  • If that fell you would never know until you hit the ground

  • I love that elavator. U can see the stone mountain

  • this would be the worst elevator to get stuck in! D:

  • Dont like hights

  • Do they charge to visit the observation deck if you aren't staying at the hotel?

  • @triggerhappypacifist When I was there, you could pay an admission fee or eat at the restaurant.

  • WOW, That is elevator to strianght up 72th floors! Amazing isn't!

  • hate to get stuck in this

  • all the other buildings you mentioned going up plus the one your in whats the security level like

  • This building is the architectural twin of the RenCen (now GM) headquarters in Detroit. The center tower of the Ren Cen looks just like the Peachtree Plaza. Actually the tower in Detroit is just a little bit taller, and was built a year or two after the Peachtree. The scenic elevator in the Ren Cen overlooks Canada (to the South) and the Detroit river. The RenCen (GM Headquarters) tower is a Mariott hotel, and is actually the tallest hotel in the US.

  • ya know atlanta looks kind of like new york

  • Is that the tallest hotel in the United States?

  • @michaelrio1 Technically, the Renaissance Center in Detroit is the tallest, although I consider it to be a ripoff - look it up on wikipedia.

  • @musicfreakcc that is exactly what i think. they look the same except the renaissance center is 5 feet taller

  • @rayallensax And it just so happens that the RenCen was built a year later, too.

  • @musicfreakcc i think they need to just build something on top of the roof to regain tallest hotel in america

  • @michaelrio1 I think its Trump hotel in Chicago ... consists over 100 floors.

  • Whats the highest amount of floors you have been up?

  • @musicfreakcc What building was that? Sears (willis) tower? I love riding elevators and im visiting chicago next week so i want to know the best buildings to go up. Also do you think you will ever go up the new tallest building in dubai?

  • @jekproductions154 That was at the Sears Tower. If you're in chicago, I'd definitely recommend the John Hancock Tower skydeck over the Sears tower - faster elevators, no airport security, and shorter lines. If you have time for both, I'd definitely see the Sears Tower, too.

  • Then where are the other 65 floors?

  • @YoutuJ3eJ3lows The elevator doesn't stop at them.

  • @musicfreakcc lol wow

  • At one time that was the tallest building in ATL and it stood alone. Different scene today. ATL is a city on the move.

  • @musicfreakcc is that peachtree tv plaza

  • My mom got on that when I was little and freaked the fuck out.

  • 72 floors is awesome.

  • I think of the Towering INferno and the poor lady that falls out of it.

  • Not that fast.

  • @revo8778 Ikr. Why would they make the internal elevators about 1200 fpm and these about 750?

  • @revo8778 to prolong the ascent so guests can have more time to view the city

  • @revo8778 That;s the idea. It's not speed. They want you to enjoy your ride on the SCENIC elevators.

  • OH! so that's what 'EZ' stood for XDD I never knew XD

    EXPRESS ZONE!

    hm, how about

    'TZ' XDD

  • Very nice elevator, however thats VERY high up and wouldve made me very dizzy :)

  • My sister was director of security for the Peachtree Plaza Hotel in the late 80s. I managed to ride the left scenic for several hours continuously one afternoon. It is hard to get tired of those elevators. I can see the hotel from my home, but for some reason I only manage to ride them once a year or so =(

  • i went there last night XD!

  • Were the windows inside the elevator still covered?

  • ive been on that elevator a lot....i always stand with my back to the windows lol

  • I love scenic elevators

The bottons on the elevator look like the bottons in Orlando Int'l (MCO)

  • ive been in that elevator wheni waslike 12 13

  • you are a very brave person going up 72 floors in a glass elevator. i'd have a panic attack!

  • yes .... i can't get up to the 5th floor my house is a 5stories high and when i get up to the 5th floor i can't look down but now i'm in the 2nd floor and it's not high enough to make me panic

  • Slower than the traction elevator....

I bet old people can't stand a fast scenic elevator because of the height, and they will get dizzy........

But I want the fastest elevator that like this, a scenic elevator so you can have an adventure of riding the fastest scenic elevator in the world.....

  • If you go to singapore the elevators there are so posh and very very new but the ones at changi int airport are a bit u know old

  • excellent hotel great service. stayed on the 52nd floor

  • when i get my tax check im hoppin a flight to atlanta its too cool there

  • Cool, although Atlanta is not that much of a drive from Charleston.

  • Oops, I used the wrong account.

  • How often do you eat at the SunDial Restaurant & lounge?

  • Once every quarter.

  • Does the Westin have a scenic guestroom elevator?

  • Nope - the Scenic elevators can only be called from floors 5 and 72, but it does have additional floor buttons for floors 6-9.

  • Are the Scenic Elevator's open yet?

  • Nope - you have to take one of the internal elevators to get there.

  • Are they open now?

  • Is the Sun Dial and/or the pool open yet?

  • The SunDial is open, but I don't know about the pool.

  • There are 6th and 8th floor selections but there does not appear to be a 7.

  • There is a floor 7.

  • Were you alone in this elevator?

  • Yes - going up and down.

  • i had the biggest panic attack in those elevators when i went there. i'm not normally effected by heights, but this one scared the devil out of me!

  • Yeah, that elevator can be very scary for those who are acrophobia.

  • That elevator can be bad for those who are acrophobic.

  • Cool. Thanks for identifying all the other tall buildings.

  • I would have liked to have seen that building before they renovated it.

  • sounds like they need more oil

  • doesn't that have a rotating restaurant at the top

  • Correct.

  • what kind of camera did u use

  • That was taken with a JVC GR-D93 camcorder.

  • yes they are otis. i was on them back in 2000

  • I saw Otis technicians modernizing the other elevator.

  • The express zone is really long

  • The elevator is slow. I actually went to the restaurant yesterday and the speaker was operational. It basically said that you are going up and it is the tallest hotel in the western hemisphere.

  • Yes it is an Otis elevator, I think it is a OTIS MOD 2000

  • It was modernized last month.

  • To witch model

  • No idea - the hotel was built in the early 1970's.

  • If I see at the COP (Control panel) it is een Otis MOD 2000 (Otis using it for rebuild the Otis elevators)

  • I'm going there soon, so i'll look. The certificate of operation is not required to be displayed inside elevators in Georgia, though.

  • Are you working by OTIS USA?

  • This is pretty much an Otis model to me. When he pressed a floor the elevator beeped, like all Otis elevators. Otis also pretty much makes Auroura fixtures, and the exterior position chime sounds familiar to me, and when in the express zone, it displays EZ(Express Zone)

  • I like this beep

  • Is this an Otis elevator?

  • Yes it is, but not travelling as fast as the fastest elevators in the world.

  • It is so annoying, and they somehow manage to pop your ears. The only way to go to the 72nd floor is via one of these elevators - you can only go down from the internal elevators. This elevator is from the early 1970's and has since been modernized.

  • Why cant you go up to the 72nd floor using one of the internal elevators? Ask the hotel staff f you ever come here again

  • I have no idea why. The buttons on the internal elevators say that the 72nd floor is only accessible via the external elevators from the 5th floor. However, you can ride down from the 72nd floor on those.

  • I mean you can go down using the internal elevators in addition to the scenic ones. By the way, why are you answering your own questions?

  • Maybe you can only go down from the 72nd floor in the internal elevators is probably because they are key floors

  • I did not see a smart card reader inside the internal elevators. Maybe the buttons are there for firefighters' operation mode only.

  • Well didnt you see a keyhole in the internal elevators?

  • Do you mean an access control system?

  • My mom said she rode that elevator a long time ago and she didn't like it so now she hates all glass elevators
