but one of the best comedy sketches in TV history.

  • lol at Rick Moranis (I think that's him) at the end.

"Tickets available at all Ticketrex outlets! Don't hurry!"

    XD

  • John freaking Candy 1:45

  • Perry Como: Still Alive! (barely.)

  • How did they do that with straight faces?

    Booogie. Hahahaaa

  • it`s too bad that the real perry como did`nt record these songs.lol.

  • "Last time I saw him was 14 years ago in the holy land." Comedy gold.

    Mr. Relaxation...Oi!

  • HA hA ha !!! " .... I thought tonight's show was a little up tempo........" Pure comedy gold !! Thanks for posting this video.

  • "He makes me want to just stand up and stretch" How great is that line? I totally agree with Richardjduke's assessment. Levy has done some fabulous work throughout the years, and his role in American Pie was under recognized and brilliant!

  • What The Fudge?!

  • Lmao!!!!!!! Eugene levy and the sctv cast were brilliant. That pause and delivery of Cmon during celebrate .Classic! And that half dead smurk on Levys face during the whole bit. Rock on SCTV and thank you to everyone who posted these great episodes!

  • lmao

  • One of the funniest and sharpest bits of all time.

  • I remember Perry Como was a presenter at one of the Emmy shows a few years back, and was presenting for best comedy series. He read the nominees, and he got to SCTV and announced "SCTV...." looking to the rear of the auditorium, he added "m favorite fan club"...(with a smile on his face). You could hear one of the crew yelp in surprise. He definitely loved this skit. And it is one of my favories

  • SCTV was better than Saturday Night Live.

  • Sad, though, that many of them wasted their talents in unimaginative Hollywood movies. Such a waste. Especially Dave Thomas and Eugene Levy.

  • @PacRimJim what do you mean especially Eugene Levy? He co-wrote and acted in some of the greatest comedies of the past 15 years. Best In Show...Waiting For Guffman...A Mighty Wind. And his work in the first American Pie was classic. I feel he did the other ones for money. But he did create a great character the first time out.

  • @richardjduke Armed and Dangerous with Candy was a Romp as well!

  • Thanks for posting, but my memory tells me that this is not the complete clip. Do any SCTV fans recall an interview bit with Moranis playing a British hipster who is interviewed after the show, talking about how much he digs Perry and has all his albums? I wonder why that was deleted from the DVD box set - - perhaps this is the syndicated version? It's still brilliant, but I do miss that clip!

  • The SCTV bunch rocked! A favorite moment!

  • I like to BOGEY! The ultimate in unhipness from Perry, LOL!

  • LOOOOL@this sketch

SCTV F yall for havin Perry Como all snuggled up in the bed wit the mic on the pillow

  • Joe Flaherty confirms this on a DVD commentary (or interview?), that Perry Como enjoyed the sketch.

  • AHAHAHA

  • Best skit ever!!

  • @AmericanPowerBase Speaking of licking something...go lick your balls, you cretinous jackass. They need the company, no doubt...

  • eugene levy was the best actor of the group, this was the funniest show on the air in the 70's. Thank you for uploading these, for those of us old enough to remember Perry Como this never fails to completely crack me up.

  • @eilujnosliw They're all brilliant, but I'm on the same page as you: Levy was particularly awesome, and my personal favorite. His range was unreal, and he could evoke so many emotions: from smarmy and smug, to poignant and pitiful. Amazing actor.

  • @chalomirof63 Definitely, his best work & all of these fine comedian best work is SCTV.

  • @eilujnosliw Vot? San Fransiski? Did you driven or did you flew?

  • @Skalanto Sid Dithers!!

  • @eilujnosliwhahahah, i agree with you this was one of the funniest shows ,and this was one of my favorites sketch.too bad we dont get to see this kind of shows anymore.

  • One of the best things about this brilliant sketch is RIck Moranis looking especially preposterous in a tight-curl wig prancing around stage. But what an unforgettable image of Perry lying catatonic: "Celebrate good times ... come on..."

  • @AmericanPowerBase I'm sure we'd all like you to enlighten us: ".....like Obama loves blac......": Please, finish this bit of racist brilliance! Another Teabag charmer, ay? Welcome to my page; now stay off in the future, jackass!

  • I always loved this skit. I laugh so hard every time I see it. :)

  • I remember the crew of SCTV sent Perry a letter apologizing if they offended him by the parodies. Como wrote back saying he wasn't offended at all. He laughed his head off!!

  • @tomtrh I hope that's the case, because I had heard that Perry wasn't too pleased.

  • Perry performing face down on the floor. What a comedic slam!

  • Let's split the difference on this and say that, while the audio quality could be improved, the clip makes certain people laugh — particularly me. Alright then. On to the Holy Land to solve THAT problem...

  • @Helke23 LOL. The volume problem is no secret; it's all there on my profile.

  • Alive???????????

  • I still almost crack my ribs from laughing at this! Classic comedy!

  • I love it! Thanks for posting this, I've passed the link to all my SCTV-lover friends.

  • Hilarious!

  • Great! Thanks! I last saw that skit at the Porthole Tavern in Ship Bottom, NJ almost 30 years ago and its still as funny (I like to bow-gee) as I remembered it... (even without the draft beers and the pitchers of Kamikazis) Thanks again!

  • One of the funniest sketches of all time!

  • I remember this. I watched it with my Mom; we roared hysterically.

  • hilarious

  • effing brilliant...sctv always surpassed snl.

  • I remember seeing this on tv. It's still hilarious! Thanks for posting this!

  • @bucklandb Very welcome! Thanks.

  • Rick Moranis in the bright ginger afro just might be the most hilarious things I've ever witnessed. John Candy at 1:47 is hilarious too.

  • LMFAO!! "Celebrate" is the best cover.

  • To this day, I can't hear the song "Celebration" without hearing him sing it from this skit. LOL

  • Funny clip but... I get really tired of the massive technical problems on these videos. This clip has really low level audio on the right channel only.

  • It would be nice if you read my profile. And if you're getting "really tired", then, a little suggestion: DON'T WATCH THEM!!!

  • Thanks for the great videos man. You bring back a lot of great memories. Don't listen to turd heads who complain. Thanks again.

  • "chuckjls": Many thanks for the very sweet comment; there ARE many nice folks on Y.T.; the "turd heads" sometimes make me nuts!! LOL. Franny

  • @ guyfrosty: P.S. - Just want to point out that you didn't pay one penny to watch this video!

  • I can't get enough of the "dead stare"!

  • Hahahahahahahaha

  • I remember this like it was yesterday. Thank you so much for posting.

  • No problem, thanks.

  • Eugene Levy is hilarious!

  • Now if you love "Perry" then check out another SCTV classic ---- Gerry Todd_Todd Munroe DooDooDoo. Different style but still hilarious!

  • This is the best laugh I've had in a YEAR ! Bless you for posting this video...

  • Unfortunately the on the streets interview segments with Rick Moranis' British character and Joe Flaherty's bespectacled goofy character have been lost.

  • Rick does "Gordo" on the above-mentioned parody. Did ANY of these guys NOT have uber-talent?

  • More like Perry Coma. LOL

  • Singing while lying tucked under the sheets--LMAO!! I saw this years ago and laugh every time I think of that image! Thanks

  • I love to BOE-GEE! HA to the nth!

  • This is TOO GOOD! I'm also looking for "Gordon LIghtfoot Sings Every Song Ever Recorded".

  • Can you TRY posting "Gordon LIghtfoot Sings Every Song Ever Recorded" They always rip it right off again, but it's one of my all-time faves!

  • It's BACK! and I actually burned it into my library, as I will THIS gem. I can't afford to lose these visual forms of Prozac ever again!

  • Another yank viewer who loved this show! We have a sense of humor too you know.

  • I can't thank you enough for posting all these SCTV bits. I am losing my voice from laughing. I remember so many of them so clearly and now I can share them with my kids. Thank you!

  • Thanks much, and very happy to do so!

  • Only one more, teeny, tiny request: All those hysterical "Celebrity Blow-Ups!"

  • Comment removed

  • WTF does MORONis have to do with this skit abacab! Perry HOMO was played by Eugene Levy, who was probably the funniest of the crew! You gotta LOVE Bobby Bittman, c'mon!!!The whole cast was something special. Only the Canuckleheads can appreciate the sarcastic humor, that goes over the Yanks heads!!! lol

  • Rick Moranis was one of the background dancers, quite visible at 0:40.

  • Hey, I'm an American who loved this show. I got this show when I was 13 and it was syndicated here in the States. BTW, I'm a huge fan of "The Newsroom", too.

  • That is SO funny! The height of SCTV hilarity!

  • I love this skit! Brilliant, and one of my favourites. Oddly enough, at times he reminds me of David Bowie!
